Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach (ORMACO) presents Wadsworth musician and singer/songwriter David Zuder in “Something Borrowed, Something Blues: Basic Songwriting” in a one hour concert on Sunday, October 8 at 2pm at the Wadsworthh Public Library, 132 Broad Street, Wadsworth,Ohio 44281. David can be seen and heard in area coffee shops and restaurants throughout the area on weekends. His musical influences include rock, rockabilly, classical, ragtime and blues. Band influences include The Beatles, Boston, Eighties Metal and Alternative. David will present a combination of original and popular cover songs and will also demonstrate how songwriters use and sometimes borrow the same elements and chord progressions in different and unique ways to make the song their own. *Lakeland Civic Theatre* *Seeks a * *SET DESIGNER for* *Merrily We Roll Along* Music and Lyrics by *Stephen Sondheim* Book by *George Furth* Directed by *Martin Friedman* Musical Direction by *Jordan Cooper* Sound Designed by *Eric Simna* Choreography by *Jennifer Pogue* *The Position: * The position we are seeking is for a set designer to work with a wonderful group of people on the Lakeland Theatre's production of *Merrily We Roll Along. *This play presents certain creative challenges that demand a person of not only a proven ability to collaborate but also of using their design abilities to the utmost. The theatre is a classic proscenium arch design which has it's idiosyncrasies; good and bad. The position also includes a Technical Director and carpenter (to be hired). There is also a House Tech on premises. *The Play: Lakeland's production will open on February 2, 2018 and close on February 19. * *Merrily We Roll Along, *written in 1981, is based on a 1934 play by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart. The musical (with a book by George Furth) was first produced in November of 1981, where it ran for 17 performances. Not very successful eh? It tells of the disintegration of the friendship of successful songwriter Franklin Shepard, his lyricist and best friend Charlie Kringas, and novelist Mary Flynn. The action moves backward through time, from 1976 to 1957. This is one of Stephen Sondheim’s most accessible and difficult scores. It is most certainly about friendship and its importance in the lives of three people. This show has great personal meaning to me. And while the book is problematic; I am confident that our production team and the actors that are cast can overcome this. Baldwin Wallace Job Search: Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) – Theatre – Lighting Design The Department of Theatre and Dance at Baldwin Wallace University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor faculty position in Lighting, beginning August 2018. The successful candidate will teach courses in the theatre program; design for our mainstage season; teach additional courses in area of expertise (i.e., sound, theatre technology, projections, Vectorworks, etc.); advise students. Service on department and university-wide committees is expected. The Department of Theatre and Dance at Baldwin Wallace University offers a BFA in Acting with an emphasis in classical drama, and a BA in Theatre (with four tracks: Acting/Directing, Stage Management, Dance, and Tech/Design). The department works closely with the Music Theatre and Opera programs, and we have a partnership with Great Lakes Theater.
