[ REGISTER NOW ]( https://www.showclix.com/event/intimacy-workshop ) CLASS DESCRIPTION In this workshop, participants learn specific techniques for accessing their vulnerability in a dramatic context, resulting in powerful chemistry between characters without compromising personal boundaries. Focus is on subtle and specific details in choreography, and on acting exercises to keep partners connected physically and emotionally. It is an exploration of intimacy within a dramatic context for the purpose of telling the story of the scene. This class also touches on how to approach preparing for scenes of intimacy in rehearsal, consent, boundaries, your rights, and psychological safety. This is not just kissing or sex scenes. The principles can include the intimacy between parents and children, between dear friends, and can also apply to scenes of sexual violence. Touching (handshakes, handholding, hugging) through guided contact improv is part of the course. Kissing is not required. While the goal is to explore emotional and physical intimacy, the core concept of this work is Safety, for the facilitation of safe exploration. All touching is consensual, and participants are always invited to sit out and watch, should they feel uncomfortable or triggered. While this introductory workshop is geared towards a performer's perspective, participants are welcome from all theatrical disciplines to participate and learn more about intimacy for the stage. GOALS To train the students in a working knowledge of the basic principles of Intimacy for the Stage. Focusing on The Pillars of Intimacy, students will learn how to advocate for their own safety when an Intimacy Director is not present, collaborate with an Intimacy Director when one is present, and explore specificity within moments of Intimacy. FORMAT Each class will follow the structure: introduction to concept, practice, discussion. TOPICS INCLUDED Instant Chemistry: simple acting exercises to facilitate mutual trust and to create chemistry with any scene partner Consent: physical work and emotional preparation for more effective scenes of intimacy The Pillars: guidelines for approaching scenes of Intimacy, including script work, communication of personal boundaries, consent, and other professional etiquette practices Playing with Specificity: techniques and ideas to begin exploring your own methods of maintaining your own psychological health, assuring your own resilience and the quality of your craft WHAT IS IDI? Intimacy Directors International (IDI) is a not for profit organization comprised of artists from around the world who are trained to choreograph and direct scenes of an intimate nature for the stage and screen. URGENT Call for Costume/makeup prosthetic designers

Due to my recent diagnosis of congestive heart failure I am supposed to wear an external defibrillator Life Vest. It's current design is like a backwards bra with a narrow belt bottom to space the receiving electrodes. The back panel with the defib pads is fine. Think of a heavy outer fabric to stabilize the belt and help the electrodes maintain their contact with the skin. Perhaps corset bones to hold the belt straighter. The Zoll rep is on her way over to run me through the training again but I don't think that's my problem. It's a design flaw - half of the flaw is my body shape and half of the flaw is the way the material will wear on my body. Elastics would most likely just roll like it does now. Perhaps spirit gum or latex adhesive used for makeup prosthetics could help me? Perhaps some sort of corset bone? Some sort of suspender system to hold it down? They have engineers working on the product but their focus is the electrical operation. This might seem merely cosmetic but it absolutely affects the functionality of the product. I think someone can come up with a design solution, possible patent it and then sell it to them for a profit and end up saving lives in the long run, maybe even mine! It's called the Zoll Life Vest. Melodrama Villain Needed!

Have you ever wanted to play the villain in a campy melodrama where the villain loses in the end in a very comical way? Thought so. Director John Hnat is looking for a “mature” actor to play the male lead, Artie Fischel, in “Milly Monka and the Salmon Cannery...or...There’s Something Fishy Going On” to be put on by the Playreaders of the Rocky River Senior Center. The play is a one-act send up of the old melodramas; in other words, a fun romp of a show, Rehearsals are held 10 am to noon Tuesdays and Thursdays in October. Rehearsals will expand to three mornings in Novemeber, culminating in three performances (two matinees and one evening) on Thursday, November 21 and Friday November 22.
