Director William Roudesbush (Beck Center’s “*Glengarry Glen Ross*”) is offering a 6 week course based on his acclaimed book “*Acting By Mistake*”. This 2 hour weekly class will run Monday evenings from 6:30PM to 8:30PM at Beck Center starting Monday August 5th and concluding Monday Sept. 9th. {Note: In lieu of Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 2nd, class will be Tuesday, Sept. 3rd from 6:30PM to 8:30PM} Tuition is $300 for the session. This same class is offered in NYC by instructor Roudebush for $600, but Beck Center is pleased to bring it to NE Ohio at a 50% discount. Class size is limited to 9 students so there will be a great deal of hands-on class time. Ideally students will be 18 or over. The class is filled with ideas that embrace exactly what you need to do when you can’t remember your lines, become intimidated by other actors, hear yourself talking while you audition or perform, have difficulty looking another actor directly in the eye, can only say a line on way or you just lack confidence in your own skills. Veronica longs to be cool like the clique of it-girls that runs Westerberg: the unaffected, unattainable Heathers. Unfortunately, in addition to awesome levels of popularity, the Heathers are also cruel, choosing to mock and bully their kingdom into submission. When Veronica uses her skills as a forger to get the Heathers out of detention, she impresses their leader Heather Chandler— so much so that they agree to let her into their exclusive club. At first, Veronica is thrilled—until she finds out that being one of the Heathers means bullying the same kids she used to call friends. Meanwhile, Veronica finds herself attracted to a mysterious newcomer at school named Jason Dean (JD). The brain children of Liz Conway, Michael Seevers Jr., and Beth Wood, The Sisters are an unapologetically raunchy, lounge-singing duo. About The Process… This rehearsal process will be conventional in nature and based in character development, song, and basic dance. There may be some scene creation during the rehearsal process. Actors will be expected to make strong proposals, be generous, and meet deadlines given. Rehearsals will begin on or around October 14th. Rehearsals are 5-6 times a week, with evening weekday rehearsals and some daytime weekend rehearsals. Performances begin with a preview on November 21st and opening on November 22nd. The production runs November 21 – December 21, Thurs/Fri/Sat at 7:30pm in the Gordon Square Theatre. Jeff Rapsis accompanies THE CROWD USA, 1928, King Vidor New England's busiest silent film accompanist (and one of the country's very best), Jeff Rapsis, returns to the Cinematheque to play keyboard for one of the pinnacles of the American silent screen (never before shown at the Cinematheque)! King Vidor's masterpiece chronicles the life of an ambitious young man who moves to New York City to set the world on fire, only to find himself slowly becoming one of the metropolis's faceless multitude. In 1989, this moving and revered work became one of the first 25 "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" films selected for the Library of Congress's National Film Registry. Preceded at 7:00 by the Cleveland premiere of a mesmerizing new 12-min. silent film (with music track) by Bruce Checefsky, one of the region's foremost filmmakers. Checefsky's Doctor Hypnison, or the Technique of Living was inspired by a 1923 scenario written by Serbian poet and Surrealist Salomon Monny de Boully (1904-1968). He is a stern, strict, solemn man with a booming voice who runs the town with an iron fist. However he also has a tender side and is struggling with the loss of his son. (Singing is more traditional musical theater than other characters). *Vi Moore *(Mezzo-Soprano, 35-45) The strong-willed preacher's wife who holds the moral fiber of Beaumont in her upright stance. She feels she is losing her husband and daughter and doesn't know what to do. She ultimately is responsible for holding her family together after its terrible loss. *Ariel Moore *(Belt, Dance, 16 - 18) She is the preacher's daughter. At first glimpse it would appear that she is the perfect girl; beautiful, perky, energetic. But look closer and she is her father's worst nightmare. She is energetic, strong willed, sharp tongued, and aware of her sensuality. *Rusty *(Comedic, Dance, 16 - 18) Ariel's friend. A bit of a ditz but knows everything about everybody. *Urleen *(Belt, Comedic, Dance, 16 - 18) Ariel's friend. The smart one of the group. *Wendy Jo* (Belt, Comedic, Dance, 16 - 18) Ariel's friend. Doesn't say much but sure knows a lot about Beaumont and the town rules. *Chuck Cranston* (Rock Tenor, Dance, 16 - 20) * A motorcycle riding, foul mouthed, leather wearing, trailer park product who takes one look at Ren and realizesthat there's only room for one bad boy in this town. He is dating the one girl that Ren obviously has a crush on, Ariel. *Willard Hewitt *(Tenor, Comedic, Dance, 16 - 18) A simple country bumpkin with a warm heart and a big crush. PIERREPONT FINCH - Window cleaner. (Male - Age 20-35, tenor) Finch is young and driven to succeed in the business world. He exhibits a great amount of charm and pluck but is never completely trustworthy. He will vacillate between uncertainty and over-confidence. J.B. BIGGLEY - President of the Worldwide Wicket Company. (Male - Age 45-60, baritone) Biggley is a self-important blowhard. He is the head of the company and makes sure everyone knows it. However, he is completely brought to his knees by the women in his life. BUD FRUMP - Biggley's nephew. (Male - Age 20-40, tenor) Frump is a lazy weasel who expects to succeed in the company through nepotism. He appears to have everything put together, but the people who know him, know the truth. ROSEMARY PILKINGTON - Office Secretary (Female - Age 20-35, mezzo or alto) Rosemary is beautiful, loyal and long-suffering. She is in love with Finch and supports him in his climb to succeed in the company. She is spurned and ignored several times throughout the show and continues to return to Finch. HEDY LA RUE - The Other Woman (Female - Age 20-40, soprano or mezzo) Hedy is the sexy bombshell who is having an affair with Biggley. She is not bright but knows how to use her looks to succeed in the company. She later appears as the pirate mascot in the company "treasure hunt." SMITTY - Office Secretary (Female - Age 20-45, mezzo or alto) Smitty is friend and confidant of Rosemary. She is less idealistic than Rosemary and encourages her in her efforts to snag Finch. MISS JONES - Mr. Biggsley's secretary (Female - Age 20-60, high belt) Miss Jones is the extremely gruff executive secretary to the head of the company. She is the one that keeps Biggley in line, and all of the employees try to stay out of her way. She breaks this mold late in the show with an upbeat solo. This character must be a belter. BERT BRATT - Personnel Manager (Male - Age 20-60, baritone) Harried executive that does a quality job. Bratt is central to the hirings and firings that move the plot along and is one of the only executives who seems to do his job. MR TWIMBLE - Head of the Mail Room (Male - Age 30-60, baritone) Hardworking low-level executive who has been beaten down by working in the mail room for too many years. He is a genuinely likeable guy. WALLY WOMPER - Chairman of the Board (Male - Age 40-70, baritone) Womper is a grumpy looking man who is largely silent. When he does speak, he is revealed to be a gruff but charming man who is proud of his blue-collar background. MISS KRUMHOLTZ - Mr. Gatch's secretary (Female - Age 20-60, soprano, mezzo, or alto) Miss Krumholtz is the professional secretary that is completely loyal to the executive she is assigned to that day. MILT GATCH - Head of Plans and Systems (Male - Age 20-60, tenor, baritone, or bass) Gatch is a confident and handsome junior executive who is not immune to an attractive female. BENJAMIN BURTON DANIEL OVINGTON - New head of advertising (Male - Age 20-40, tenor, baritone, or bass) Ovington is the golden boy. Tall, handsome, athletic and smart.
