"Lysistrata" Auditions at Lorain County Community College

LYSISTRATA By Aristophanes Translation by Nicholas Rudall Directed by Stephanie Wilbert Lorain County Community College theatre program announces non-equity auditions for “Lysistrata,” a bawdy anti-war comedy by the ancient Greek playwright Aristophanes, first staged in 411 BCE. It is the comic account of one woman’s extraordinary mission to end the Peloponnesian War, as Lysistrata convinces the women of Greece to withhold sexual privileges from their husbands as a means of forcing the men to negotiate peace. Some consider it his greatest work, and it is probably the most anthologized. Nicholas Rudall's new translation captures the splendid variety of Aristophanes' astute theatricality and poetic wit. Copies of the script will be on reserve at the LCCC Bass Library until the audition dates. WHO: Auditions are open to all LCCC students and staff, as well as actors from the community. WHAT: Auditions will be held in 5-minute time slots. You will be asked to read from available sides at the audition. If available, please bring one copy of your headshot and resume to the audition. The C. Paul Stocker Humanities and Fine Arts Center (Stocker Arts Center), on the campus of Lorain County Community College (LCCC) in Elyria, OH, opened its doors in 1980 and annually hosts performances from professional touring music, theatre, and dance attractions, to regional performing organizations. The facility features two theatres and the Beth K. Stocker Art Gallery. Stocker Arts Center is looking for an organized, customer service-focused individual to serve as our part-time House Personnel Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of Stocker, the House Personnel Coordinator: ● Hires, trains, evaluates, schedules, and supervises the front-of-house personnel for all events. ● Coordinates schedules and needs of each individual event with appropriate managers. ● Monitors the upkeep of the facility. ● Communicates with rental clients in order to meet their front-of-house needs. ● Fills in at any front-of-house position location when able or necessary. ● When serving as the primary House Manager at an event, conducts service evaluations of front-of-house staff, prepares Event Reports, and acts as the first responder to audience and/or facility problems. *Required Qualifications:* A high school degree and 1 or more years of prior experience in a theatre, school, or other performing arts venue front-of-house role. Current CPR Certification, or willingness to obtain certification at College’s expense, and a valid Ohio driver's license are also required. Must be able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously. Must work effectively in a team environment and possess computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Must be able to work a flexible schedule which includes evenings and weekends. Must be able to perform moderate lifting (40+ pounds). *Preferred Qualifications:* Associates degree or higher. Must be detail-oriented and possess outstanding interpersonal, organizational and supervisory skills, along with having a positive attitude and proactive customer service philosophy. Painting the Town: Art Competition for Utility Box Designs Building on the success of several years of traffic utility box projects, the Shaker Arts Council (SHAC) is pleased to announce this year’s project: *Painting the Town*. SHAC is sponsoring a juried *art competition* for the design of *utility boxes* located in Shaker Heights. Local artists are invited to participate. All designs must be submitted electronically on the template provided. Applicants who reside in the Shaker Heights School District or are a member of the Shaker Arts Council are also eligible. Applicants may submit more than one (1) design, but each must be submitted in a separate email. There are no entry fees. Artists retain all copyrights to their artwork. All entries must be anonymous. *Do not sign your submittal nor indicate your name on the submitted design document.* André Taylor, Art Educator, will serve as this year’s jury chair. Since all of the boxes have slightly different dimensions, artists whose work is selected may have to reformat their designs to fit the matched boxes. Design Criteria: - Black or very dark backgrounds are not permitted. - Words are not permitted in the designs, per the City of Shaker Heights code. - Art created in non-digital media must be digitized for submittal. - Final designs must be submitted as camera-ready, 600 dpi files. Medina Centre for Dance Art has been the lead dance educator in Medina County for almost 20 years. This local dance school services 300+ students a year through its fantastic staff's hard work. As a Medina historic business district leader, MCDA is active, engaged in, and supportive of the local community. We are looking for a high-energy candidate, a friendly people-person that is not afraid of social media and is excited about marketing. Our enrollment coordinator will work with the studio owner to launch new social media marketing campaigns and manage the trial class program and the enrollment and onboarding process. Key position : * fulfill student enrollment goals each month and quarter * have direct interaction with current and potential students and their families * support new students and families through the enrollment and onboarding process * receive training in the studio's social media marketing process * continuously update and improve the studio welcome and onboarding packets * be creative and willing to develop marketing materials * manage social media posts, ads, and content schedule * engage in daily administrative and customer service tasks (i.e., filing, answering phones, etc.) * support the studio owner and other administrative staff in large projects and tasks Potential candidates will: Have a strong understanding of dance or arts-related education programing Possess strong written and verbal communication skills Be able to work independently and with limited supervision Be available evenings and Saturday mornings Have reliable transportation Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word Candidate should have a firm understanding of Google Docs, Forms, and Sheets The position will require 15-20 hours a week.
