WEEKEND HAPPENINGS AT THE WEST THEATER IN BARBERTON Laughs, wrestling and a free movie are on the bill this weekend at The West Theater in Barberton, Ohio. Friday, July 28th it will be Abbot & Costello in AFRICA SCREAMS at 7:30. Tickets are $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for children & senior citizens. Then on Saturday, July 29th Mid Ohio Wrestling returns to The West after a 9 year absence with the big Barberton Brawl event at 6:00. Tickets are $10.00 and are available at the door the night of the event. The weekend wraps up on Sunday, July 30th with a free showing of BABYLON USA at 5:00. Next weekend look for a W.C. IMPROV AMONG THE RUINS! Cleveland Improv Jam is hosting a giant Improv Jamboree on Sunday, August 6th (3pm-6pm) at Coffee Phix in South Euclid! The Construction at the South Euclid Marc's has hampered the walk-in traffic at Coffee Phix this summer. This Improv Jam cash mob is to help out Jackie, who has given the Improv Jam a home for 1 1/2 years. We'll have improv from the 'Angry Ladies of Improv', 'Asking For A Friend', and 'Crooked River Comedy.' We'll finish with a jam open to any Improvisers who want to join in! Madison Local Schools (Lake County) is seeking a Choreographer for the High School Show Choir for the 2017-2018 school year. Must have experience in show choir and/or musical theatre choreography. The responsibilities include choreographing 4-5 songs for the fall, 2-3 for the Holiday season, 3-4 for the winter. Rehearsals will be scheduled to accommodate these demands in accordance with your schedule and ours. You'll learn numbers created by Bob Fosse, Jerome Robbins, and Michael Bennett, discover their unique language for dance, approach acting from a physical world with "Viewpoints" and "Laban," explore original Broadway choreography with a Broadway dancer from a hit musical, and much more! The weekend will culminate in a final showcase, presenting workshopped choreography from the intensive and featured numbers from CMT's guest faculty members. *ABOUT THE FACULTY* *THAYNE JASPERSON:* Thayne is currently playing Samuel Seabury in the Broadway company of Hamilton, a role which he originated. He has also appeared on Broadway in the companies of Matilda & Newsies, as well as in Finding Neverland at the American Repertory Theatre. Thayne is known for being a finalist on Season 4 of So You Think You Can Dance, and for his appearances in High School Musical & High School Musical 2. MARTÍN CÉSPEDES: Martín has recently choreographed The Cleveland Foundation 101th Gala (Sir Ken Robinson keynote speaker), and As You Like It for Great Lakes Theater, Idaho Shakespeare, and Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival.
