Once the session reaches capacity, additional applicants will be placed on a waitlist. *WHAT* Taught by CPT Teaching Artist and CAN Academy Site Coordinator, Zyrece Montgomery, and Supporting Teaching Artist Olivia Wolfram, *Her Legacy *is an in-person, after-school theatre program where youth will work as an ensemble to build an original piece centered around recognizing the women who have been impactful in their lives and celebrating their legacy. This session is a devising workshop that provides a platform for youth to build confidence in self-expression, self-discovery, writing, and collaborative storytelling skills. This spring session culminates in an in-person showcase of the young artists’ original work. CAN Academy performing arts activities improve academic skills, instill empathy and responsibility, build character, and enhance creative thinking. *This program is offered at NO COST, thanks to the Cleveland Foundation.* All classes are in person on-site at Cleveland Public Theatre. The voice acting landscape has changed, as you've probably noticed. You can't start on the bottom rung and claw your way up anymore; the "robots" (AI, text-to-speech programs) have taken that bottom rung. You'll have to leap over the robots to even get a foothold. This is a program that will prepare you to compete in the brave new world of voice acting. Spring, 2024 Voice Acting Fundamentals! The class will consist of six, 2-hour sessions on Saturday afternoons from 2 to 4pm beginning March 2nd and ending April 13th (we'll take Easter Weekend off). We'll meet at Colors Audio in Akron. What will you learn? Sanford Meisner said that "Acting is behaving truthfully under imaginary circumstances." But here's the typical v/o audition scenario: The client has given you a snippet of a script, exactly two (contradictory) words of direction, no circumstances, and a strong temptation to behave "untruthfully." How do we not only perform that script, but OWN it? I'll show you how to do that. *Murder on the Orient Express* *Review by Laura Kennelly* *A shotgun wedding — an Agatha Christie thriller combined with playwright Ken Ludwig’s sense of the ridiculous — makes for a mystery-packed comedy production of Murder on the Orient Express at Great Lakes Theater.* *While it may sound lovely to ride on an elegantly decorated express train from Istanbul to Paris, our story makes it obvious it is a mistake to ride anywhere with mystery writer Christie’s Detective Hercule Poirot. My name is Juni Musto and I am a current third year film student at Cleveland State University. I am also currently directing a short film that I wrote last semester called 'Sweatshirt'. Sweatshirt is about the struggle of hiding your identity from the people you love the most, your own parents. After not being accepted by the people who love him most, he has to overcome his true self and be confident in who he is. He wears a sweatshirt throughout the film but will be wearing a crop top and hair accessories in other scenes. I would love someone who can portray a boy with a lot of energy and can quickly shift away from this into a more emotional state. *[ACTOR MUST BE COMFORTABLE WITH FEMININE CLOTHING AND EYEDROPS *for tears*]* • *VALENTINA [mother] (SUPPORTING): Hispanic or Latino Descent, 30-45, Female* Valentina is Elias's light hearted mother. She tried to find some closure when praying for Elias. I would love someone who can really pull off emotional expressions.
