CLEVELAND PLAY HOUSE (CPH) HOLDING A CHRISTMAS STORY AUDITIONS FOR CHILDREN OF ALL RACES/ETHNICITES Cleveland Play House (CPH) is casting children ages 7-12, of all races and ethnicities, for its production of A Christmas Story, directed by John McCluggage. All positions are paid. Auditions are by appointment only. For BOYS AND GIRLS: Auditions will be held FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 9th from 5:30pm-8:30-pm & SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 10th from 10:00am-2:00pm. FINAL CALLBACKS: will be held on SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 10th from 3:00pm-6:00p.m. Auditions will take place in CPH's rehearsal spaces, located on the fifth floor of the Middough Building, at 1901 E. 13th Street in Downtown Cleveland. Performers will audition with sides from the script, which will be sent when an appointment is set. Please note that children who will be 13 or older on 12/23/16 are ineligible to audition Rehearsals begin on Tuesday, November 1st, and will be held after school and on weekends, Tuesday-Sunday. The week of November 21st rehearsals will be during school hours. There will be no rehearsal on Thanksgiving Day. Performances are 8 shows a week from Nov. 25th - Dec. 23rd. Children will miss part or all of nine school days for rehearsal and performances. Characters: Ralphie - (9-12) Obsessed with planting the seeds to assure the ultimate Christmas present: a genuine Red Ryder BB gun. Has a wild imagination, is unsure of his feelings for Esther Jane, and is persistent, curious, and dramatic. Flick - (9-12, any race/ethnicity) One of Ralphie's best friends. A follower who is easy to pick on. Can't resist the triple dog dare and gets his tongue stuck to a lamppost. Has a sore arm. Also plays a Desperado. Schwartz - (9-12, any race/ethnicity) Another of Ralphie's buddies. He likes trouble. He's a little more on the ball than Flick and gets him to do things he probably shouldn't. Also plays a Desperado. Esther Jane -(9-12, any race/ethnicity) Has a crush on Ralphie. Sweet, girly and likeable. Best friends with Helen. Helen - (9-12, any race/ethnicity) Smartest girl in class. Likes to talk politics and gossip. Best friends with Esther Jane. Randy - (7-10) Ralphie's mischievous little brother who has a true fascination with Santa. Has to use the restroom at inopportune times. Ability to focus and to be still a plus. INFORMATION ON REGISTRATION: Registration is now open for Talespinner Children’s Theatre’s Fall Youth Theatre Arts Classes. This upcoming session, classes are September 17th - November 12th (no classes October 15th). At TCT, your young artist will have the chance to practice confidence, collaboration, expression and to stretch their imagination muscles with TCT's professional artist staff. TCT, Cleveland's only professional theatre for children, offers three in-house Youth Theatre Arts courses per year. They take place on location at TCT, 5209 Detroit Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44102—a 188 seat, ADA compliant theatre located on the eastern edge of the Detroit-Shoreway area of Cleveland's near west side. Classes are held on Saturdays for eight-week sessions and are broken down in appropriate age groups and scheduled as follows: September 17th - November 12th (no classes October 15th) Pre-School (ages 3-5) Saturdays 10-11am Kids (ages 6-10) & Early Teens (ages 11-14) Saturdays 10am-noon Through puppets, music, movement, improvisation, story-telling and acting, students develop communication skills, teamwork, confidence, and creative expression. Dear Cleveland Theatre Community, and anyone to whom you pass on this message, We have a fast and easy job just made for wonderful theatre folk, college students getting ready to return to school, and anyone who loves flowers or staging things! Creations By Lynn, voted Scene Magazine's Cleveland's Best Florist, is looking for some help with a wedding set-up and tear-down THIS SATURDAY, August 20th at La Centre, 25777 Detroit Road in Westlake. Creations is doing the flowers for a HUGE AND VERY COOL Indian wedding which starts in the morning so we need 5-7 people as loaders and arrangers, starting at 3am Saturday morning until about 8am, and then again 2-6pm to tear down and re-arrange for the reception. Dress is comfortable (sweats, longer shorts or jeans, plain colored tee-shirts with no designs or comfortable short-sleeves, sneakers or comfortable shoes.) Pay is $8.00/hour for a minimum of 8 hours, and a maximum of 10 hours, paid out at the end of the day.
