I am a classically trained pianist who studied concert piano and music theory at the Cleveland Institute of Music in the preparatory department for many years since the age of 7. I have experience playing in and accompanying church groups, jazz bands, numerous musicals (from kids Jr. versions to full productions) and have even music directed a few times for children's musicals. In addition to classical music, I have studied jazz, and also played in a metal band. I can play 5 instruments, but if it's piano/keyboards or bass (electric or concert), I'm your man! Good Morning Theatre People!: I hope this finds you well and you were fortunate enough to enjoy the holiday with family and friends, which are the truly important things. My name is Mark Hersch and I'm looking for local theatres to partner with that want to broaden their audience base. I have a class called "Achieve More, Perform Better and Get What You Want." I developed the curriculum, and have taught the class at continuing education programs, adult education classes and local libraries. as well as at a Deans' Leadership Conference at The Ohio State University. It's an interactive class that covers a five-point plan to help students "Achieve, Perform, Get and Appreciate." The class incorporates skits and storytelling to cover Goal Setting, Creating and Executing A To Do List, Time Management, Making Better Decisions, and Personal Growth. I am putting together my 2024 teaching schedule and have some dates still available. I can only work with a limited number of theatres in the Northeast Ohio area. Let me know if you'd be interested in partnering with me to offer this at your theatre. The fee structure is very favorable to the theatres, offering them more than half of the class fee. Mary Lennox, known as a difficult child, is sent to live at her uncle’s estate in England-Misselthwaite Manor which turns out to be a gloomy fortress. Her uncle is rarely home, and his young son, Colin, never leaves his room, convinced he’s an incurable invalid. To her surprise, Mary discovers a strange walled garden that has been locked up for years. With the assistance of Dickon, the gardener’s apprentice, Mary brings the garden back to life with wonderful, magical effects on all who come into it. Good morning, NEOhioPal Community, I hope everyone is having a great holiday season! Hiram College is in search of a technical director this spring (and possibly more long-term!)! Duties include: * Teach one class—usually, we have PERF 17000 & 17900: Tech Production and the lab on the schedule for spring semester * Design lights and sets for the spring theatre production in our Renner Theatre (On the Verge, directed by guest director, Brittany Jackson) * Assist student director, Grace Domabyl, with lights and “set” and maybe sound-for her one-act play in Hiram’s Showboat Theatre—play yet to be chosen. * Supervise work-study students in building the shows (usually about 5 students) * Supervise the students also working on the shows for credit: THEA 14700 (1 credit hour) * Serve as “Building Manager,” dealing with keys, helping students with access, and putting in any maintenance requests) * Working with Professor Betsy Bauman to maintain the budget for the set requirements. The Millennial Theatre Project and the Arts Inclusion Incubator will host an awesome acting intimacy workshop, "Acting with Heart: Empowering Consent and Connection on Stage" With Kerstin Vaughn. Kerstin Vaughn has her MFA in theatre performance and pedagogy. Her theatrical practice and research have centered on inclusivity, accessibility, and consent. She has taken numerous workshops with Theatrical Intimacy Education as well as Intimacy Directors and Coordinators and has worked on several productions as the intimacy choreographer. This workshop focuses on some super important skills like understanding consent for the stage, communicating physical and emotional boundaries, and considering different bodies and experiences in your performances. Plus, you'll learn how to manage those moments of heightened emotions and set intimate choreography. It's gonna be a blast! He has the same social status as Lord Capulet, with whom he is in feud, and is also extremely wealthy. Had he been wealthier, he might have been able to afford to value his morals more than money, and refused to sell poison to Romeo. * Peter - (Male, Late Teens - 30s) - A Capulet servant who invites guests to Capulet’s feast and escorts the Nurse to meet with Romeo. He is illiterate, and a bad singer. * Sampson - (Male/Female - Late Teens - 30s) - Servant of the house of Capulet, who, like their master, hate the Montagues. * Gregory - (Male/Female - Late Teens - 30s) - Servant of the house of Capulet, who, like their master, hate the Montagues. * Friar Laurence (Male, 30+) - a Franciscan friar, friend to both Romeo and Juliet.
