The Luminescent Moon Theatre announces a musical theatre dance workshop at its new location at 84 1/2 N Portage Street Doylestown Ohio 44230 🌙 Our musical theatre dance workshop will be 3 Thursdays from 5-6 p.m., taught by our instructor Kayla Smith. These Thursdays are July 21st, July 28th, August 4th and students will perform during the August 11th recital if they choose along with private voice and acting students. Any attendees will be learning a small dance combo to a selected song. They will be working using their bodies as a way to express what is going on in the song without words. Students will learn how to use their faces and bodies to communicate. They will learn how to create a character of their own design to correlate with the song. Students should come prepared to try new things and step out of their comfort zones. Please dress comfortably and wear comfortable shoes. Water will be provided. We will be shooting short spokesperson video promos to showcase four to five new Komy Mirror products. The spokesperson will be filmed in an office environment. The finished videos will be of various lengths from 15 seconds to 1 minute. Mostly, the text will be brief product descriptions done as direct address to the camera. Interested actors should submit a headshot and a short YouTube video with the following text: "Our mirrors are useful in many environments including offices, and hospitals. Disney's NEWSIES seizes the stage at CVLT this summer CHAGRIN FALLS, OH - Set in turn-of-the-century New York City, Disney's NEWSIES is a musical about taking a stand. Based on the 1992 Disney film of the same name, the show features a Tony Award-winning score by Alan Menken (/Little Mermaid, Aladdin/) and Jack Feldman, and book by Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein (/Kinky Boots/). NEWSIES will appear on the Chagrin Valley Little Theatre main stage at 40 River Street from July 22 through August 13. Performances will be Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 PM with two Sunday matinees on July 31 and August 8 at 2 PM. The story of NEWSIES is inspired by the real-life newsboys' strike of 1899, but its themes remain fresh over a century later. It's a rousing story of passion and perseverence that highlights the power of young people to organize in the fight against opression and to take on the issues that directly affect them. NEWSIES follows Jack Kelly (Tony Heffner), a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of homeless teens who sell newspapers to make a small living. Jack has his eye on Katherine (Emily Sedmak), a reporter who happens to be the daughter of newspaper titan Joseph Pulitzer (Rob Albrecht). When Pulitzer raises paper distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack rallies his fellow newsies across the city to fight against the unfair conditions. Directed by Pamela LaForce with musical director David Coxe, NEWSIES intertwines this coming-of-age story with high tension action, uplifting music, and energetic dance numbers choreographed by Jen Justice. AUDITION/PERFORMANCE LOCATION Broadview Heights Spotlights Building 22 (Located next to the Police Station at the rear of the Broadview Center Property) 9543 Broadview Rd Broadview Heights, OH 44147 PERFORMANCES September 2 – 17, 2022, Fridays & Saturdays at 7:30PM Sunday, September 11 at 3:00PM SYNOPSIS Two cops. Three crooks. Eight doors. Go. In a cheap motel room, an embezzling mayor is supposed to meet with his female accountant, while in the room next-door, two undercover cops wait to catch the meeting on videotape. But there’s some confusion as to who’s in which room, who’s being videotaped, who’s taken the money, who’s hired a hit man, and why the accountant keeps taking off her clothes. CAST REQUIREMENTS 7 Roles: 4 male, 3 female Seeking actors of any age 18+, gender, race, and/or ethnicity. Eric Sheridan: Male, 20s to 40s. A bookish, even-keeled police officer who’s thrown into some difficult situations — while not wearing any pants. Billie Dwyer: Female, 20s to 40s. A police officer. Eric’s partner. Although she seems to lack every skill needed for police work, she is enthusiastic and eager to succeed. Karen Brown: Female, 20s to 40s. An accountant who usually has a very professional demeanor, but seems unable to keep herself in control today. Note: the actress cast would likely be on stage in her underwear and/or a slip. Mayor Meekly: Male, 50s to 70s. A sweet, gentle fellow, who seems very Innocent (with a capital I) Agent Frank: Male, 20s to 50s. Town Hall head of Security. Although he can seem confident and even gruff, in moments of crisis he is easily reduced to a very frightened man. Todd: Male, 20s to 50s. Speaks with a pronounced Scottish accent. A professional hit man who’s accent gets thicker the angrier he gets, until he’s completely indecipherable. Mary Meekly: Female, 50s to 70s. The Mayor’s wife. Small statured, she seems very sweet natured, and a good match for her husband the mayor. REHEARSALS Begin August 6 at Broadview Heights Spotlights Theate.
