The Technical Director primarily works independently, but also in conjunction with the Cassidy Theatre Board of Directors and production teams to execute the overall strategy and vision for the event and for our organization. | Position Summary | The Technical Director performs a variety of functions in support of the mainstage and youth theater programs. They are a member of a diverse team who provides a welcoming and helpful experience on behalf of the organization. Responsibilities include: · Operate and maintain the technical assets of the theater including supervision of the use of lighting, sound and communications equipment as well as the maintenance of stage facilities · In consultation with production teams, consults to determine the necessary technical support required to produce a specific event in advance of production dates · Works in consultation with production teams to design sets within production budget parameters · Manages and assists with set and stage construction & tear down · Maintains safety and cleanliness of stage and back stage areas. · Monitors the condition of equipment, arranges for repair/replacement within budgetary constraints. Performs maintenance on equipment. · Attends rehearsals as necessary (including tech week) to supervise and assist in the technical aspect of mounting the show or special event. | | Qualifications | Education: A High School diploma or equivalent is required. Experience: Previous technical, mechanical, construction and electrical experience required. Skills: Strong verbal and written communications skills, supervisory skills and interpersonal skills are required. Working knowledge of techniques, methods and procedures of theatre, dance and music productions and presentations including stage, set, sound and lighting design is preferred. Must be able to develop and maintain string working relationships with vendors, co-workers, board of directors and others. Must be able to lift heavy objects. |

Auditions: Great Lakes Theater Seeking Actor/Teachers for 2021-22 School Year

Great Lakes Theater (GLT) will be accepting video auditions for non-Equity actor-teachers for its School Residency Program for the 2021-2022 school year. These are full-time, seasonal, paid positions, beginning in December 2021 through May 2022. Auditions will not be held in-person. Video submission deadline is Tuesday, November 16, 2021. GLT seeks actors of diverse cultures, perspectives, skills and experiences to create an inclusive ensemble to work in the classroom and online, helping students from K – 12 grade interpret and better understand classic texts through performance, activities, and discussion. Video recorded auditions should include one Shakespeare piece and one contrasting contemporary audition piece. Both should total no more than three minutes combined. *FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE*November 1, 2021 *MTC to Hold Auditions for Local Premiere of Heathers the Musical* *Youngstown, Ohio*- The Millennial Theatre Company (MTC) is holding auditions for the local premiere of *Heathers the Musical*, in collaboration with The Hopewell Theatre. Auditions will be held at The Hopewell Theatre in Youngstown (702 Mahoning Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio 44502) on November 11 from 6-9pm, November 12 from 6-9pm, and November 13 from 12-3pm. Rehearsals are slated to begin the week of November 15th. All performers will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before the start of rehearsals. Proof of vaccination will be required before the first rehearsal. Masks are required at all times at the auditions, except when performing. The production will be performed January 7-10 and 14-16 at The Hopewell Theatre in Youngstown Ohio. Auditioners (ages 16+) should prepare a 30-60 second cut of a song in the style of the show. An accompanist and bluetooth speaker will be provided. There will also be a cold read from the script. All roles are open. Heathers the Musical, based on the classic 1989 film, brings audiences to Westerberg High, a school ruled by a shoulder-padded, scrunchie-wearing junta: Heather, Heather and Heather, the hottest and cruelest girls in all of Ohio. ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT Oana Leuca is a Romanian-born poet and playwright. She immigrated to the USA in 2018 and is currently pursuing her MFA in playwriting through the NEOMFA. At the 2020 NEOMFA Playwrights Festival, convergence-continuum produced one of her plays, Autopoiesis. In April 2020, she won the Leonard Trawick Scholarship in creative writing. City Ballet of Cleveland is delighted to offer the magical Sugarplum Fairy Tea on Sunday once again, November 14th. Now in its 7th year, the annual benefit supports the upcoming Uniquely Cleveland Nutcracker performances. Join us for a charming afternoon of delicious delights and enjoy endearing performances from the Sugarplum Fairy and other performers from The Uniquely Cleveland Nutcracker at the Cleveland Skating Club Ballroom. Help us celebrate the start of the holiday season with the joy you have come to expect from City Ballet of Cleveland’s Sugarplum Fairy Tea. Children can enjoy making memorable crafts and moving to music while their grown-up can enjoy bidding on gift baskets and shopping at the Petite Boutique.
