Lorain County Metro Parks' French Creek Theatre is proud to announce auditions for... PARADE Music and Lyrics by Jason Robert Brown Book by Alfred Uhry Directed by Joanna May Hunkins Musical Direction by Anthony Trifiletti 1913. Marietta, Georgia. A teenage girl is found murdered in the factory where she works. The town wants justice at any cost, and all eyes turn to her supervisor, a Brooklyn Jew who has never fit in with their southern way of life. Grief, ambition and tragedy come together for a beautiful and stirring musical that challenges our own prejudices. PERFORMANCES May 5-21 Fridays & Saturdays at 7:30PM Sundays at 3:00PM REHEARSALS Begin late March, and usually occur weekday evenings and weekend day/evening hours AUDITIONS Monday, December 5th & Tuesday, December 6th from 7:00PM to 10:00PM Please prepare two short contrasting musical selections in the style of the show (contemporary musical theater) Call (440) 949-5200 to schedule a 5-minute appointment, open daily 10:00AM to 6:00PM Actors ages 18 and up receive a stipend. ROLES A Note About Casting: Parade will be performed with actors doubling and tripling roles. Many of the characters will also play townspeople, mourners, guards, jurors, reporters, etc.). Almost all roles have strong vocal features. Leo Frank (Male 25-35) - Our story's tragic protagonist accused of murder. As National Pencil Factory Superintendent, Leo is neurotic and a serial pessimist. Though married to Lucielle, he is physically and emotionally displaced. A White Jew from the North. Lucille Frank (Female 25-35) - Gentle and mousy, but resourceful and resilient. Despite her husband's feelings, she is a true Southerner but can see through the deception. A White Jew from Georgia. Jim Conley (Male 20-30) - A cleaning supervisor at National Pencil Factory. Secretly, he is a convict on the run. Pompous showman with a strong build. Black Georgian. Mary Phagan (Female 13) - A factory worker at the National Pencil Factory who is murdered. She is very innocent but has moments of sassiness and playfulness. White Georgian. Frankie Epps/Young Soldier (Male 14-18) - A charming and simple man, he is Mary's devoted friend. Playful and flirtatious. White Georgian. Hugh Dorsey (Male 30-45) - Atlanta's District Attorney. He is a devout Christian, who is brute and manipulative at times. Hungry for political success and recognition. White Georgian. Governor John Slaton (Male 30-45) - As the Governor of Georgia, he is highly concerned with public perception. Flirtatious and fun at times. Strives to maintain his values. White Southerner. Tom Watson (Male 25-45) - The passionate editor of the zealot newspaper, The Jeffersonian. He arrives to incite controversy and eventually leads an angry mob. White Georgian. Judge Roan/Old Soldier (Male 50-70) - Serves as the Judge on the infamous trial. Motivated by bigotry and racism, he is dangerously committed to the ideals of the Confederacy. White Georgian. Mrs. Phagan/Sally Slaton (Female 30-45) - Mary's mother, lower class and seeking vindication for her daughter's murder. White Georgian. Sally is the Governor's wife, popular. White Southerner. Britt Craig (Male 25-45) - A washed up reporter who can often be found three sheets to the wind. Weaselly and desperate for his 'big break.' White Georgian. Minnie McKnight/Angela (Female) - Leo and Lucille's maid who sees the racial injustice. Black Southerner. Newt Lee/Riley (Male) - The night watchman at the National Pencil Factory. Initially a suspect, but dismissed and later serves as a witness. Intimidated by the police. Black Southerner. Luther Rosser (Male) - Leo's lawyer. Not equipped for this type of case, a drinker. White Southerner. Iola, Monteen and Essie (Females 13-18) - Factory workers at the National Pencil Factory who were friends of Mary and called to testify. White Georgians. YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN Auditions: Monday, December 5, 2016, 7 - 9 PM Directed/Music Directed by: MATTHEW STEVEN GRITTNER Choreographed by: JENNIFER JUSTICE WHERE: Strongsville Senior Center, 18100 Royalton Rd. (behind the Target store and connected to - and to the left end of - the Ehrnfelt Recreation Center building). WHO: For the 6 named characters, actors from 13 to 32. For the teacher, any gender/age. For ensemble (2-4 people, inc. Woodstock, age <33. WHEN: Dec. 4 & 5, from 7-9PM. No appt. necessary, call-backs by invitation as needed on Dec. 6 at 7PM. No dance at auditions but come dressed to move at callbacks. Rehearsals begin on a light schedule in late February/early March (based on actor and director conflicts), for initial music and character building. Choreography and blocking follow in mid-March thru April. Show dates are April 21, 22, 23 & 28, 29, 30. WHAT TO PREPARE: One 20-32 measure cut in the sytle of the show. One joke or short comedic momologue. Actors auditioning for only the role of teacher do not need to sing. SYNOPSIS: The whole gang is here: Bossy Lucy is hopelessly in love with piano prodigy Schroeder who doesn't give her the time of day; perfoectionist Sally is till mocking blanket-toting Linus; Snoopy is in the doghouse; and "blockhead" himself, Charlie Brown, is in rare form. Brief vignettes, spanning the months from Valentine's Day to Beethoven's birthday, range from wild optimism to utter despair! Whether you're keen to fly with the Red Baron, moon over the Moonlight Sonata, or just do your best to find "happiness", You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown is a crowd-pleasing classic.

And it almost doesn’t exist. Because its residents never got around to getting organized. So it’s just…Almost. One cold, clear Friday night in the middle of winter, while the northern lights hover in the sky above, Almost’s residents find themselves falling in and out of love in the strangest ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. Love is lost, found, and confounded. And life for the people of Almost, Maine will never be the same. AVAILABLE ROLES: MEN: Pete - teens - 30s. A man having marital troubles, he feels more comfortable at work than at home East - 30s - 60s. Down-to-earth handyman falls in love with Glory at first sight. WOMEN: Ginette - teens - 30s. Desperately in love with Pete and will do anything to prove it. Sandrine - 20s - 40s A woman who runs into her ex-boyfriend while at her bachelorette party Gayle - 20s - 30s. A woman who is ready to move on to the next step in her relationship or end it. Rhonda - 20s - 40s. Fun, quirky, thinks of herself as “just one of the guys,” she is afraid to let her relationship with Dave move to the next level. Suzette - 30s - 60s. Daniel’s Wife. Marvalyn - 20s - 40s. Marvalyn and her boyfriend have fallen on hard times, which has caused a lot of strain in their relationship. Hope - 30s - 60s. Regrets choosing career over love, trying to find the man she left behind. Marci - 30s -50s. A woman having marital troubles, feels as though her husband no longer pays attention to anything, and constantly hides her true feelings. Glory - 30s - 60s. Glory believes that she caused the death of her husband, and is having trouble moving on because of her guilt. IMPORTANT: This show is a series a vignettes with 2-3 characters in each. Swingin' Holiday Shindig Friday, December 9th at the Lakewood Masonic Temple

The Lakewood Masonic Temple swing dance at 15300 Detroit Avenue is the longest running swing dance in the Cleveland area. Amazing live music and DJs have been keeping everyone's toes tapping the second Friday of every month since before 1998. We have one of the biggest swing dances in the area with over 150 people attending each month. Attendees have a variety of dance experience (including none) and come from all walks of life and ages. You will not need to bring a dance partner. We rotate partners during the dance lesson. How often do you get to meet 50-100 new people in under an hour? We provide the highest quality swing dance instruction from some of the nicest, most patient people you will ever meet. Our staff includes regional, national and international swing dance competitors (and winners) in multiple swing dance forms. We are offering a little discount on the price of admission for the December 9th dance. Dances are usually $12 per person, but this month we are only charging $10 per person and $5 for first timers. From 8-9pm Get Hep Swing instructors, Loreto Agdinaoay and Corrie Holliday will be teaching a beginner friendly, jitterbug lesson. Remember, you do not need a partner. Loreto aka Lo, will begin the night of DJed music and Corrie will finish up the evening. We have a very special surprise planned for this event so be sure to arrive by 9:15 at the latest or you may miss it. You won't want to miss it. Trust me. We welcome anyone to join us who has an interest in dance, music, socializing and fun. We don't care what your physical ability or size is, where you are in life, where you are on the spectrum of sexual or gender orientation, what color or creed, or non-creed, you are. Are you a man who wants to learn how to follow or a woman who wants to learn how to lead? That's cool! This idea is not new to the swing dance scene. We are the easiest club to join. It is important for us to let you know that this dance style started in the African-American ballrooms of Harlem, New York in the late 1920s/early 1930s.
