CLEVELAND PLAY HOUSE AUDITIONING AFRICAN AMERICAN FEMALES, AGE 21-30, FOR CLASSROOM MATINEE TOURING PROGRAM Cleveland Play House (CPH) is seeking a Non-Equity African-American Female Actor, early to late 20s, for our unique Classroom Matinee Touring Program. This program brings live, professional theatre and theatre education programs to K-8 classrooms across Ohio, Pennsylvania and Michigan. Experience as a teaching artist is a plus, though not required. This position pays $480 per week. A 20 week contract (August 15 - December 21, 2016) is available. Performances and related teaching takes place almost exclusively on weekdays, during school hours. Occasional overnight travel is required with housing and per diem provided by CPH. Performances may occasionally be during the evening or on weekends as well. The actor will perform multiple roles, in two different, hour-long original productions. Actors should have strong command of voice and physicality, and ability to differentiate characters with minimal costume change. In addition to performing, actors will conduct educational programs that accompany performances. Actors must also be able to lift 50lbs, have a valid driver's license, and pass a Federal Background Check. Auditions are by appointment only, and will take place Thursday, June 30th, from 3-5:30pm, in CPH's downtown rehearsal studios. Audition Appointments will last 30 minutes.Actors should prepare two contrasting monologues of 1-2 minutes each, from contemporary plays. (Please no Theatre for Young Audience pieces.) You'll also be asked to talk about potential workshop ideas related to the themes of one of the Classroom Matinee plays. In his wise text, THE FOUR LOVES, C.S. Lewis suggests that all love expressed between individuals boils down to either Affection, Friendship, Eros, or Charity. It's this structure that we'll use to map out the web of relationships in William Inge's play, BUS STOP, a seriocomic classic that chronicles the lengths its 8 characters will go to to experience the love they so deeply desire. A terrific ensemble cast will be selected at auditions on August 14th (1-4 PM) and August 15th (7-9 PM), Aurora Community Theatre, 115 East Pioneer Trail in Aurora. Rehearsals will begin around December 11th, with performances January 27 - February 18, 2017, on Friday and Saturday evenings. All roles are available. Need 3 women, late teens through 60s. Need 5 men, 20s through 60s. Cowboys, waitresses, a bus driver, a local sheriff, a depraved professor, a chanteuse: it's all in here. Those auditioning can bring a headshot and resume if they have them, and should prepare a 2-3 minute monologue or can read something provided from the script. Rubber City Shakespeare Company is holding season auditions for its 2016/2017 season on *June 25 from 10:30am-1pm, and June 26 from 1-5pm*. The 2016/2017 season includes A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Tempest, A Christmas Carol, Cymbeline, Julius Caesar, and Lear. *All roles are available*. We are casting non equity actors who will receive a stipend and we are casting one Equity actor next season under the special appearance agreement. See breakdown on the website for more details. Rehearsals are generally Sunday through Thursday from 6:30-10pm with the exception of tech week which rehearsals run 6:30-11pm with a double run the Sunday before we open. Shows are Thursday through Saturday at 7:30pm and Sunday's at 2:00pm. Carol will have two Saturday matinees at 2:00pm. Additional auditions will be held for all shows except Midsummer. "Secrets of a Woman" is a story of a young man, who is troubled by the streets. He has a sister who is keeping a secret from everyone, which turns out to be the secret everyone should've known!!
