If you put in the work up top, you won’t find yourself struggling to invent things later on. In this four hour longform improv intensive, students will focus on: -Organic initiations - finding the first unusual/funny thing in a scene and building upon it with your scene partner -Playing the game of the scene - finding and heightening patterns from the first unusual/funny thing -Pulling information from monologues -Constructing solid premise based initiations based on information from monologues ...plus focused coaching and feedback from your instructor. Students should have a basic understanding or education/experience with longform improv. Space for this intensive is very limited; register early to guarantee seating. The workshop will be from 1-5 pm with a 12 person cap. ONLY 6 SPOTS LEFT! Cuyahoga Community College is in need of costume designers for the following productions this spring: Gem of the Ocean by August Wilson @ Tri-C Eastern Campus (Directed by Jimmie Woody) - Rehearsals begin the week of Feb. 4th - Tech begins March 22nd - There are 4 performances March 26th - 28th - Pay is a stipend of $1,500 She Kills Monsters by Qui Nguyen @ Tri-C Western Campus (Directed by Fred Gloor) - Rehearsals begin the week of March 2nd - Tech begins April 18th - There are 5 performances April 22nd - 26th - Pay is a stipend of $1,500 Both are designer positions where if the designer could help build/pull items that would be ideal, however, Tri-C does have staff capable of assisting with the necessary work load. It is various poems and monologues, combined with music and dance that comment on living with HIV and the quest for love. The tradition of the choreopoem as a theatrical vehicle to explore the conditions of black life goes back to at least Ntozake Shange’s For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When The Rainbow Is Enuf. The genre remains popular, specifically in African-American theatre, largely because it allows multiple narratives to tell a collective, unifying story.
