Kopps is a story of four men, who secretly get injected with a serum, that enhance their inner abilities. They later join forces in "Operation: Kopps", to assist in the take down of Charlie Diablo, aka "The Devil", who is the main distributor of a liquid drug, Rakmar. Aspiring young playwrights in grades 7-10 are invited to join us for the workshop, running July 10-21, 2017. This workshop has been made possible with the generous help of a grant from Cuyahoga Arts and Culture (CAC). ONLY A FEW DAYS LEFT TO SIGN UP! Do you have an aspiring thespian in your home? Know a future producer? Are you aware of bright young writer waiting to tell their story? Clague Playhouse has the answer for young creative minds this July. The program, which will run Mondays through Fridays, 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Clague Playhouse, is a two-week, hands on workshop where students collaborate with each other and professionals in the fields of Creative Writing and Dramatic Arts to create, produce, and ultimately perform original one-act plays for a live audience on the Clague Playhouse stage. Students will have opportunities to fulfill writing, acting, and production roles. Lunch will be provided each day. There will be two culminating performances on July 21 and 22 at 7:00pm. See the staged reading culmination of a week-long workshop for some of the Cleveland area's newest and brightest children's theatre playwrights! At the completion of the 2017 PLAYground program, one of the four scripts may be placed in consideration for a full, mainstage production in our 2019 season. Gurney Directed by Dave Mackeigan Greg (Kevin Boland) brings home a dog he found in the park—or that has found him—bearing only the name “Sylvia” on her name tag. A street-smart mixture of Lab and Poodle, Sylvia (Jill Kenderes) becomes a major bone of contention between husband and wife. She offers Greg an escape from the frustrations of his job and the unknowns of middle age. To Kate (Heidi Sarvis-Sapp), Sylvia becomes a rival for affection. And Sylvia thinks Kate just doesn’t understand the relationship between man and dog. The marriage is put in serious jeopardy until, after a series of hilarious and touching complications, Greg and Kate learn to compromise, and Sylvia becomes a valued part of their lives.
