Nurture your passion and talent with passionate and experienced teachers.Students will experience the joy of dance while building confidence, poise, technique, and increasing their social circle of friends in classes encouraging each student's maximum potential. The summer session begins June 20tt�through August 13 including Princess Camps and a new two-week Nutcracker Workshop. Camps are designed around dancers' ages and experience levels, for ages 3 to 21. Students of all ages will explore movement together and develop long lasting friendships and life-skills. Advance placement is recommended for all students over the age of 9 for the summer course. Dancers also have the opportunity to perform at the Grove in August. Register early to receive a discount! Auditions for Evita, Summer Youth Production

*Auditions for Spotlights’ Summer Youth Musical: "Evita"* Auditions will be held on *Sunday, April 10 *and* Monday, April 11 *at *6:00 p.m.* Invited callbacks may be held on the evening of Wednesday, April 13. Rehearsals will begin the week of April 24. The show runs June 16 – 26. The show will be co-directed by Tim Anderson and Maggie Majercik. Ryan Bergeron will be the music director. Based on the true story of Eva Peron, First Lady of Argentina from 1946 until her death in 1952, this musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice won the 1980 Tony for Best Musical. Performers (ages 10 to 20) are invited to audition for principle roles and the highly-featured ensemble. Younger children (ages 7 & up) will be seen for roles in a children’s chorus. Those aged 10 – 20 who are auditioning should: - Plan to attend only one night. - Be somewhat familiar with the show, its themes, and music. - Prepare two contrasting songs (1 ballad, 1 up tempo), preferably written after 1975. - Bring sheet music in the correct keys, hole-punched in a three-ring binder. (Singers will not be permitted to sing *a cappella*) - Bring a list of conflicts between April 24 and June 26 (including school concerts, lessons, practices, and games). City Ballet of Cleveland2016 Audition�Date: April 10, 2016Time: 1:00 pm-2:30 pmFollowed by Parents’ Meeting at 2:30 pm� The City Ballet of Cleveland (CBC) audition is open to all serious dancers of ballet ages 10-21.� The company has two annual performances in May and December, as well as performances at All Ohio Dance Festival, Regional Dance America, and local schools.� Applications are available upon request at the Front Desk and online at www.cityballetofcleveland.org �under Company information. Potential dancers do not have to be students at Cleveland City Dance.� If you do make it into the Company, you would need your current dance school to sign off monthly to confirm you are taking the required dance training in order to dance with the Company. All potential Company members must audition in the Spring prior to the upcoming season. This includes all current Company members.� There is a $25 non-refundable audition (cash or check) which will be applied toward the Company fall participation fee. The audition class will be taught by the Company Artistic and Executive Director, Courtney J. Laves-Mearini. �If unable to attend the April audition.� In lieu of an in-personal audition, one may submit a DVD audition. The DVD audition requirements are: A 15-20 minutes demonstration of barre and center technique.� The barre technique shown should include pli�s, battement tendus, battement j�t�, ronde de jambe, pass�, d�velopp� en croix, grande battements and balances on one leg.� The center technique should include adagio, pirouettes, petite allegro and grande allegro.� (For advance female dancers the center should be on pointe.) What exactly is The Manhattan Project - Cleveland Lab? The Manhattan Project is a low-stakes, nonthreatening place for actors and playwrights to meet and work together. Based on the Theatre Lab model taught at the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama and inspired by The Brooklyn Generator in New York, The Manhattan Project wants to introduce Cleveland actors and playwrights to each other by organizing a bi-monthly production of brand new 10-minute plays. Participating artists will meet early in the month and will be broken into teams, each with one playwright. The playwright will then be given a writing prompt to write a new 10-minute play based on the prompt and including all the team's actors. The rest of the evening the team members will get to know each other and get a feel for each other's skills and voices. The teams will reconvene later in the month to perform these plays for each other. These 10-minute plays are not an end in themselves. Through these small collaborations we hope to build relationships between the two most vulnerable artists in theatre; the actors who put themselves on stage and the playwrights who pour themselves onto the page. Perhaps these 10-minute plays will grow into longer works or maybe these collaborations will become partnerships on larger projects.
