Audition notice for Hudson Players fall production of Play On! by Rick Abbott Produced by special arrangement with Samuel French Directed by; OCTA Award-winning director, June Organ Auditions will be held on *September 13 and 14 at 7pm* at the Barlow Community Center, 41 S. Oviatt St. Hudson, Ohio. *Performance dates are; November 6,7,13,14,15,20,21. * Anyone auditioning should be prepared to read from the script. A perusal copy of the script is available at Hudson Public Library. Please bring an up to date resume. Head shots are welcome but not required. Play On! is the hilarious story of a theater group trying desperately to put on a play in spite of maddening interference from a haughty authoress who keeps revising the script. Act I is a rehearsal of the dreadful show, Act II is the near disastrous dress rehearsal, and the final act is the actual performance in which anything that can go wrong does. When the authoress decides to give a speech on the state of modern theatre during the curtain calls, the audience is treated to a madcap climax with a thoroughly hilarious romp. Wandering Aesthetics Announces Fall Youth Theatre Classes After some very successful Summer Theatre CAMPS, Wandering Aesthetics is proud to announce our upcoming session of youth theatre classes. Wandering Aesthetics’ Director of Education Kyle Jozsa will lead our fall session. Wandering Aesthetics uses a play-based approach to teach, guiding students to learn through imagination and experimentation. Beaumont high school seeking high school young men for its fall production of Seussical the Musical! Auditions will be held on Tuesday, September 8 from 3:30 to 6:00 and Wednesday, September 9 from 4:30 to 6:30 in the SLC Theater. Callbacks, if necessary, will be held on the following Thursday. We are looking to cast 18-20 young women and men. For Beaumont’s production, the roles of The Cat in the Hat and JoJo will be played as female. Auditions are open to students in all high school grade levels. All cast members must be able to sing (in harmony) and follow basic choreography. Prepare: Select a one minute reading from any Dr. Seus book to present at your audition. What exactly is The Manhattan Project - Cleveland Lab? The Manhattan Project is a low-stakes, nonthreatening place for actors and playwrights to meet and work together. Based on the Theatre Lab model taught at the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama and inspired by The Brooklyn Generator in New York, The Manhattan Project wants to introduce Cleveland actors and playwrights to each other by organizing a bi-monthly production of brand new 10-minute plays. Participating artists will meet early in the month and will be broken into teams, each with one playwright. The playwright will then be given a writing prompt to write a new 10-minute play based on the prompt and including all the team's actors. The rest of the evening the team members will get to know each other and get a feel for each other's skills and voices. The teams will reconvene later in the month to perform these plays for each other. These 10-minute plays are not an end in themselves. Through these small collaborations we hope to build relationships between the two most vulnerable artists in theatre; the actors who put themselves on stage and the playwrights who pour themselves onto the page. Perhaps these 10-minute plays will grow into longer works or maybe these collaborations will become partnerships on larger projects.
