Coercion Theatre will be hosting a night where those in, or interested in, theatre can come and relax, while having discussions about timely subjects in our field. We will also have monologues and scenes for people to get up, perform and receive feedback and direction. Directors or aspiring directors can also try their hand at this. We will have our equity candidate Stage Manager there who will start conversations about that aspect, and in future meetings we will tackle designing. This will be a fun, communal gathering to get to know each other, expand our network, and do it in a fun environment that will be actively engaging in theatre activities and discussion. Snacks and drink provided (non alcoholic). Where: 318 Cleveland ave ne #212 Canton, OH 44721. (Go inside the 2nd April Gallerie all the way to the back and up the stairs. SYNOPSIS: Seymour is a hapless floral shop clerk who raises a strange and exotic plant with an insatiable appetite for human blood. This plant may just be his ticket out of "Skid-Row" and to win the girl of his dreams...but can they escape the plant's scheme for world domination? Mixing Motown, B-movies, and the American Dream, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS is a screamingly funny, gleefully twisted, out-of-this-world hit musical. Bari-Tenor; vocal range: A2-G4 Audrey: Female, mid 30s - early 40s, All Ethnicities A girl from the wrong side of the tracks who always finds herself dating the wrong guy. A sweet gal with low self esteem but beautiful dreams. Ellen-Greene-type. Soprano with mix/belt; vocal range G#3-D5 Mr. Mushnik: Male, 50s, Caucasian Seymour and Audrey's boss and owner of a failing East Side "Skid-Row" flower shop. Profit driven, greedy and manipulative. Baritone; vocal range G2-F4 Crystal, Ronette and Chiffon: Female, 18 - late 20s, All Ethnicities Street urchins who act as the Greek Chorus throughout the production. Young, hip, and full of "swag"; these girls are the only oneswho have a grip on reality. Low Alto to Belt Soprano; vocal range Ab3-F5. Strong dance abilities are necessary; the choreographer is looking for performers who can execute choreography in the style of Yanis Marshall with 1950s elements integrated. Orin Scrivello D.D.S.: Male, 30s, All Ethnicities An egotistical "bad-boy" dentist wiht a dark sadistic side. This actor also plays other roles throughout the show and must have strong comedic chops. Baritone; vocal range G2-G4 Voice of the Plant "Audrey II": Male, 18+, All Ethnicities An actor/vocalist with a strong R&B and soul voice; located offstage. A conniving, street-smart "villain" who is a cross between Wolfman Jack, Barry White and Levi Stubbs. " Monster in the Closet" Auditions SUNDAY, JUNE 26TH FROM 5:00-7:00 PM What is "Monster in the Closet" about? Emily has a big problem. Not only is she sent to bed just as she reaches the highest level of her new video game, but there's a monster in her closet! It's not just her imagination. Her friend Stephanie saw it, too. Suffering the teasing of her brother and his friends, Emily and Stephanie recruit some of their own friends to help capture the monster. What they don't know is that Murray, the closet monster, doesn't mean any harm - he only wants to play Emily's new video game. He's too scared of kids to even think about trying to frighten them. Murray's boss, the Dream King, has heard about his goofing off on the job, and now Murray is on probation. Murray's supervisor, fellow monster Wanda, is not happy with him either. After all, every monster knows that when a child is born, a monster is assigned to watch over her - not to play with her toys and especially not to get caught in the act! What will happen when Emily has all her friends over for a sleepover to try to capture Murray? Even with Emily's friend Brain's careful analysis and planning, the girls wind up trapping the Dream King and his secretary, Toady, instead of Murray. With other wonderfully entertaining characters like Sandy the Sandman and his dream weavers, the solution to Emily's monster problem brings humor, a bit of ingenuity and a little magic to this charming and delightful family show. He has a sister who is keeping a secret from everyone, which turns out to be the secret everyone should've known!! Granny won't give up and Grandpa knows better.
