We are auditioning young actors between the ages 10-18 for our upcoming production. Please prepare 32 measures of music in a similar musical style. An accompanist will be provided. Actors should be memorized and need to provide sheet music in the correct key and everyone will be taught a short dance combination. Please plan on staying for 30 minutes. DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMS Center for Arts-Inspired Learning is seeking a visionary, dynamic, and innovative Director of Programs to design and lead arts education programming and create new opportunities for young people through the arts. S/he focuses on the outreach and cultivation of partnerships with artists, the education community, and arts community to maximize the positive impact of CAL programs and services on teaching and learning. S/he strengthens the organization’s leadership role in the field of arts education and works closely with the executive director to realize annual and long-term goals of CAL. The Director of Programs reports to the Executive Director. Job Responsibilities: * Oversee the design, development, implementation, assessment, and evaluation of all CAL programs and special projects. * Develop new program initiatives and collaborations to meet community needs. * Cultivate, initiate, and respond to arts education opportunities with schools, districts, and other non-profit and community organizations. * Oversee, professionally develop, and evaluate department staff of eight; hire consultants as needed. * Ensure CAL artist roster reflects the organizational goals for high quality, diversity, and community needs. * Lead efforts for research and evaluation. * Create and track budgets to meet financial goals. * Collaborate with Marketing Manager in the creation and maintenance of promotional materials such as the CAL Resource Guide, newsletter articles, website content, and program-related brochures. * Represent CAL at meetings, conferences, and marketing events. * Ensure the compilation of programs statistics and financial data on all programs and use information in decision making. * Initiate projects and work with development to seek funds. Oversee final programming reports to funders. * Promote support and visibility for CAL through active participation in the local arts education community. * Work with the Board of Directors, Board Committees, and other advisory entities to ensure that education goals are met. * Create and implement policies and procedures for education department and roster artists. * Other duties as assigned. Confucius Institute Seeks Emcee Volunteers for our 10th Annual Teacher Appreciation Day

Are you someone who enjoys foreign cultures? Do you revel at the opportunity to become involved with new, and exciting cultural experiences? The Confucius Institute at Cleveland State University is seeking one talented, energetic person with Emcee skills, and experience for our 10th Annual Teacher Appreciation Day. The Confucius Institute is an organization cosponsored by The Cleveland State University, and the Chinese government that promotes Chinese language and culture in the city. Our Teacher Appreciation Day event is one of the biggest events we hold throughout the year. Our goal is to recognize, and honor local teachers who work to promote Chinese language, culture, and education in the city of Cleveland. This event is usually attended by hundreds of people, is covered by local news media outlets, and has involvement from the offices of both Mayor Frank Jackson, and Congresswoman Maria Fudge. The Confucius Institute is seeking one, highly energetic, entertaining, and experienced person to serve as an Emcee for the ceremony that is held, as part of the Teacher Appreciation Day event. This would be an unpaid opportunity, however, the Confucius Institute will provide our talented volunteer with both lunch, and a certificate of participation. The date of the event is Thursday, September 28th, from 10:00am- 1:30pm. Information in regards to the educators being honored on the day will be provided that we ask our emcee become familiar with; but we are looking for a candidate who would be comfortable adding their own, family friendly type of flavor to the presentation. We would also ask for our emcee to come in to our offices prior to the event, in order to meet with Zijie Li, the project coordinator for the Confucius Institute, in order to discuss the events of the day, and any further details in regards to expectations about the emcee. Conceived and originally directed by John Michael Tebelak (from Berea, Ohio and a Clague Playhouse Alum), with music and new lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, *Godspell *is one of the biggest off-Broadway and Broadway successes of all time. Based on the Gospel According to St. Matthew, and featuring a sparkling score by Schwartz, *Godspell* boasts a string of well-loved songs, led by the international hit, “Day By Day.” As the cast performs “Prepare Ye The Way Of The Lord,” “Learn Your Lessons Well,” “All For The Best,” “All Good Gifts,” “Turn Back, O Man” and “By My Side,” the parables of Jesus Christ come humanly and hearteningly to life. Drawing from various theatrical traditions, such as clowning, pantomime, charades, acrobatics and vaudeville, *Godspell* is a groundbreaking and unique theatrical experience, with a message of kindness, tolerance and love. Charming, engaging, High energy, funny, gentle but with strength. He is the sort of person others instinctively follow. (Tenor - G# top note / Save The People) *John the Baptist/Judas:* has attributes of both Biblical figures: He is both Jesus’ lieutenant and most ardent disciple and the doubter who begins to question and rebel. Like Jesus, he is also charismatic, but in more of an overt revolutionary way. He is the most “serious” and intellectual of the group, though as with all the actors, he must still possess a good sense of physical comedy. (Baritone Eb top note / Prepare Ye) *Jeffrey:* very high energy, impish and playful. (Tenor-falsetto high D above staff / We Beseech Thee) *Lamar:* not necessarily the brightest in the bunch. There is a great sweetness and innocence about him. (Tenor-high A / All Good Gifts) *Herb:* the comedian, the class clown. The guy who can do a hundred voices and imitations. (Baritone, should have an E for harmonies / Light of the World) *Robin:* open and sweet, could be a bit of a tomboy. She is the first of the group to commit to following Jesus. (Alto or Mezzo / Day By Day) *Joanne:* the confident one, the show-off. The first to volunteer, sometimes jumps in before she really understands what’s going on. (Soprano-high A / Bless the Lord) *Peggy:* the shy one. Sometimes a little slow to get things, but when she does, she commits all the way. She has an “Earth Mother” kind of warmth to her. (Alto / By My Side) *Sonia:* sassy and slightly cynical, the most urban of the group. Also the “sexy”one, but her sexiness contains a large element of put-on, in the manner of Mae West or Madonna (who in fact once played the role). (Alto-low D / Turn Back O Man) *Gilmer:* the female equivalent of the class clown. Goofy and a cut-up. This is the female role that sings least, and therefore, should be cast with a strong comedienne. Nutcracker audition this Saturday

The City Ballet of Cleveland is holding its annual “Uniquely Cleveland Nutcracker” audition on Saturday September 16th from 2:30pm-5:00pm.� The audition is open to all area ballet dancers ages 8 and older, and these young dancers will be dancing side by side with professional ballet dancers including from the Verb Ballets!� Dancers auditioning for pointe roles, including Act I Snow and Act II Waltz of the Flowers, should wear their pointe shoes to audition. Potential dancers do not need to be students at Cleveland City Dance; however, students must be enrolled in class at their current studio or Cleveland City Dance during the during the rehearsal process. The Company Artistic and Executive Director, Courtney J.
