Dept of Dance at CWRU announces Fall 2020 Performance Spaces and Places

Case Western Reserve University’s performance series, Nouveaux Espaces, kicks off this November with a new work by faculty member Gary Galbraith. Spaces and Places is a video dance project that promises to take us outside the ‘boxes of dancers’ we have all seen in virtual projects since last March. Galbraith, who continues to chart new territories in dance, collaborated with 14 dancers, both undergraduate and graduate, located around the world - Cleveland, Ghana, and China, for a work that is fully outdoors. Placing the Cleveland dancers in small groups at selected sculptures on the CWRU campus, he is using exciting spherical video technology that will allow the viewer to see the movements from different angles. Video of the dancers in Ghana, who are dancing along pathways,and inside groves of trees, along with dancers on blocks of stone along the ocean and in a field in China, will be artfully aligned with the videos taken in Cleveland. This work will premiere in November 2020, and will be made available on the CWRU Department of Dance YouTube Channel <https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrHSOF-J0QLpse-RiPjcPcQ>. Neighbor is a mid 20s man with a carefree spirit and doesn’t mind a little bit of drugs and alcohol. About the Director As a new director I am a driven hardworking film student looking to gain as much experience as I can before graduating and build those strong relationships with the arts community. Malone University Presents ANIMAL FARM: A Fable in Two Acts

Malone University is excited to announce our fall production of ANIMAL FARM: A Fable in Two Acts, adapted by Nelson Bond from George Orwell's classic novel. The production is directed by director-in-residence Craig Joseph and features Keon Dalziel, Tyler Kirker, Julia Robinson, Josof Ruttig, Christian Sanko, Alaina Smith, and Emma Wiseman, all playing multiple roles. ANIMAL FARM is a readers' theatre piece, which is being adapted for the film medium during the COVID-19 pandemic. The students' performances will be supplemented by music, sound effects, video clips, and original artwork by 54 artists around the country to create an "illustrated radio play" of sorts that will be viewable online. Performance dates are Fridays and Saturdays, November 13th-14th and 20th-21st. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at https://AnimalFarmMalone.eventbrite.com. Join Cody Swanson as he teaches you the ins and outs of dialects from all over the United States or from different parts of the world. These dialects can be used on-stage or for film work. Get Your Halloween Thrills As Radio on the Lake Theatre Performs The Birds

Radio on the Lake Theatre, the only theater company in Northeast Ohio exclusively dedicated to the illumination of the radio play, is pleased to announce its next live performance. The Birds will be performed on Friday, October 30 at 6 pm at the company's home base in Shaker Heights. Adapted from the terrifying short story by Daphne DuMaurier, that served as the source material for the iconic Alfred Hitchcock film, The Birds takes place in a small seaside village in England in the late 1940s. The Waite family is plunged headlong into a fight for their lives when the local bird population declares war on humanity. The Birds will be performed in Radio on the Lake's outdoor space. Seating is limited, and social distancing and mask-wearing will be strictly enforced. In the event of inclement weather on October 30, the performance will be moved to Saturday, October 31 at 3 pm.
