*PLAYWRIGHTS LOCAL* *Cleveland's home for dramatic writers* Playwrights Local is proud to announce that its recent production, Objectively/Reasonable, will be featured in upcoming events hosted by National Public Radio (NPR) and the Community Partnership for Arts and Culture (CPAC). Hailed by The Plain Dealer as “electric, probing and uncomfortably raw…a play that needs to be seen,” Objectively/Reasonable is a “community response” to the shooting of Tamir Rice in Cleveland on November 22, 2014. This all-original, documentary work is based on interviews with legal experts, social critics, and everyday Clevelanders. On October 18, Playwrights Local will stage an excerpt of Objectively/Reasonable at *“Getting Real About Race,” an event presented as part of a series by NPR’s Michel Martin: Going There*. This live program promises “a conversation that explores how race affects our lives today through the prism of specific issues in Northeast Ohio.” The performance will be presented at *7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2016*, at the Westfield Insurance Studio Theatre in Cleveland’s Playhouse Square (1375 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44115). On November 17, Playwrights Local will present an excerpt from Objectively/Reasonable and host a talkback about our company’s creative process as part of *CPAC’s “Creative Intersections: Moving Forward” event*. “Creative Intersections” is a new series that demonstrates “how arts and culture is serving as a partner in addressing a wide range of community topics.” This event will run from *1:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2016*, at the Bohemian National Hall in Cleveland (4939 Broadway Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44127). Objectively/Reasonable: A Community Response to the Shooting of Tamir Rice, 11/22/14 originally ran from August 18 through September 4, 2016, at the Creative Space at Waterloo Arts (397 E. 156th Street, Cleveland, OH 44110). Directed by Terrence Spivey, this play was praised by Cool Cleveland as “a work that should travel to theaters all over the country…a catharsis” and by Broadway World as “a must-see experience for anyone interested in the real world around them.” Objectively/Reasonable was written by an ensemble of playwrights—Mike Geither, Tom Hayes, Lisa Langford, Michael Oatman, and David Todd—and conceived/edited by Todd. Nordonia Drama Club to host first Dance Camp this weekend!

As the Nordonia High School Drama Club is preparing for a jam-packed year, they will also be hosting three dance camps. This year’s dance camps will be themed around different holidays! The camps, which are open to anyone ages 5 and up, will be held at Nordonia High School. Our Halloween Camp will take place on *October 15, 2016, from 2:30 until 5:00* *PM*. Participants are encouraged to wear their favorite costume! The Winter Holiday Camp will be on *December 17, 2016, from 2:30-5:00 PM*. Finally, our Valentine’s Camp will take place on *February 18, 2017, from 5:00-7:30 PM*. Come join us for a lovely time while mom and dad enjoy an evening out! Each camp will include a dance class led by Drama Club Choreographer Megan Gargano, a craft, snack, and other activities led by the members of the Drama Club. We are looking to cast a diverse group of actors of all ages and types interested in supporting the development of a new work. Entry Point will be a weekend festival of raw art-in-progress-a platform for artists to develop new work that is in early stages of creation. Each project in Entry Point has unique needs and goals. Public presentations during the festival will range from staged readings to presenting short segments of a new work to open rehearsals of the creation process - all in different spaces throughout the CPT campus. For example, audience members may see a staged reading in one space, then see a segment of a devised work in another space, and then close out their evening by hanging out in a casual lounge to share their experiences with fellow audience members and artists. Auditions When: Saturday, October 15th and Sunday, October 16th from 12pm-4pm Where: CPT's Campus (6415 Detroit Ave) Auditions are by appointment only and will be scheduled in one hour increments. Actors will be given sides at the audition for cold readings. They should also come with one prepared contemporary monologue that they may be asked to perform. Actors may also be asked to sing a short a cappella song. Please bring 3 copies of your headshot and resume, if available. Actors should be prepared to stay for the entire hour. Entry Point will need the following commitment: 1. Entry Point will take place from Friday, January 20th through Sunday, January 23nd (new dates!) 2. Rehearsals prior to performance vary with each Entry Point project: some may require as many as 5 weeks of rehearsal and some may require as little as 9 hours. Be prepared to share your availability on your audition form at your scheduled audition. AEA contracts will not be considered. Non AEA actors will receive a very small stipend. The parables are interspersed with a variety of modern music set primarily to lyrics from traditional hymns.
