Teenage Boy needed for Beck Center Production

Beck Center is still seeking a young actor for the role of Daniel in Samuel D. Hunter's "*A Great* *Wilderness*". The role is described as being 16 years old and on the thin side. Young actors of any age (high school or college) who can reasonably portray 15, 16 or 17 are encouraged to reply. The production opens in Beck's intimate Studio Theatre on March 3rd and plays through April 9th (Fri/Sat/Sun schedule only). Rehearsals are slated to begin shortly. This is an amazing opportunity for any young actor, and you are guaranteed to be working alongside some of NE Ohio's top professional talent. The character of Daniel finds himself transported to a remote Idaho wilderness camp with the intent of counseling him using Gay Conversion Therapy methods. This script is less about the inherent ideological conflict and instead is a terrific character piece which cascades toward a jarring turn of events. Some conflicts can be negotiated in terms of the rehearsal process. Any students between the ages of 14-19 years old, who have reached an advanced level of classical ballet training, and is currently training at a classical ballet institution. More about Cleveland Ballet Youth Company Training Under the Artistic Direction of Gladisa Guadalupe, Associate Artistic Director, Tuni Deignan, and Ballet Master, Cynthia Graham, members of the CBYC will participate in a well-balanced schedule of classes and rehearsals that will include: classical ballet technique, pointe, variations, character and modern. In addition and to compliment the ballet curriculum, classes on pilates, yoga, injury prevention and preparation, and guidance for auditions are also implemented. Choreography Members of the CBYC will be exposed to and work closely with artistic faculty of Cleveland Ballet Company as well as other noted choreographers. Performances Members will obtain performance experience through outreach performances, in studio presentations, as well as theatre performances. DEADLINE TO APPLY: February 17, 2017 Description of Position The Artistic Associate (AA) works as an assistant to Executive Artistic Director who leads the interwoven artistic and education programming. This position is a year-round, salaried, staff position well over 40 hours a week. Salary range $28,000-32,000, commensurate with experience. The position includes health benefits. The Artistic Associate works collaboratively across all departments managing calendars, maintaining and growing partnerships, representing CPT in community meetings, collaborating on new program development, assistant-producing and line-producing shows, education programs and special events. Experience in professional theatre is a must, with a minimum of 1 year of full-time theatre work or 3 years of consistent freelance work or equivalent. Experience in producing plays is important and experiences in new play development, education, devised theatre, community organizing and production management would be very helpful. CPT primarily produces work that is outside the mainstream theatre, so a past history of such work indicates a potentially good fit. All positions at CPT work across departmental lines and the AA is involved in nearly all aspects of the theatre. The AA will be very involved in three aspects of CPT's programming: the season of plays (including our new play development work); special community events, especially Station Hope, a neighborhood festival focusing on the triumphs of the Underground Railroad and challenges of current issues of inequity and social justice; and CPT core education programs that teach theatre creation techniques to under-privileged youth and adults. Education and Artistic staff at CPT are expected to engage in their own artistic work and growth. The successful candidate will be collaborative, eager to learn and dedicated to working in theatre. Candidate must possess excellent logistics skills, and have the creativity to create warm, exciting, empowering community experiences for our programs' participants and families. HBTI announces AUDITIONS for its summer productions of *Children of Eden* and *Side Show.* *Sean Grandillo *(TV: The Real O'Neal's, Scream, Law & Order: SVU; Broadway: Spring Awakening) had this to say about his time working with Fred Sternfeld and Bebe Weinberg Katz on *Children of Eden* while he was in high school... "*Children of Eden* was a turning point for me. As an artist, as a person… There's something about this piece and the family it creates that is very special. I came to the show a total novice in the theater, and I left with a confidence and a love for this art form that I never could have imagined. I was thrilled to hear Fred and Bebe are putting the show on again. They were the director and choreographer of the production that meant so much to me a little more than six years ago. My advice is, if you're on the fence, do it. This is the kind of show to do. The kind of show that KIDS are LUCKY to get to do.
