*Magic and Showmanship Instructions!* Jack Palur, professional magician and director in the Northern Ohio area for the last 45 years, is now taking additional students in performance magic and showmanship. This course is appropriate for all ages, from as young as eight years old, to professionals, (including actors, teachers, and other performers), who want to expand their skills. Classes are scheduled as hour-long sessions, teaching the basics of close-up magic, including the use of every day objects, utility moves to develop dexterity and lessons on building a magic act, as well as showmanship and the fundamentals of magical performance. The curriculum is adjusted for each student's needs. Each participant will learn many slight of hand routines, as well as parlor magic, street magic, comedy magic, mind-reading, the business of getting booked, and other forms of popular prestidigitation. This is a one-on-one instruction course on how to become a magician or a better performer. Mr. Palur has been teaching this mini-course in schools and libraries in the Northern Ohio area for over twenty years! He has taught for Young Audience's "ArtWorks" program in University Circle and the Boy Scouts of America, as well as many individual performers that have gone on to book their own shows! He works with recommended books, study programs, and customizes the class to meet the needs of the participants. Plus, it is a lot of fun! Mr. Palur can adapt to any student's schedule and meet as frequently as requested. Classes are held at his office in Sheffield Lake, where he has a wide selection books, videos and magic tricks to experience. Show Choir Auditions !!!

Steppin' Out Women's Show Choir will begin holding auditions in September. Auditions will be for all voicings and will consist of a song of your choosing as well as a portion of a dance number that will be taught on sight. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings at the Olmsted Community Church in Olmsted Falls. Steppin' Out does a fundraiser every May to benefit a charity in the immediate community. This talented group also performs at assisted living venues, monthly meetings, Christmas parties and community events. Steppin' Out is non profit and our ladies volunteer their time for the love of singing and dancing as well as helping out the community. Apollos Fire: The Cleveland Baroque Orchestra DEVELOPMENT MANAGER Job Description The Development Manager is the key staff member responsible for managing the Annual Fund and special events, and plays an important role in donor relations. He/she reports to the General Manager and also serves as a liaison with some committees of the Board. The DMs important leadership of the Individual Donations area and Special Events allows the General Manager to focus on major gifts and corporate sponsorships. The DM builds personal relationships with AFs donors and Board members, and will be called upon to handle tasks that require discretion and refined interpersonal skills. Maintaining positive relationships and communications with all of the above is essential. The DM also assists the General Manager with logistics at Board and committee meetings. This position is currently ¾-time but could be expanded to full-time in the second year if the DM is highly successful and wishes to be full time. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * DONATIONS: Implement and manage the Annual Fund campaign to achieve the goal of increasing it by 10% over two years; write the first draft of the solicitation letter, and lead the process of revisions along with senior staff and/or the Board president; create and manage timelines for Annual fund mailing campaigns; follow up with all parties involved, including printers and other vendors, to ensure that mailing campaigns stay on schedule; develop, implement and measure targeted campaign results; coordinate Board participation in solicitation and stewardship activities; produce donor acknowledgement letters; track gifts and maintain donor database; prepare and present Annual Fund reports for the Board. * SPONSORSHIPS: Assist the GM to solicit individual or corporate sponsors for each set of concerts; prepare and maintain packets for corporate solicitation; manage corporate perks/trades. * EVENTS & RECEPTIONS: Manage cultivation events and special events, including receptions at concerts; take the lead on all logistics for the Gala, while serving as liaison with the Gala Benefit committee and other volunteer groups; research venue and catering options and costs; create draft budgets for fundraising events; collaborate with the Marketing Manager to produce invitations and other printed Development materials; serve as the GMs partner at receptions - chatting with patrons, making note of names to remember and items requiring follow-up. * BOARD OF DIRECTORS: Attend and participate in most Board meetings (3-4 per year); serve as staff liaison with the Development and Gala committees, including providing agendas, taking notes, and coordinating meeting dates; maintain Board handbooks and assist with other Board meeting materials; provide hospitality/refreshments for Board meetings and occasionally committee meetings; take full responsibility for all logistics at Board meetings, including room set-up and conference-calling set-up; collaborate with the Marketing Manager to write the first draft of the Presidents letter for each concert program book. * GRANTS: Assist with grant proposals in collaboration with senior staff and the Artistic Director; research potential new funders; track deadlines and keep other staff informed of proposal and reporting deadlines; grant writing may become a responsibility of this position once the person has become sufficiently familiar with AF. * CONCERTS: Attend approximately 3/4 of all concerts (at least through intermission) in coordination with the GM, either to support the GM or to meet patrons in the absence of the GM. There are 6-7 sets of concerts per year, with 4-6 performances in each set. Attendance is generally required at 80% of all concerts as well as special events. GENERAL: Coordinate volunteers; assist the GM with phone calls, correspondence, out-of-office errands, etc.; provide general office and box office assistance, including at concerts. Terms: This is a 4/5-time position (4 days/week); some evening hours are required, including working at about ¾ of the AF concerts. A half-day of comp time is provided for each evening concert that is worked. Starting salary: 4/5 of a $38-42k salary, commensurate with experience; health benefits will also be made available, and AF will pay the majority of the premium if individual elects to participate in the plan. Qualifications * A Bachelors degree is required, Masters preferred; * 3-4 years professional experience in arts management and/or nonprofit fundraising; * Demonstrated experience increasing direct-mail driven annual fund donations; * Excellent writing skills; * An outgoing personality, including the ability to engage patrons in conversations; * Proven facility with computers, including Microsoft programs, Excel and database work. Knowledge of QuickBooks is a plus; * Analytical skills with numbers and data; * A high level of professionalism, accuracy and attention to detail; * Strong initiative and the ability to own a project from start to finish; * A passion for the arts; the ability to work as part of a team; * The job involves errands and meetings outside of the office; a car and valid driver's license are required. Bring Roald Dahl’s famous story of Charlie Bucket, Willy Wonka and the Oopa-Loompas to life!* Twinsburg Community Theatre (TCT) announces auditions for Willy Wonka showing January 19th-21st and January 26th-28th! Auditions will be held Saturday, October 21st at Twinsburg Community Center, 10260 Ravenna Road. TCT is seeking talented adults and students in at least 2nd grade for the upcoming performance. Adults from any community are eligible, but students must reside or have a parent who resides in the Twinsburg School District to audition. Please arrive prepared to sing a maximum 2 minutes of an acapella song of your choice. You may sing a song from the upcoming show if you wish but it is not required. TCT is a wholly self-supporting organization and cast members pay small fees to participate. Each cast member pays a $60 fee for the first immediate family member, $55 for the second, $50 for the third, $45 for the fourth, and all others are free. Kaufman and Moss Hart. The musical (with a book by George Furth) was first produced in November of 1981, where it ran for 17 performances. Not very successful eh? It tells of the disintegration of the friendship of successful songwriter Franklin Shepard, his lyricist and best friend Charlie Kringas, and novelist Mary Flynn. The action moves backward through time, from 1976 to 1957. This is one of Stephen Sondheim’s most accessible and difficult scores. It is most certainly about friendship and its importance in the lives of three people. This show has great personal meaning to me. And while the book is problematic; I am confident that our production team and the actors that are cast can overcome this. This is one great play. And the roles; did I mention the roles? Each one of these six folks are wonderful roles with fully realized characterizations and motivations. It will take special actors/singers to breathe life into these people. *Audition Information:* *Auditions will be held on Monday and Tuesday, October 23 and 24 at Lakeland Community College in Building D at 7:15pm. Specific locations will be posted in the building.* *Auditions for the role of Frank Jr. (between the ages of 11 and 14 years of age) will ONLY take place on Monday and Tuesday, October 23 and 24 between the times of 5:45 and 6:45 pm. This is so they will be out by 7:00pm. * *NO APPOINTMENTS ARE NECESSARY.* *Please: **One 32 bar cut in the style of the show. A Sondheim piece is preferred.
