What exactly is The Manhattan Project - Cleveland Lab? The Manhattan Project is a low-stakes, nonthreatening place for actors and playwrights to meet and work together. Based on the Theatre Lab model taught at the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama and inspired by The Brooklyn Generator in New York, The Manhattan Project wants to introduce Cleveland actors and playwrights to each other by organizing a bi-monthly production of brand new 10-minute plays. Participating artists will meet early in the month and will be broken into teams, each with one playwright. The playwright will then be given a writing prompt to write a new 10-minute play based on the prompt and including all the team's actors. The rest of the evening the team members will get to know each other and get a feel for each other's skills and voices. The teams will reconvene later in the month to perform these plays for each other. These 10-minute plays are not an end in themselves. Through these small collaborations we hope to build relationships between the two most vulnerable artists in theatre; the actors who put themselves on stage and the playwrights who pour themselves onto the page. Perhaps these 10-minute plays will grow into longer works or maybe these collaborations will become partnerships on larger projects. Based on experience, it shouldn't take more than 3-4 hours of rehearsal time to get these plays on their feet. - Playwrights are invited in advance of the Meet & Greet. - *Playwrights are invited based on participation in past Manhattan Project events, so please come to our events so we can get to know you!*

Tickets Are Moving Fast....But There's Still Time! If you haven't made your reservations yet for a unique evening with Thomas Jefferson, you still have time - if you hurry! Yes, you can see Thomas Jefferson (aka J.D. Sutton) when he performs Oct. 7 and 8 for a Strongsville Community Theatre fundraiser. SCT begins its 22nd season with a benefit weekend featuring actor J.D. Sutton personifying Thomas Jefferson in two performances of his one-man show. Friday evening will feature a two-act original performance by Mr. Sutton in "Twilight at Monticello." On Saturday evening SCT will present "Dinner with Thomas Jefferson" as it might have been served to Jefferson's guests at Monticello, followed by Mr. Sutton's performance. Both performances will be at Old Town Hall in the center of Strongsville - 18825 Royalton Road. Tickets for Friday's performance at 8:00 p.m. are $20 in advance, or $25 at the door. Saturday's dinner at 6:00 p.m. is $50.00 per person (in advance only) for a full dinner and performance. Get your reservations early because this event sold out last year. Mr. Sutton has played Thomas Jefferson in /Twilight at Monticello /to rave reviews off-Broadway and at venues throughout "the original 13 states," including Philadelphia's historic Carpenters' Hall. He describes the play as "an intimate encounter with the architect of American Independence. Production release of "Eva Schloss Story"

“Eva Schloss Story” Released for Production J&B Production Arts Services just announced that IMAGES: Remembrances of the Holocaust - THE EVA SCHLOSS STORY is available to schools and theaters that may be interested in producing the play at their venues. The World Premier production was a co-production between J&B Production Arts Services and the Youngstown Playhouse this past August. J.E.Ballantyne, Jr said that some rights restrictions may be applicable if the touring production is playing in the same area at the same time that a school or theater may want to perform the show. A production is currently in the works at a theater in Menomonie, Wisconsin for January of 2017. He went on to explain that the tri-state tour of IMAGES will kick off after the beginning of January 2017. A special assembly length version of the show will also be available to schools that wish to present it to their students during the school day. Currently one show, of the full production, is scheduled in the New Castle, Pa. area with about six other tour dates currently in discussion. They really haven’t promoted the tour, as of yet, but word has gotten out that the tour will take place which has generated early interest. IMAGES is a one-woman show telling the life story of Anne Frank childhood friend and posthumous stepsister, Eva Schloss. It is a very powerful story augmented by multi-media which helps to further illustrate and underscore events in Eva’s life. Eva and her family spent nine months in the infamous Auschwitz Concentration Camp after being arrested while they were in hiding. Ballantyne said that audiences that saw the production at the Playhouse were all very moved by the show and Molly Galano’s performance. Numerous audience members expressed their hope that the show could go far beyond Youngstown and reach as many people as possible. Ms. Galano will be available for the tour but will occasionally turn the role over to another actress, yet to be hired. In related news, the full production video of IMAGES: Remembrances of the Holocaust - THE EVA SCHLOSS STORY will soon be available. The DVD includes the full World Premier production as it was done at the Youngstown Playhouse along with the post-performance discussion with the audience. The DVD sells for $25.00 and should be available before Christmas. Anyone interested in purchasing a copy of the DVD should contact J&B Production Arts Services. I just wanted to let you all know that I've launched an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign for my one-act stage play, *About Michael. * *About Michael *is one of thirty plays named to the shortlist as a semi-finalist of Sky Blue Theatre Company’s 2016 British Theatre Challenge (BTC). This year, for the first time, the organizers of the BTC are offering the playwrights who have made it to the shortlist the awesome opportunity to have their works produced and performed at a professional, London venue in April 2017.
