Micro Theater CLE is accepting submissions for its first event, May 24-25 at the Brownhoist building. The submission deadline is March 15. Here’s more information: https://www.microtheatercle.com/submissions The micro theater concept started in Madrid before launching in Miami and Buenos Aires, and this will be the first time it's happened in Cleveland (that we know of). At Micro Theater events we produce 10-15 short performances that are staged simultaneously in different rooms throughout the same building. Each show is performed 3-5 times per night, so the audience can see a few short plays in an evening with time in between to chat over beers. Traditional plays, experimental plays, dramas, comedies, physical theater, sketch, clown, burlesque, performance art, and immersive performance are all fair game. Performances should be 15-minutes or less and will be staged in small rooms or site specific spaces inside the Brownhoist (be bold, you can do a lot on a very small stage). If you're excited about it, we'll try and make it work. We have experienced producers, directors, performers you can collaborate with, or you’re welcome to direct and cast the show on your own. And if you’re a director (or interested in trying out directing) and/or an actor and would be interested in being in someone else’s show, let us know! Disney’s THE LION KING JR. Playing at Academy for Dramatic Arts located in Christ United Church in Olmsted Falls Disney’s The Lion King JR. is playing at Academy for Dramatic Arts located in Christ United Church starting on Thursday April 18th through Sunday April 21st. The 60-minute musical, designed for middle-school aged performers, is based on the Broadway production directed by Julie Taymor and the 1994 Disney film. The Academy for Dramatic Arts cast contains 39 students led by Director Joshua Landis The Lion King JR. tells the story of the epic adventures of a curious cub named Simba as he struggles to accept the responsibilities of adulthood and his destiny as king. Along the way, the young lion encounters a colorful cast of characters including spunky lioness Nala, charismatic meerkat Timon, and loveable warthog Pumbaa. To claim his rightful place on the throne and save his beloved Pridelands , Simba must find his inner strength and confront his wicked Uncle Scar. The Lion King JR. features classic songs from the 1994 film such as “Hakuna Matata” and the Academy Award®-winning “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” as well as additional songs penned for the Broadway production. The performances of Disney’s The Lion King JR. are open to the public. Admission is $10. The members of the association gathered a group of 20 concerned citizens with the love for the arts and raised the initial funds needed to run the academy for one year time. Our first show, Jungle Book Kids had 13 kids in the cast. Since then our academy has grown to include our Theatre for Beginning Artists, Youth Theatre and Main Stage theatre, Summer Theatre Camp as well as partnering with the city of Berea to provide performing arts classes. Male-Identifying Actor Needed For A Play Through

My play, Tell The Brethren, about the Roman Catholic Women Priesthood movement, is near the end of its current workshop stage. Four female-identifying actors have been cast, and I need a male-identifying actor to participate in a play through. The play through will be followed by scene improvisation. The play has been in a breathable workshop space most of January. I have a female director leading the reading and they will lead the play through. We will connect with each other via email. The play through will be February 24th at the church on the Cleveland Public Theatre campus from 10am to 1pm. If you can make that time, please let me know. You will have scripts in hand for both, no need to memorize. The director will cast. While this is unpaid, you will be helping a playwright's development process and your work will be credited in a future production. . Please respond if interested.
