CLEVELAND OPERA THEATER is seeking male extras (Supers) to do walk-on roles in the upcoming production of Puccini's *La Boheme, *the original that *RENT* was based on. We are looking for *waiters and soldiers* for a crowd scene that takes place in Paris in the 1840's. This is a non-paid position. Both *younger and older men* are needed. Playwrights Local 4181 is seeking actors for a staged reading in its 2016 Play Lab + Spring Workshops weekend. This new full-length play is JAATHI by Nivi Engineer, and it is directed by Sarah Greywitt with dramaturgy by Arwen Mitchell. The reading will be on Sunday, April 17th at 3:00pm (2:00pm call) at Waterloo Arts in North Collinwood. There will be 1-2 rehearsals between April 2 and 16 (based on actors’ schedules) in the same neighborhood. This reading is unpaid. Workshop Players Theater presents The Game’s Afoot (or Holmes for the Holidays), a comedy by Ken Ludwig, directed by Kristina Rivera. Broadway star William Gillette (Jonathan McCleery), admired the world over for his leading role in the play Sherlock Holmes, has invited his fellow cast members to his Connecticut castle for a weekend of revelry. But when one of the guests is stabbed to death, the festivities in this isolated house of tricks and mirrors quickly turn dangerous. Then it’s up to Gillette himself, as he assumes the persona of his beloved Holmes, to track down the killer before the next victim appears. The danger and hilarity are non-stop in this thrilling and quirky whodunit! The cast also includes Marcia Deist, Dale Hruska, Shelbey Linder, Julie Marchand, Erin Mount, Heidi Sarvis-Sapp and John Telepak. Good Evening, Group of teenagers are constructing acting classes for the ages of 7-12. You will learn: Auditioning tips, How to memorize lines, Stage directions, Dictation, How to get yourself out there, Acting in front of a camera, and so much more! Price: 3$ per session (you must be present to all sessions as we will put on a short film once the classes are over) Who is it ran by: A group of teenage boys, Carson (14) Ben (13) and Frankie (13) Experience: Multiple plays, a 7 day film class, agency signing, and much more When: The classes will be on the weekends from 10:00 AM-3:00 PM Wat to bring: A folder/binder and lunch Audition: You will need to audition to see what skill level you’re at and that will determine your instructor Carson C - Advanced level Ben J - Intermediate level Frankie M - Beginner level Short film: We will be putting on a short film after the completion of the classes. The short film has not yet been determined with no ideas yet. Every person taking these classes will be in the short film but will need to audition to see what part they fit in as. The Electric Pressure Cooker will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 8 pm at None Too Fragile Theater inside Pub Bricco, located at 1841 Merriman Road in Akron, Ohio. The Electric Pressure Cooker is open the public. There is a $5 cover charge or pay-what-you-can at the door. Started in the basement of a flower shop, it is an artist driven event that sees over 100 audience members, 30 performances and 6 non-stop hours of art. Registration for performers begins at 7:30 pm. Performances begin at 8:00 pm. Anyone may sign up for a 10-minute slot. Performers may pre-register at www.watheatre.com/epcooker. An emcee, house drum kit and sound system (with operators) are provided. Matthew Dolan - Cleveland-based Music Director - will assume the emceeing responsibilities. ALL varieties of acts are encouraged to perform. Previous acts have included: monologues, acoustic musicians, play readings, comedians, experimental art, dancers, scenes from plays, improv, devised work, full rock bands and performance artists. But the sky is the limit; no art is too taboo for the #EPCooker! ALL levels – from beginner to the most experienced – are encouraged to perform. Those under 18 are permitted to attend (and perform!) with adult supervision. The #EPCooker is not just an Open Mic. It is an open and welcoming community of artists. EVENT: Dover Players Presents Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes: A Tale of Two Brothers The Dover Players community theater group opens its 2016 season with our eighth Sherlock Holmes production, Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes: A Tale of Two Brothers, directed by Todd Evangelista. Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes: A Tale of Two Brothers Synopsis: Sherlock Holmes, the consulting detective, has a brother named Mycroft Holmes, who is even smarter than he is. Unfortunately, Mycroft could never be a detective, since he only travels between the Diogenes Club, where no one is allowed to talk, and his government office in Whitehall, where he operates as a spymaster to protect the British Empire. When the brothers work together, they are unstoppable, but when Sherlock rebels against Mycroft's orders to kill enemy agents, he ceases to have anything to do with Mycroft. Nevertheless, Sherlock is again forced to go undercover for Mycroft, when criminals threaten England's war effort. Will he be forced to break his oath and kill again? Audience members will have a chance to match wits with the famous detective by giving us your answers at intermission and the best answers will be read at the end of the play.
