Specifically, we are in search of the following: Young Clyde Gender: male Age: can play 11 to 15 Vocal range: A5 to B3 Cumie Barrow A kind woman among those suffering in the Depression. Loyal and selfless. Mother to Clyde and Buck. Gender: female Age: can play 40 to 55 Emma Parker Bonnie’s widowed mother. Fragile, caring, sensitive. Gender: female Age: can play 40 to 55 Henry Barrow A hard-working man, struggling to survive. Humble and quiet. Father of Clyde and Buck. Gender: male Age: can play 45 to 55 Cumie and Emma will not sing other than in the ensemble. They should be VERY strong actors. Rehearsals will be Sub-Thurs evenings beginning after Labor Day. With the aid of the goddess Athena, we follow Odysseus through his encounters with Circe, Poseidon, Calypso, the Sirens and others. DEAP is a process-centered and technique-based program for serious young actors, now in its 8th year at Dobama Theatre.DEAP students work with faculty with both degrees from respected performing arts programs and extensive professional experience. These instructors specialize in the coursework they teach and have the singular focus of broadening each student’s understanding of the art of acting. In recent years we’ve had faculty from Case Western Reserve University, Baldwin Wallace, and Cleveland Play House MFA program.Productions are performed in black box style, so that by stripping away elaborate sets and costumes, students and audience members are left to focus on the actors on the stage.Combined with the work done in class, and the discoveries made through exercises in their coursework, these performances contain exciting moments of theatre and promote artistic growth for each actor. Productions are centered on ensemble building, character development, storytelling and communication, as well as deeper understanding of text. Each piece is done in the beautiful and intimate Dobama Theatre. DEAP’s production is always based on heightened text and/ or classical repertoire. We do a three year cycle of a Greek Drama, Modern Heightened Text, and a Shakespeare.

LCCC’s Stocker Arts Center Welcomes “Guys with Guitars” Lorain County Community College’s Stocker Arts Center will present “Guys with Guitars,” featuring Doug Wood, Darren Frate and Patrick Woods, as part of the revamped Studio Sessions series at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, August 25 and 26, in the Cirigliano Studio Theatre. The Studio Sessions series was previously called the Studio Theatre Cabaret series and this season includes a focus on professional musicians from the region. It is still being held in the intimate Cirigliano Studio Theatre. “Guys with Guitars” includes three regionally accomplished solo musicians. Their show features a mix of each musician performing solo pieces, along with collaborations of original and recognizable cover tunes from artists like Simon and Garfunkel, the Beatles, and several more. CPH Theatre Academy begins September 5th and there is still room in two Adult Class offerings: ADULT COURSES Step Right Up! Adult Acting 90-minute session once a week This class will cover the basics of acting technique and will provide a solid foundation for adults interested in pursuing the craft of acting. The class will give actors an opportunity to learn through a variety of exercises, games, improvisations and scene-work. Actors will participate in a showcase for friends and family. The Actor's Gym Acting for Professional Artists 90-minute session once a week This offering is geared toward working professional actors and provides an opportunity an opportunity to "work-out" their acting skills for a nominal fee in a wide variety of disciplines, including monologue/audition work, scene-study, voice and speech and classical text. In addition, class members will be eligible to participate in a series of master classes featuring an amazing variety of Cleveland's top artists, including Artistic Director Laura Kepley, members of CPH artistic and education departments, and guest artists from our mainstage productions. Please submit to help us remember and preserve our legacy!
