A Night of Nevermore: A Raven Good Time to Save The Tavern! Date: Friday, October 14, 2016 Where: Rabbit Run Theater, 5648 Chapel Road, Madison, OH 44057 Time: 7pm Contact: Erin Cicero, 440-417-8299 or savethetavern(a)gmail.com On Friday, October 14th, The Unionville Tavern Preservation Society will host “A Night of Nevermore: A Raven Good Time” at historic Rabbit Run Theater in Madison, Ohio. The evening will include a Sweet & Savory Wine Reception, Live Victrola music from Madame L the Time Traveling Victrola DJ, a blind wine raffle, and dramatic portrayal of Edgar Allan Poe by Literary Historian, and living history performer, Rob Velella. The Wine Reception will begin at 7pm and feature three local wineries: Debonne Vineyards, Grand River Cellars, South River Winery. Each ticket to the event will include drink tickets to use towards a combination of samples and/or glasses of wine. Additional drink tickets will be available for additional cost. The dramatic portrayal of Edgar Allan Poe will be performed by Rob Velella. Mr. Velella will entertain questions from the audience following his performance. Tickets for the event are $30 a person and will include a Tavern Logo wine glass, Drink Tickets, appetizers, entertainment and performance by Edgar Allan Poe. Joanna Rush and Tony Award-nominated Lynne Taylor-Corbett to Hold Residency at LCCC

Students in Lorain County Community College's Theatre department will be featured in the premiere performance of "Accidental Mummies" at LCCC on Saturday, October 15. The performance is part of a week-long residency with actor/playwright Joanna Rush and Tony Award-nominated director and choreographer Lynne Taylor-Corbett. The week will include the world premiere of Rush's new play, "Accidental Mummies," a performance of "Kick," a play about sexual assault and recovery, and a workshop on building a community free of sexual assault. The residency will be held Monday, October 10 through Friday, October 15 at LCCC. During the week, Rush and Taylor-Corbett will also present workshops with high school students and LCCC students. For more information about the residency, visit www.stockerartcenter.com Events that are open to the public are: "Kick the Ignorance!" will be held from 12-1 p.m., Tuesday, October 11 in College Center Commons in the College Center building on the LCCC campus. This workshop aims to help build a community free from sexual violence and its impact. The workshop is presented in partnership with the LCCC Theatre program, Women's/Men's Link. Utilizing excerpts from her one-woman show "Kick" and interactive conversation, Rush-- herself a victim of rape-- and Taylor-Corbett share some of the techniques Joanna used to overcome so she could move on. Today, she is not only a gifted and very funny performer, but an inter-spiritual minister who now counsels victims of sexual assault. The one-woman play "Kick" will be performed at 8 p.m., Friday, October 14 in the Stocker Arts Center Cirigliano Studio Theatre. Tickets are $9 for adults and $8 for LCCC students, staff and faculty; children 18 and under; and seniors over 65. Tickets are available at www.stockerartscenter.com. "Kick" was written by Rush and is directed by Taylor-Corbett. The play takes the audience through 30 years and the whirlwind of emotion, laughter and tears needed to heal scars inflicted by religion and sexual assault. Note: Kick contains mature subject matter and may not be appropriate for all. The play "Accidental Mummies" will be performed at 8 p.m., Saturday, October 15 in the Stocker Arts Center Cirigliano Studio Theatre. The event is free. LCCC students will have roles in this new play. Written by Rush, the play follows life-long New Yorker Beverly Beckman on a journey to reinvent herself after the 2007-2009 recession forces her and her husband to downsize and re-evaluate their lives. It follows the story of a high school student with a bright future ahead of him, but heroin and addiction quickly become his top priority. The Mind, the only sober part left of his brain, believes in his ability to become clean, but it’s not that simple. It is very psychological and thought provoking, but not graphic. It will be performed by teens, and is something that is sadly so prevalent in our area right now. *Public Performance: *November 12 at 7:30pm *School day performance: *November 11 in the morning (time TBA, can be flexible based on buses/school needs) *Talkback: *We can provide a talkback about the subject after the show as well.
