Cleveland Chamber Choir: Meditations and Mysticism

Take a moment, take a breath, take time, take care. These words close the Cleveland Chamber Choir's upcoming concert series, Meditations and Mysticism, on October 26th and 27th, a program that invites us to find our center and reflect on the wonder that surrounds us. Medieval mystic Hildegard of Bingen’s chant draws us into this space. Britten’s beloved bestiary composition, Rejoice in the Lamb, celebrates the majesty of all creatures great and small. Philip Glass’s modern minimalism, in the final scene of Einstein on the Beach, delights in the magic of love. This concert is presented in partnership with award-winning mental health program, Ghetto Therapy™️, which offers free therapy sessions open to the public for all age groups. Therapy sessions include a healthy dinner, facilitated discussions by guest speakers and exposure to different forms of therapy including Reiki, sound, art, meditation, and yoga. Our Saturday performance will also feature a fundraiser, celebrating 10 years of making music in Cleveland. There will be raffle baskets, with goods and experiences generously donated by Cleveland businesses and organizations; raffle tickets will be available for purchase at the event. Following the performance, you can join us for a reception ($20 suggested donation). We hope you will celebrate with us! FREE Actor Workshop from Seat of the Pants

Back by popular demand, we are hosting our second FREE scene study workshop on November 13th at 6:30pm at a location TBD in Cleveland. We will explore a handful of tools and ensemble building exercises after which we will dive into utilizing those tools directly in scenework. Those who submit for the workshop will be cast in a selected scene and assigned a scene partner. Those scenes will be distributed as soon as possible with additional information. In order to submit for this workshop please complete the following: 1. Email mike.glavan(a)gmail.com with your interest. 2. Submit a headshot and resume (if you have them, and if you do not, pass along a recent candid photo and a few lines about your experiences). 3. We'd love to hear what kind of work you're interested in pursuing. What is a role you've always wanted to play or a genre you'd love to explore? It's perfectly fine to say "I'm game for anything" too. We take a good amount of time and care to find scenes that will push you or help you explore new aspects of your artistry. Because of that, and because of the nature of having a scene partner who will be dependent upon your attendance, we're asking for a deposit of $5 to hold your spot for this workshop. NOTE: This is a zero-budget, non-paid student film, but make no mistake - this is a production I take very seriously. My name is Ron Sonedecker, I am a 51 year old USAF Veteran and a Film student at Kent State University. I am directing a student short that I wrote - "Stolen Valor". Taglines: "Behind every story lies a deeper wound." "Behind every story lies a deeper wound. And some lies hide a painful truth." Loglines: "A stranger joins a War Veteran’s support group, hiding a personal grief behind a false identity, but when the truth is uncovered, their shared pain binds them all in unexpected ways." "A newcomer to a veteran’s support group hides behind a fabricated story, but when his real motive is uncovered, the group must confront a deeper, shared loss." This is a short story about the father of a soldier who was recently KIA, and he seeks connection at a War Veteran's meeting - but he does so by pretending to be a veteran himself, which does not go over well. But once he reveals the truth, he is fully accepted into the group. Auditions can be done by tape, but also feel free to send any demo reels.
