Ensemble Theatre Announces AUDITIONS for the World Premiere production of: Mama/Moon By Tom Frattare. A preponderance of the audition will consist of cold readings from the Mama/Moon script. Please come dressed to move. Callbacks: If needed, TBA. Production Run Dates: March 9th through March 25th Synopsis: Amazingly, two Rock and Roll legends, Mama Cass and Keith Moon, both died at age of 32 in the same London flat about four years apart in the mid-1970's. MAMA / MOON is the story of the last few hours in each of their lives. It's a play about Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll. But also about the whirlwind of celebrity and the all too often side affects of loneliness and addiction on the road to Redemption. In the first half of MAMA / MOON, Mama Cass Elliot, formerly of The Mamas and The Papas, and fresh off a career-capping, two week, sold out, solo engagement at the London Palladium, tries to complete her comeback by enticing a young admirer into becoming the most meaningful relationship in her life. In the second half of MAMA / MOON, Keith Moon, the innovative and wildly eccentric and erratic drummer for the rock band The Who, tries desperately, despite his hell-raising ways, to hold on to his job, his sanity and his longtime girlfriend, before time runs out. In the end, Keith and Cass become closer friends than anyone could imagine. Post Thanksgiving Swing Dance 11/25 at the Slovenian Workmen's Home with the Moonshine Rhythm Club from Nashville

Join us for a post Thanksgiving Swing Dance on Saturday, November 25th at the Slovenian Workmen’s Home. Everyone is welcome to attend. Hosted by Get Hep Swing. No need to have previous dance experience. No need to bring a dance partner. Beginner friendly jitterbug dance lesson from 8-9. We rotate partners during the lesson so you will have the chance to dance with at least half of the people in the room, some with lots of swing dance experience and some with none at all, but it is all fun! Come to dance, to learn, to listen, to socialize! This event is a party with fun music and dancing! The cost is $12 per person, $10 for students and seniors with a valid ID, & $5 for first-timers. No need to bring a dance partner as we rotate partners during the lesson. If you would prefer not to rotate, that is fine too. 9-12 The Moonshine Rhythm Club from Nashville hits the stage. Moonshine Rhythm Club brings old-school swing and jazz to life with joyful arrangements and energetic playing that makes this vintage music sound like it was written this morning. The boys seek out deep cuts from the 30s and 40s, take their favorite parts from classic big band recordings, and distill them into their signature sound. That sound draws on the guitar-driven, acoustic fire of gypsy jazz, as well as the slow burn and laid-back groove of later artists like Count Basie and Nat “King” Cole. On top of this lays classy and hip vocals with a lighthearted humor. Most of the band members grew up in the modern jazz scene. They loved the playful energy and improvisation of the music but eventually found it lacking in audience accessibility. They discovered a broad appeal in the trad jazz revival of New York, New Orleans and elsewhere, music filled with catchy melodies and a danceable, swinging groove. Rhythm guitarist Eddie Rutland, in the meantime, was immersed in the Lindy Hop dance scene, honing his rhythmic skills as an award-winning swing dancer and instructor. When he and lead vocalist/guitarist Ryan Leet decided to start a gypsy jazz band, they pulled in veteran bass and tuba player Eric Heveron-Smith, who has appeared with many of the notable bandleaders of the vintage swing renaissance, including Bria Skonberg, Michael Gamble, Jonathan Stout and Solomon Douglas. Heveron-Smith’s mellow vocals provide a perfect complement to the effortless cool of Leet’s voice. The addition of Charles Kay on sax and clarinet and Josh Irwin on electric archtop guitar solidified their American swing roots. Moonshine Rhythm Club has brought its energetic acoustic presence from its hometown scene of Nashville to festivals and dances around the country. They tour heavily, trying to bring vintage music to audiences both initiated and unfamiliar with jazz. Their regular street performances turn the heads and grab the hearts of passers-by. They have also done performances and educational workshops for kids, including a Christmas collaboration with the world-renowned puppeteers at the Nashville Library. Currently, the band is working on a series of EPs paying homage to bandleaders that have inspired them, beginning with Artie Shaw, Django Reinhardt and Count Basie. http://moonshinerhythmclub.com/ The Waterloo Ballroom at the Slovenian Workmen's Home is located in the very artsy and lively Collinwood neighborhood. We provide the highest quality swing dance instruction from some of the nicest, most patient people you will ever meet. Our staff includes regional, national and international swing dance competitors (and winners) in multiple swing dance forms. We welcome anyone to join us who has an interest in dance, music, socializing and fun. We don't care what your physical ability or size is, where you are in life, where you are on the spectrum of sexual or gender orientation, what color or creed, or non-creed, you are. Are you a man who wants to learn how to follow or a woman who wants to learn how to lead? That's cool! This idea is not new to the swing dance scene. We are the easiest club to join. It is important for us to let you know that this dance style started in the African-American ballrooms of Harlem, New York in the late 1920s/early 1930s. This dance has a gritty earthiness that is incredibly empowering and joyful. We can't wait for you to experience this conversation of dance with us. Attire is anything from casual to dressy. The best shoes to wear are comfortable and will allow you to pivot and turn easily. The Slovenian not only has a beautiful ballroom; they also have a well-stocked bar. Please join us for our annual Halloween Swing dance at the Waterloo Ballroom in the Slovenian Workmen's Home. Be sure to arrive in time to take part in the easy jitterbug lesson from 8pm to 9pm. We always review the basic Jitterbug step, talk about the basics of leading and following, and then show a few new moves. Each lesson is unique and you will always pick up new moves and hints each time you attend a pre-dance lesson at a Get Hep Swing event. These lessons are appropriate for brand new dancers all the way up to advanced dancers. You will not be disappointed! Immediately after the lesson (at 9 PM) the band Hepcat Revival will kick off an awesome night of music and swing dancing until 12am. Costume contest during the first band break. Everyone is welcome to come and have fun with us at this swing dance. There is no need to have previous dance experience or a dance partner. No need to make reservations or buy tickets in advance. "Alice in Wonderland" Costumes for Sale

Flashes of Hope, a charitable organization dedicated to celebrating and supporting pediatric cancer patients while also funding research for a cure, partnered with the Cleveland Cavaliers to host the annual "Big Shots & Little Stars" fundraiser on Wednesday night. The theme of the evening was "Alice in Wonderland," and a number of costumes that were made for the event are available for sale! Halloween is just around the corner...but the costumes could also be suitable for theatre productions or any Alice-themed event. The costumes were made to fit teen/adult women, and each measures between 5'5" and 5'11" tall, with waist sizes ranging from 26" - 30" and bust sizes ranging from 34" - 39"; I can provide specific measurements for each costume on inquiry. They were inspired by the contemporary (Tim Burton) Disney film, rather than the 1951 classic, but none are actual copies of the film costumes. You can see the costumes in action on the Cavs.com video coverage of "Big Shots & Little Stars," or I can provide photos. All of the costumes were worn for a few hours on Wednesday night, so they are used -- but you'd never know it, they are in next-to-new condition! They're for sale for only $75.00 each, with the Queen of Hearts for $100.00 - the fabric alone in each of these would cost more than this, but we just don't have the room to store them!
