MTC to Hold Auditions for Legally Blonde the Musical! The Millennial Theatre Company will be holding auditions for their Summer 2019 Musical, Legally Blonde. Poland, Ohio- The Millennial Theatre Company (MTC) is holding auditions for their Summer 2019 Musical, Legally Blonde. Auditions will be held at the Stage Door Performing Arts Center in Poland, OH (23 w. McKinley Way, Poland, Ohio 44514), Friday, April 26 from 6-9pm, Saturday, April 27 from 10am-2pm, and Sunday, April 28 from 10am-2pm. Auditioners should prepare 30-60 seconds of a song in the style of the show, (contemporary musicals). Please bring sheet music, if possible, as an accompanist will be provided. A script will also be provided for a cold reading. All roles are open with the hopes of nontraditional casting. Ages 16-older adults needed for this large musical. MTC will perform the production July 26-28 and August 2-4 at the The Crestview Performing Arts Center. The show will be directed by Joe Asente and music directed by Savannah Florkowski. Rehearsals will take place M-Th 6-9pm beginning in June. Western Reserve Playhouse announces third show of 2019 Season “Emma” by Jane Austen Adapted by Michael Bloom Directed by Keith Stevens Synopsis: One of Jane Austen's greatest novels, Emma is presented as a highly theatrical production. Pledging never to marry, the mischievous Emma Woodhouse is nevertheless the "matchmaker of Highbury." Her newest project, Harriet Smith, has already received a proposal, but Emma insists she marry the eligible vicar Mr. Elton, while, an older family friend, Mr. Knightly, warns her to give up matchmaking. When Emma discovers Mr. Elton is more interested in her, she is forced to fend him off and find another suitor for Harriet. Highbury welcomes two new guests, a mysterious Jane Fairfax and the charming Frank Churchill, and Emma finds herself falling just a little in love with him. Ultimately, she decides that Frank is better suited to Harriet, but when she suggests the match, Emma is astonished to discover that Harriet has fallen for Mr. Knightly. A horrified Emma suddenly realizes she has always been in love with Mr. Knightley. In the end, all is set right as Frank reveals his secret engagement to Jane, Harriet receives a second offer from her first beau, and Mr. Knightley proposes to the deliriously happy Emma. The world's largest timed film competition just got even hotter as the 48 Hour Film Project presents our FREE community timed filmmaking competition, 48HFP: Xtinguish! Make a short film in just 48 hours using a genre, character, prop, and line of dialogue that aren't revealed until Kickoff. And in this version, each film must be shot in, on, around, or somehow feature the Cuyahoga River. What better way to prepare for the summer 48HFP event than to actually make a film in 48 hours? That's why we've partnered with West Creek Conservancy's Xtinguish Celebration on this FREE community filmmaking competition-- 48HFP: Xtinguish! The *Xtinguish Celebration <https://xtinguishcelebration.com/>* is a series of events to help commemorate the ecological progress made since the infamous 1969 Cuyahoga River Fire. The incorporation of this project expands the cultural immersion of conversations around the Cuyahoga River into the film community. Will your voice be heard? Had a brief affair with John Proctor. A witch hunt hysteria stems from her actions. Mary Warren (late teens – early 20’s) The Proctor’s unassuming house servant. Often bullied by the other girls in the community. Mercy Lewis (late teens – early 20’s) Friend of Abigail who participates in the witchcraft accusations. Susanna Walcott (late teens – early 20’s) Friend of Abigail who participates in the witchcraft accusations. Ann Putnam (late 20’s - 40’s) Thomas’s neurotic wife. Rebecca Nurse (60’s-70s) Charitable Salem resident who is accused of witchcraft. Tituba (African-American, 30’s – 40’s) Barbados slave of the Rev. Parris. She is the first accused of witchcraft. Sarah Good (50’s-60’s) Homeless woman accused of witchcraft. Male Roles John Proctor (30’s - 40’s) Salem farmer forced to defend his wife and then himself against witchcraft charges. Had a brief affair with Abigail Williams. Rev. Samuel Parris (40’s - 50’s) Salem's current minister. Thomas Putnam (30’s - 40’s) A wealthy Salem landowner whose child is also displaying symptoms of being bewitched. Rev. John Hale (30’s - 40’s) A well-educated and fair-minded reverend with a vast knowledge of the occult. Francis Nurse (60’s-70’s) Rebecca’s husband who advocates his wife’s innocence. John Danforth (50’s – 60’s) The Deputy Governor and presiding judge over the witchcraft trials. John Hathorne (40’s-60’s) Associate judge presiding over the witchcraft trials. Giles Corey (50’s-60’s) Innocent citizen arrested after he attempts to defend his wife. Ezekiel Cheever (30’s - 40’s) The upright clerk of the courts in Salem. CPT announces auditions for youth summer program: CLEVELAND ACT NOW CLEVELAND ACT NOW - Summer Arts Program Cleveland Act Now is an intensive summer arts program for young artists that is fun and chal-lenging. Youth will learn acting fundamentals, storytelling methods, and ensemble play crea-tion. Under the dedicated guidance of CPT Teaching Artists, children learn how to create and per-form their own theatrical works. Enrollment is by audition. Youth who have successfully partici-pated in Cleveland Public Theatre's Brick City Theatre program are guaranteed placement in the program upon successful audition. All youth must participate in an audition to be eligible for the program. Enrollment is capped at 20 participants per session. This program is offered at NO COST thanks to the support of the Cleveland Foundation and other generous supporters.
