Rehearsals will be rehearsals will be scheduled between 5:30 - 8;30 pm - Monday through Friday. You will not be called every day, only when you are needed to work. Please note - there may be some Saturday rehearsals as well. Attendance at ALL tech week rehearsals, sitzprobe on January 7th with time TBD (where the orchestra and cast will play and sing through the show), as well as all performances, is mandatory. *The Sandstone Summer Theatre Board of Directors are seeking a director for SST's 2024 children's theatre production.* Google Form Application: https://forms.gle/CDLsDURgbTaKoEQE6 *Application Deadline: October 27, 2023 * The Director is engaged by SST for their production (to be determined), with performances July 19-21, 2024. The terms of this agreement are from May 1, 2024 through the post-production meeting scheduled to be no later than August 31, 2024. The program runs summer camp style on weekdays from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM starting June 17, 2024. Technical rehearsals are the week of performances and a specific schedule is determined at a later date. Some production meetings prior to May 1st will be required for planning purposes including discussing budget, auditions, hiring production staff, and scheduling. The children's theatre program is open to youth who have completed fourth grade to those who completed 8th grade. This position will receive $2,000. Additional responsibilities are listed in the Google Form application. We are asking applicants to pitch three shows with their application. YOUNGSTOWN, OH – Just in time for Halloween, The Millennial Theatre Company (MTC) presents Sweeney Todd; The Demon Barber of Fleet Street at the Hopewell Theatre (702 Mahoning Ave. Youngstown, OH 44511), Friday October 20 and Saturday October 21 at 7:30pm, Sunday October 22 at 2:00pm, Friday October 27 and Saturday October 28 at 7:30pm, and Sunday October 29 at 2:00pm. Tuesday October 31, Friday November 3, and Saturday November 4 at 7:30pm. Joe Asente, director of the production, is thrilled to bring this production to the stage, “We made the difficult decision to retire our production of Rocky Horror after last season, and began the search for a new musical that would be a good fit for the Halloween season. After the success of Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods last season, we thought that Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd would be the perfect follow up.” Asente said that he had one condition when agreeing to take on the project; it needed to be bloody, “I have seen many productions of Sweeney Todd where the blood was very subtle; a line of red magic marker would have been more convincing than what was used. I knew that if we were to do it, I needed it to be bloody. I am a huge fan of horror, and came by Sweeney Todd not through the Broadway musical but through the extremely bloody 2007 film version, and I wanted to carry that over into our production. We worked with Tolin FX out of Pittsburg, who has worked on and developed special effects for major motion pictures and television shows such as The Dark Knight Rises and Mindhunter, to bring our bloody vision to life. This is the perfect way to spend a night during the Halloween season!” *Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street* tells the riveting tale of a vengeful barber, Sweeney Todd, driven by a burning desire for justice and retribution. Travel along on a voyage to the Polynesian Islands as this high-energy ensemble showcases island traditions through flowing expressive dance, as well as the fast hip movements to Tahitian dance. This position would focus on technical execution of our Spring Musical (April 19-20th). This position is new and unique for our district. Candidates should demonstrate not only technical experience, but also have a passion for working with students in public schools. Time in the school will mostly take place from February-April with flexibility to determine your own schedule before the final two weeks of the run. Steve Young presents THE WEIRD & WONDERFUL WORLD OF INDUSTRIAL MUSICALS USA, 1950s-80s, various directors Emmy-nominated Late Show with David Letterman comedy writer Steve Young, who's also written for The Simpsons and Lorne Michaels, appears in person to share his fascination (obsession?) with industrial musicals that was first explored in Dava Whisenant's 2018 documentary Bathtubs over Broadway. In his live show, Young takes a deeper dive into the rarefied realm of corporate show biz that spawned such off-off Broadway hits as Diesel Dazzle and the American-Standard plumbing-fixture spectacular The Bathrooms Are Coming. Produced to promote the selling of consumer goods, and never intended to be seen by the general public; these musicals were performed at company conventions, product launches, and sales meetings. Young's show features films documenting some of the jaw-dropping singing and dancing extravaganzas commissioned by Purina, General Electric, Kellogg's, Hamm's Beer, and others, and includes bizarre clips you won't see on YouTube or any place else. Talespinner Children's Theatre is thrilled to kick off our 2023-2024 “In My Neighborhood” Season with Stellaluna, lovingly adapted by Saskia Janse from the beloved children’s book by Janell Cannon, with music by Guus Ponsioen, and directed by Becca Martin. Baby bat Stellaluna’s life is knocked off balance when an owl attacks her mother one night. The tiny bat is lucky enough to land in a nest of baby birds, but her whole world has just turned upside down. Literally! Stellaluna’s adoptive bird mom accepts her into her nest, but only on the condition that Stellaluna will act like a bird, not a bat. Anyone who has ever been asked to be someone they’re not will understand the conflicts and possibilities Stellaluna faces. This family-friendly production performs at Pilgrim UCC in Tremont from October 14-22: Saturdays at 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm, and Sundays at 3:00 pm. An ASL interpreted performance will be on October 22nd made possible by the HEARD, and open captions will be available on October 22nd, and for the 1:00 performance on Saturday October 21st.
