Saint Ignatius High School is in need of a last minute replacement for a Flute/Piccolo player for their Spring Musical, Young Frankenstein. Performance dates are: Friday, April 24th, 7:30pm Saturday, April 25th, 7:30pm Friday, May 1st, 7:30pm Saturday, May 2nd, 2:00pm Sunday, May 3rd, 2:00pm All performances are held in the Breen Center for the Performing Arts. In addition to performances, musician can earn additional payment for attending rehearsals starting on Sunday April 19th, through Wednesday April 22nd. No appointment is necessary, please arrive by 7 PM. Callbacks will occur on April 29thby invitation. Please prepare 16-32 bars of a song in the style of the show, and a short comedic monologue or joke. Their stormy relationship comes to a head when the workers strike for a 7 ½ cent pay increase, setting off not only a conflict between management and labor, but a battle of the sexes as well. Featuring plenty of fun and splashy production numbers, including a comic "dream ballet", The Pajama Game is filled with standout featured roles and a large ensemble making it a perfect choice for high schools and community theatres. This perennial favorite is a sure-fire crowd-pleaser and a glowing example of solid, classic musical comedy. CASTING CALL: A short movie, entitled 'Resilience', will be entered into the My Rode Reel Short film 2015 Contest. This contest has jury, judges, people's choice, and genre awards. It will only be 3 minutes in length. We are looking for a middle-aged African American male to play the role of ROBERT, an abusive husband and father. **He needs to be tall and lanky.** (some flexibility with look). An athletic and fit African American girl to play the role of LAUNA, who has seen her mother physically/mentally abused and been mentally abused herself. **Person can be older but must appear young.** And finally, we need an African American woman to play the role of ADULT LAUNA. **Must have professional clothing.** All people can be family members since more than likely you will resemble one another. *****Roles can be adapted to any race, so all races may apply***** AUDITIONS: April 24-25 Time and Location: TBA (in Cleveland Heights area for sure) You can email me: J.moss2013(a)gmail.com, to receive part of the script for your audition and to learn more about story. Mondays Beginner Balboa 7:00 to 8:00 pm. # Classes: 5 Date: Mondays, April 13th until May 11th, 2015 Instructor: Multi-year national and international Balboa champion Valerie Salstrom and long time Balboa dancer Loreto Agdinaoay Jr. Balboa and Bal-Swing are dances that originated in the crowded ballrooms of Southern California in the 1930s. The Balboa is loved for it's precise footwork, close connection, finesse and the ability to be done quite easily at all tempos. Balboa is most often done to big band swing from the 1930s. Balboa is said to be the Tango of the Swing world. If you are interested in developing and refining your leading or following abilities, then Balboa is definitely the dance for you! You do not need previous Balboa experience or dance experience to take this class. Mondays Intermediate Balboa 8:00 to 9:00 pm. # Classes: 5 Date: Mondays, April 13th until May 11th, 2015 Instructor: Multi-year national and international Balboa champion Valerie Salstrom and long time Balboa dancer Loreto Agdinaoay Jr. You must have a firm grasp of the basics of Balboa and some Bal-Swing to attend these lessons. These would include up hold and down hold basics, progressives, scootches, paddle turns, crab walks, come arounds, lollies, and out & ins) This class will focus on variations on the basics, transitions, throw outs and multiple variations on throw outs. Be ready for some cool footwork variations as well. If you have taken a beginner Balboa class with Get Hep Swing before you are most likely ready to take this class. Followers may want to wear at least a low heeled shoe for all of the Balboa classes. Leather soled shoes are best for balboa. Tuesdays Beginner Jitterbug/East Coast Swing/Swing dancing 7:00 to 8:00 pm. # Classes: 5 Date: Tuesdays, April 14th until May 12th, 2015 Instructor: Get Hep Swing owner and multi-year national and international swing dance champion Valerie Salstrom and long time swing dancer and swing dance teacher, Paul Carryer We make learning how to partner dance FUN! Learn the easiest form of partnered dancing – The Jitterbug! Also known as East Coast Swing or just Swing. We will dance to a variety of styles of music including big band swing, early rock & roll, blues and R & B! You will learn the basic footwork patterns and how to lead and follow a fun mix of spins and turns in open and closed position. Learning to swing dance is a great way to meet people and get some exercise too! You must have proficient skills in Jitterbug to feel comfortable taking this course. Please wear shoes that are comfortable and will allow you to pivot and twist. Comfy attire is a good idea too. You do NOT need a partner to take this class however, there is a discounted rate for people who sign up as a couple with one person assuming the role of leader and the other person assuming the role of follower. We rotate partners during the class so you will have the chance to dance with all of the other students and the teachers as well.
