What exactly is The Manhattan Project - Cleveland Lab? The Manhattan Project is a low-stakes, nonthreatening place for actors and playwrights to meet and work together. Based on the Theatre Lab model taught at the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama and inspired by The Brooklyn Generator in New York, The Manhattan Project wants to introduce Cleveland actors and playwrights to each other by organizing a bi-monthly production of brand new 10-minute plays. Participating artists will meet early in the month and will be broken into teams, each with one playwright. The playwright will then be given a writing prompt to write a new 10-minute play based on the prompt and including all the team's actors. The rest of the evening the team members will get to know each other and get a feel for each other's skills and voices. The teams will reconvene later in the month to perform these plays for each other. These 10-minute plays are not an end in themselves. Through these small collaborations we hope to build relationships between the two most vulnerable artists in theatre; the actors who put themselves on stage and the playwrights who pour themselves onto the page. Perhaps these 10-minute plays will grow into longer works or maybe these collaborations will become partnerships on larger projects. Stocker Arts Center Presents SpYder Stompers and Sugar Pie Lorain County Community College's Stocker Arts Center will present SpYder Stompers and Sugar Pie at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, September 8 and 9 in the Cirigliano Studio Theatre. SpYder Stompers and Sugar Pie create a mix of high-energy blues, country and ragtime tunes. Guests will enjoy the foot stompin' music for all occasions. The group's string band quartet members are vocalists and multi-instrumentalists covering music genres that are classic covers from the early part of the 20th century. The band includes Kevin T. Richards (guitar, mandolin, fiddle), Jack DiAlesandro (guitar, harmonica, banjo), Sheela Das (ukulele, guitar, flute, penny whistle, washboard) and Raymond Deforest (acoustic bass). AUDITION: 2 Roles open for Frankenstein 1930

East Cleveland Theater (ECT) is hosting auditions for "Frankenstein 1930" , written by Fred Carmichael. We are currently short one young girl, and a father figure. *Synopsis:* An adaptation of the classic novel by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley. Although this adaptation was published in 1996, the play is set in the 1930s. *The Roles:* Both roles that are open only appear in Act II, near the end of the show. They are both speaking roles. We are looking for an *actual* father/daughter or uncle/niece to fill these roles ... or at the very least, for the two actors to know each other prior to rehearsals. The father figure must be able to carry the young girl. This would be a great bonding time for a *actual *father/daughter or *an actual* uncle/niece ... and the roles would be great for a first timers on stage ... or just a quick addition to one's resume. Fall Theatre Arts Class registration is now open! For information and registration: http://talespinn erchildrenstheatre.org/education/ DATES: September 16th - November 11th (No classes Oct. 14) Pre-school (ages 3-5) Saturdays 10am-11am Kids (ages 6-10) and Early Teens (ages 11-14) Saturdays 10am-noon TCT offers three in-house Youth Theatre Arts courses per year. They take place on location at TCT—a 188 seat, ADA compliant theatre located on the eastern edge of the Detroit-Shoreway area of Cleveland's near west side. Fall and Spring classes are held on Saturdays for eight-week sessions and are broken down in appropriate age groups. Through puppets, music, movement, improvisation, story-telling and acting, students develop communication skills, teamwork, confidence, and creative expression. Each session culminates with a student-created presentation for family and friends that gives kids a taste of what goes into producing and performing a show.
