Do you want to be part of a play, but don't want to memorize lines? Are you an aspiring actor, but don't know where to start? Are you a seasoned actor and are looking for a different kind of project to work on? Do you like the drama genre? Then come audition for us! Olde Towne Hall Theatre in North Ridgeville, Ohio is holding auditions for a staged reading (no set or costumes) for Henrik Ibsen's A DOLL'S HOUSE. Sharon Godsey is the producer. Director Dena M. Warmuth is looking to cast strong vocal actors for an ensemble of 4 adult males and 4 adult females, who can portray the age range of 30 - 60 years old. Some roles may be doubled. Auditionees must come with a 1-2 minute dramatic monologue, and be prepared to read from the script. Auditions are at the theatre (36119 Center Ridge Rd,; North Ridgeville, Ohio; 44039) on: Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. Monday, April 23, 2018 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm We are a community theatre. There are no AEA contracts available. There is no compensation for actors at Olde Towne Hall Theatre. Both vulnerable and a willing participant in her evolution. Melchior A smart, headstrong boy who refuses to bow down to society's rules. An atheist and radical student. Struggles with his intense feelings for Wendla and his awakening sexual urges. Moritz Melchior's intense and nervous best friend. He has an overwhelming confusion relating to sexual feelings, which seems comedic at first, but quickly develops into a serious issue for him. The system has failed him. Highly sensitive and aware of his inability to fit into the system. Feels like a failure. One of the childhood four: Wendla, Melchior, Moritz and Ilse. Ilse A misguided young girl who runs away from an abusive home to live in an artists' colony. Kind and resilient while also broken and stuck in a cycle of abuse. There is a strong emotional connection between Ilse and Moritz; perhaps in another life they could have been happy together. Martha A schoolgirl who faces constant physical abuse from her father. She harbors a secret crush towards Moritz. Hanschen A rather narcissistic schoolmate of Melchior's. He is comfortable with his own sexuality and uses his looks and intelligence to captivate Ernst. Like Melchior, he also appears to be very intelligent, but uses his knowledge in favor of the system. Ernst A schoolmate of Melchior's. Naive and easily manipulated, which allows him to fall in love with Hanschen. Thea A confrontational school girl and Wendla's best friend. Outwardly believes the adults but secretly questions the blind faith demanded of her. Does not want to rock the boat. Anna A kind school girl and Martha's best friend. She is more aware of injustice than the other girls. Georg A clumsy schoolmate of Melchoir's. He is overcome with his feelings for his piano teacher. Otto A classmate of Melchior's. I have hosted my own recitals in the past, but think working together could be much more beneficial for everyone. This is a great opportunity to bring teachers together who teach independently in their homes, in their own studios, in their students' homes or at a music store/ facility that does not provide recitals. I teach Voice and Piano lessons and would especially love to work with teachers of other instruments so that we could have a nice variety of students and instruments featured at the recital. In honor of the publication of Action Comic #1 on April 18, 1938 which saw the first appearance of Superman, the Capitol Theatre (1390 W. 65th St., Cleveland) is partnering with the Siegel and Shuster Society for a special screening of SUPERMAN II: THE RICHARD DONNER CUT. SUPERMAN II: THE RICHARD DONNER CUT will screen in the historic main auditorium of the Capitol Theatre on Wednesday, April 18th at 7:30 PM to celebrate Superman’s 80th birthday. Following the screening, there will be a discussion hosted by Mike Olszewski from the Siegel and Shuster Society. As a Superman birthday present to those in attendance, a special edition print by artist Gary Dumm will be handed out while supplies last. SUPERMAN II: THE RICHARD DONNER CUT presents the film as its director originally conceived and intended. This reedited rendering of the legendary superhero film closely follows the original script and restores the lost footage originally shot by Donner in 1977 before he was taken off the project. Among the fascinating new elements in the director's cut are the original opening and ending, alternate takes and camera angles and deleted scenes featuring Marlon Brando. In the blockbuster sequel, Christopher Reeve, Gene Hackman, and Margot Kidder return as Superman confronts three super criminals with abilities equal to his. The Kryptonian threesome arrives just as Superman is preparing to exchange his powers for a romantic relationship with Lois Lane. About the Siegel and Shuster Society: In 2007, Mike Sangiacomo wrote a full-page article in the Plain Dealer asking why the city where Superman was created doesn't celebrate his creators. That article brought together a group of business leaders, media people, academics and fans to form the non-profit Siegel and Shuster Society. The group 's mission to promote the legacy of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster has resulted in a series of important projects including: - Restoration of Jerry Siegel's boyhood home and commemoration of the site in Cleveland's Glenville neighborhood where Joe Shuster did the first sketches of Superman. - A permanent display at Hopkins Airport welcoming travelers to the city where Supeman was created, the display is seen by 80% of Hopkins foot traffic., - Special Ohio license plates generating annual funds for Siegel and Shuster Society charitable causes. - The Society's Mike Olszewski also helped curate the recent "Superman: From Cleveland to Krypton" exhibit that drew record crowds to the Cleveland Public Library's main branch. The Society also arranged the donation of the massive Mike Curtis collection of Superman memorabilia to the library, more than 15-thousand pieces, and is actively pursuing additional pieces for the permanent collection. Join two of Northeast Ohio's leading actors, Jeffrey Grover (Take Shelter, Compliance, Miles Ahead) and Peter Lawson Jones (Detroit 1-8-7, Alex Cross, White Boy Rick), on April 14th at Shore Cultural Centre as they share, through personal experiences, the tricks and trades of working in theatre, film and television throughout the country while maintaining your home base in Cleveland or any city in the region; from the do’s and don’ts of working with agents and casting directors to joining Actors Equity and Screen Actors Guild, this workshop will offer practical and anecdotal information for both the novice and experienced actor. Actor/Writer/Producer Jeffrey Grover is a member of Actors’ Equity and SAG-AFTRA. Grover has appeared in numerous films including Miles Ahead, Compliance, Take Shelter, I Am Wrath, My Blind Brother and The Kings of Summer. He will soon be seen in 2018 releases of I Feel Pretty, Galveston, Madtown and Roebling’s Bridge. His recent Cleveland theatrical credits include Angels in America, All The Way, God of Carnage, Death and the Maiden and Annapurna. In New York, his most recent credits include Kiss Me Kate, Botanic Garden, Leah The Forsaken and Defamation. Jeff is partners with Andrew Gorell and Steve Hacker in g2h films. They are in pre-production for their fourth film, "You Go First," which shoots this June. Actor/playwright Peter Lawson Jones, a Harvard grad, is a member of both Actors’ Equity and SAG-AFTRA. He has appeared in over twenty films (White Boy Rick, Alex Cross, Starve), on network television (ABC’s Detroit 1-8-7) and on stages throughout Northeast Ohio and in New York. He is co-executive producer of the documentary Fatherhood 101. Peter received the 2016 Indie Gathering International Film Festival Best Ohio Supporting Actor and the 2012 African American Playwrights Exchange Artist of the Year awards. Peter can currently be seen Br'er Cotton at Cleveland Public Theatre and in the premiere screening of Assassin's Code at the 42nd Cleveland International Film Festival April 12th & 14th. Terrence Spivey, who coordinated and will be moderating the event, is a freelance director and Founding Director of Powerful Long Ladder in residence at Holy Trinity Cultural Center where he directed James Baldwin's The Amen Corner. He later directed Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill at Weathervane Playhouse to critical acclaim and revived it at Holy Trinity in March. Spivey was artistic director of Karamu House for over twelve years gaining national recognition, winning numerous awards and programming over seventy productions for the historical institution. Since leaving Karamu House in 2016, Spivey has directed thought provoking productions such Robert O' Hara's Bootycandy, voted one of the Plain Dealer's Top 10 2016 plays, Brandon Jacob- Jenkins Neighbors and the nationally acclaimed Objectively/Reasonable: The Community Response to the Shooting of Tamir Rice, 12/22/14.
