Job Title: Graphic Design Intern Job Description: Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT) is seeking a graphic design intern to perform design and layout of marketing materials to support the theatre’s 2015‐2016 season. The ideal candidate will be available 15 hours per week on site at CPT, with some periods of increased or decreased workload during special events. Design and/or layout projects will include: * Postcards, Flyers, Brochures * Posters * Programs (show, season and annual fundraiser) * Advertisements (CPT and sponsor) * Image formatting for web and social media Applicants for this position should be fluent in the principals of layout and print production. Other duties may include hanging, framing and mounting of posters and display materials as needed. The graphic design intern will utilize existing templates (providing updates as needed) to develop core collateral materials for various shows and programming. There may also be opportunities to develop original concepts for CPT’s education performances, workshop productions and other design needs. This position would report to the executive artistic director and the director of audience engagement and media relations. Compensation: $9‐12 per hour, commensurate with applicant skills and experience. Position open until filled. Start date January 1, 2016. Requirements: Degree or equivalent in Graphic Design, Art or related fields is preferred. Industry experience is a plus. The candidate must have strong knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat and Illustrator. The successful candidate will be very detail‐oriented and possess excellent communication skills; both verbal and written. The graphic designer sought by CPT will work well under pressure and be open to direction. S/he must enjoy working in a fast paced, dynamic environment and be able to work independently as well as with a team. Enthusiasm, flexibility and willingness to work in a collaborative fashion a must. The ideal candidate will successfully navigate tight deadlines and be able juggle multiple projects simultaneously. Sweet and shy Olive brings only her best friend (the dictionary) with her to the bee; Bold and hyper-allergic speller William Barfee uses his “magic foot” to propel him to greatness; former champion Chip is struggling with his burgeoning puberty; easily distracted Leaf is unconvinced that he’s smart enough to be a challenger; overachiever Marcy is disappointed by her consistent success; and politically aware Logainne Schwartzandgrubenierre only wants to impress her gay dads. In hilarious, touching, and catchy songs, each speller reveals his/her hopes, struggles, and passions as they make their way through the competition.
