It starts with a group of girls gathered at Dot's cabin for a book club. We get a hilarious and realistic view into the special relationships of girlfriends as they share life problems, relations woos, secrets, and if they actually read the book! One by one, circumstances lead the ladies to invite their husbands, boyfriends, etc. to the cabin. But there is only one problem...Dot is REALLY looking forward to girl time (no boys allowed). So, the women try to keep the men hidden so as to not upset their friend. It is a farce, so naturally, the wheels fall off a bit in Act II, and the best laid plans don't work out so well. To find out how our heroines get on and whether or not Dot actually discovers the men, you will have to come see it! At the end of the day, we are witnessing women balancing the relationships they have with their partners and with their closest friends. I am sure we can all relate to that! Voice Acting 101 - Spring, 2023 If you live in Northeast Ohio and would like to start your Voice Acting career on the right foot, Dan Popp's Voice Acting 101 class will put you on the path to developing marketable skills. It's 12 hours of coaching from a 35-year veteran in voice acting. BEREA, OH – The Department of Theatre and Dance at Baldwin Wallace University presents fyoo zh en ’23: Sumagsisa, Beautiful Flower, directed by Sara Whale and choreographed by Leslie Bell, Max Laskar, and Sara Whale. Choreographers use movement to explore and illustrate Dr. Karen Barahona's research on the indigenous women from the Chilcatotora community in Ecuador and their ingenuity and drive to create opportunities for themselves and their families, while honoring and preserving Mother Earth. There will be a Q & A directly following Friday evening's performance, Feb 24. The BorderLight Festival returns in 2023 with our first all-Fringe festival, but be sure to apply before February 28th. The festival will feature half local artists, half artists from all over the U.S. BorderLight will provide a venue, box office, marketing support, and fun, free events for artists. 70% of box office revenue is returned to artists, who can see other shows in the festival for free on standby. THE EMPEROR’S NEW CLOTHES By Erin E. Dolan Directed by Rachael Endrizzi Lorain County Community College theatre program and Spark Theatre Company announce non-equity auditions for “The Emperor’s New Clothes,” a new take on the timeless tale. When two strangers arrive in the city of Logos, they call attention to themselves by claiming to be able to make the most magnificent and magical clothing. Emperor Caecus cannot resist such a claim, especially when he finds out that the magic in the cloth means that those who are unfit for their position cannot see the garments made from the fabric. The ensuing silliness can only be sorted out by the most intelligent and sensible person in the empire, a child name Captiosus. This adaptation is written by Cleveland playwright, Erin E. Dolan! Copies of the script will be on reserve at the LCCC Bass Library until the audition dates. Digital copies for perusal may also be obtained by emailing sparktheatre4youth(a)gmail.com. WHO: Auditions are open to all LCCC students and staff, as well as actors from the community. We are seeking actors of all types for performances at LCCC Stocker Arts Center’s Cirigliano Theatre, as well as actors to travel with the show on tour to schools in May. Actors do NOT need to be available for the tour to audition. It is likely we will have a larger cast for the April public performances, and a select group of actors to double roles for the May tour. Actors may be considered for both options but have the option to audition for just one or the other. WHAT: Auditions will be held in 5-minute time slots. You will be asked to read from available sides at the audition. If available, please bring one copy of your headshot and resume to the audition. AUDITION DATES Tuesday, February 21, 2023 from 7 pm – 9 pm and Wednesday, February 22, 2023 from 7 pm – 9 pm Callbacks will be held Thursday, February 23rd from 7pm-9pm, as needed.
