LCCC Hosts Civic Concert Band Lorain County Community College's Civic Concert Band will hold a concert featuring a collaboration with Cuyahoga Community College's Western Campus Band performing the world premiere of "The Enchanted Forest" by Jim Berlyoung at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 3 at the Stocker Arts Center in the Hoke Theatre. The concert is directed by Mark Wainwright. Admission is free. Theatre on the Spectrum presents Clowning Around!

Theatre on the Spectrum, NE Ohio’s only day theatre company for adults with disabilities, presents “Clowning Around,” an hour’s worth of original clown comedy acts. The performances will be held at the Blue Box Studio, 1501 S Hawkins Ave, Akron OH 44320 — in the New Season plaza. Company members were inspired by working with Gale McNeely, a traveling clown and commedia teacher from California, who led a workshop with the troupe this past fall. Clowning involves learning many physical skills. The challenge for the company was finding ways to include all abilities in the comedy. Through collaboration and creative thinking, the actors have devised a montage of clown acts that include tributes to traditional circus clowns, William Shakespeare, the Kinks, and Samuel Beckett. This production is co-directed by Wendy Duke and Ruben Ryan. Performance dates are: March 18, 20 & 21 at noon; March 22 at 7 pm March 25, 27, 28 at 1 pm; March 29 at 7 pm A ticket donation of $3 is suggested. The Movement Project Pre-Professional Summer Intensive Audition in Canton The Movement Project will be hosting an audition at Inspire Performing Arts Center in Canton February 24th for dancers aged 12-18 to take part in this year’s summer intensive July 29th-August 3rd. This one week intensive is geared for serious-minded dancers interested in furthering themselves as creative artists and who wish to deepen and grow their technical and performance knowledge. This intensive provides a rigorous daily schedule in professional training, creative practice and rehearsals taught by TMP artistic directors, company members, as well as notable guest artists in the dance community. The program will focus on modern dance technique, contemporary, ballet, improvisation, composition, injury prevention and somatic practices. In addition to movement courses, the program includes courses designed to prepare young artists for a career in dance such as, resume building, dance on film and marketing. As part of our marketing course, each artist will receive dance action shots for their portfolio. AUDITION CALL FOR LOCAL CLEVELAND DANCERS ON MARCH 15TH The Movement Project is hosting an open audition with Pam Tanowitz. Pam will be auditioning dancers for her upcoming project Recital #1 (five small dances for Cleveland). The Show will occupy historic Pilgrim Congregational Church March 22nd at 7pm and 9pm, and will be influenced by the unique space and individual dancers. Dancers from New York City-based Pam Tanowitz Dance will perform alongside performers from Cleveland’s The Movement Project and those local dancers selected from the audition. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: Advanced dancers, with performance experience. Must commit to all the rehearsal times. The work will be all set the week leading up the the performance, as a site specific project. The Millennial Theatre Company (MTC) with Sunrise Entertainment are holding auditions for Chicago the Musical. Auditions will be held at The Stage Door Theatre Arts and Dance Academy located at 23 W McKinley Way, Poland, Ohio 44514. Auditions will be held March 2nd and 3rd from 10am until 2pm. There will also be auditions on March 4th from 6-9 PM. The production will be performed May 29th-31st at the DeYor Performing Arts Center in downtown Youngstown. The show will be directed by Joe Asente with music direction by Savannah Florkowski and choreography by Makayla McIntosh. Auditioners should prepare roughly 60 seconds of music in the style of the show, showing off their range. Please bring sheet music, preferably with chords, as an accompanist will be provided. Please also come prepared to learn a small dance combination. Callbacks will be scheduled after the auditions, along with a dance/movement callback, if needed. Looking for strong singers and dancers! Dancers who do not consider themselves to be strong singers are still encouraged to attend, as dance-only roles will be given. All roles are open for those 16 years or older.
