Be sure to arrive in time to take part in the easy jitterbug lesson from 8pm to 9pm with Valerie Salstrom and David Aghassi. We always review the basic Jitterbug step, talk about the basics of leading and following, and then show a few new moves. Each lesson is unique and you will always pick up new moves and hints each time you attend a pre-dance lesson at a Get Hep Swing event. These lessons are appropriate for brand spankin' new dancers all the way up to advanced dancers. You will not be disappointed! Immediately after the lesson (at 9 PM) Madison Crawl will kick off an awesome night of music and swing dancing until 12am. Everyone is welcome to come and have fun with us at the swing dance. There is no need to have previous dance experience or a dance partner. We rotate partners during the lesson so you will have the chance to meet and dance with lots and lots of people before the live music even begins! If you are attending the dance with a partner and do not want to rotate, that is fine too. No need to make reservations or buy tickets in advance. The event is $12 per person. $10 for students and seniors with a valid ID. $5 for first timers. The Waterloo Ballroom at the Slovenian Workmen's Home is located in the very artsy and lively Collinwood neighborhood. The address is 15335 Waterloo Rd, Cleveland, Ohio 44110. The Slovenian not only has a beautiful ballroom; they also have a well stocked bar. They have alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks of all kinds for sale--including a very special Slovenian beer- Lasko! There will also be some sweet and savory snacks for sale as well. The sign for the Slovenian has been taken down so please look for the sign for Packy Malleys. Our entrance is just to the left of them. There are TWO parking lots to the right of the ballroom and there is also some street parking as well. Canton Film Fest returns for a 5th year

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Canton Palace Theatre and CantonFilm.com Announce 2016 Canton Film Fest Submission Categories Canton, Ohio (January 14, 2016)-Cantonfilm.com, in association with the Canton Palace Theatre and the Herbert W. Hoover Foundation, will host the 2016 Canton Film Festival in downtown Canton, Ohio on April 21, 22 and 23, 2016. During this three-day film event, the public will get the chance to screen the submitted short films of independent directors from Canton, Stark County, North East Ohio and all across the country. As well as be able to hear from industry leaders in cinematography, directing and acting. 2016 Canton Film Fest categories include: Sports Documentary, Horror/Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Comedy, Action, Music Video and Short Fiction/Drama. All submissions should be no more than 15 minutes each. The early deadline to submit films is Tuesday, March 1, 2016 with a discounted submission fee of $25.00 per entry. Final Deadline is April 1, 2016 with a submission fee of $30.00 per entry. *Auditions for Spotlights’ Summer Youth Musical: "Evita" * Auditions will be held on *Sunday, April 10 *and* Monday, April 11 *at *6:00 p.m.* Invited callbacks will be held on the evening of Wednesday, April 13. Rehearsals will begin the week of April 24. The show runs June 16 – 26. The show will be co-directed by Tim Anderson and Maggie Majercik. Ryan Bergeron will be the music director. Based on the true story of Eva Peron, First Lady of Argentina from 1946 until her death in 1952, this musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice won the 1980 Tony for Best Musical. Performers (ages 11 to 20) are invited to audition for principle roles and the highly-featured ensemble. Younger children (ages 7 & up) will be seen for roles in a children’s chorus. Those aged 10 – 20 who are auditioning should: · Plan to attend only one night. · Be somewhat familiar with the show, its themes, and music. · Prepare two contrasting songs (1 ballad, 1 up tempo), preferably written after 1975. · Bring sheet music in the correct keys, hole-punched in a three-ring binder. CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN is a funny, heart-warming and family-friendly tale that is based on the true story of the Gilbreth family. Frank Gilbreth Sr., the family patriarch, is well-known for bringing efficiencies into factory workplaces and applies those same principles to his home in an effort to keep his family of 12 children running smoothly. Told from the point of view of two of his children, the story reflects the last few months before their father's death, as Frank Sr. was preparing his family for his imminent departure despite the fact that most of his children were unaware that his passing was near. CHARACTER BREAKDOWN — The production calls for five adult actors (3 women, 2 men) and eleven children. Ages are “playable” ages: MR. GILBRETH (Dad): Early 40s to mid-50s. Carries himself with the self-assurance of a successful man who is proud of his wife and family as well as his business accomplishments. Though a disciplinarian, he loves nothing so much as a good joke, preferably one on himself. MRS. GILBRETH (Mother): Early 40s to mid-50s. A gracious, attractive woman. She is also a psychologist. In her own way she is often able to get better results with her large family more so than her disciplinarian husband. ANNE: The oldest, about 17. Attractive, sweet natured, but stands up to her father. ERNESTINE: About 15. Also the Co-Narrator. MARTHA: About 14. Speaks some German. FRANK JR: About 16. Also the Co-Narrator. BILL, LILLIAN, FRED, DAN, JACKIE: The younger children (ages variable from 5–13). MRS. FITZGERALD: The housekeeper — a kind woman who is completely devoted to the family. Sometimes her patience is tried by the ongoing chaos of the large family (age 40-70). DR. BURTON: The family doctor — a plain spoken man (age 40 - 60). JOE SCALES: Anne's age (about 17) — a very short, cocky cheerleader. MISS BRILL: A teacher who has no love for the children, and they have none for her (age 35 - 50). LARRY: Anne's age (about 17), nice-looking, clean cut boy. Anne's "special friend."
