Then day one will be concluded with a Self-Tape Seminar. For the Self-Tape Seminar everyone will receive a scene prior to, and are required to submit a self-tape. Self-tapes will be reviewed and feedback will be given. Students will then have the opportunity to work live for the group based on the feedback given from their self-tapes. Then students will get a second chance to take more redirects from Alex. Each student will get the opportunity to work live multiple times. Day Two: TV Comedies and Dramedy Day two will begin with a review of the Multi-Cam “rules” as well as the hybrid Dramedy “rules” from Alex's Bootcamp course. Students will be given a scene in advance. The day of, students will get paired up and be given a short opportunity to rehearse. Partners will then work their scenes “live” on stage, get notes throughout, and work again. The styles we will focus on will be Multi-Cam, Aaron Sorkin and Amy Sherman-Palladino. Students will be split into either a Multi-Cam group or Aaron Sorkin/Amy Sherman-Palladino group. All review notes will be shared with the whole group. We will close the workshop with a Q&A with Alex. More About Alex: Most recently, he starred in season 2 of The CW's Stargirl as Dr. MidNite. While motivating and positive, Collins also brings a no-nonsense sense of honesty to his teaching style, focusing more on the practical realities of working in today's industry. Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach and the Akron-Summit County Public Library bring to you The Leaves be Green: Springtime in England as the culminating concert in the Spring 2023 World Tour of Music residency. Cleveland-based early music ensemble, Les Délices, and young artists from Firestone Community Learning Center celebrate springtime with joyous music from the Middle Ages and Renaissance. Audiences will be transported by the beguiling sounds of ancient instruments – including lute, medieval fiddle, recorder, harp, and more – and enjoy songs and carols in English by William Byrd, Robert Fayrfax, Henry VIII, and others that see gardens in full bloom, birds singing from on high and dancing in the open air. This is a unique, family-friendly opportunity for all ages so make sure to get your tickets now!!! *PERFORMANCES: KANDER THEATER* March 2, 3, 4 @ 7 PM March 4, 5 @ 1 PM PURCHASE TICKETS HERE <https://www.oberlin.edu/events/theater_lab_series_sideways_stories_from_way…> - $5 general admission, $3 college staff/student/child *SYNOPSIS: * The show centers on a 4th-grade classroom on the thirtieth floor of Wayside School, which the architect "was supposed to build... with thirty classrooms all on one level but he accidentally put them on top of each other" ("He said he was sorry."). When the students defeat their evil teacher by turning her into an apple, the introduction of a new teacher, Mrs. Jewls, begins a whole new chapter of life at Wayside School. Based on the children's book by Louis Sachar, *Sideways Stories from Wayside School *is full of wacky characters (such as sammy, a dead rat who disguises himself as a student to sneak into the classroom, and Mrs. Zarves, the teacher on the nineteenth floor who does not exist) and even wackier stories. The show is directed by Maggie Elsen '23 with management by Caris Gross '23. *TALKBACK/WORKSHOP: * The show is presented with audience members under the age of 12 in mind, though all are welcome. Following the matinee performances on March 4 and 5, the cast and crew will facilitate a short talkback on the themes of the show and the importance of theater education. They will then lead a workshop for young artists engaging with principles of improv and comedy performance, performing scenes from the play alongside the actors. The talkback is open to all but the workshop is recommended for children ages 8-11. Registration is required and spots are limited. There is no additional fee for participation in the post-show workshop outside of purchasing a ticket to the performance itself.
