Chagrin Valley Little Theatre - a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization in Chagrin Falls, is seeking a director for "Erma Bombeck: At Wit’s End" - a one-woman, full length comedy. 6 weekend performances between Sept 20-29, 2024. This position comes with a stipend. Please contact Tom Jones, Vice Chair Production & Technical Committee for questions and to arrange an interview - tjones(a)cvlt.org CVLT is also seeking one or more volunteer light board operators for "Don’t Dress for Dinner" (Fridays and Saturday evenings May 17-June 8 and Sunday afternoons May 2 and May 9) and "The Prom" (Friday and Saturday evenings July 19-August 10 and Sunday afternoon August 4.) Training will be provided, no previous experience needed. Must be able to climb a ladder to get into the light booth. Volunteer(s) will be required to attend rehearsals Sunday through Thursday evening the week before opening. If you cannot commit to all dates, we may be able to make arrangements for sharing with another volunteer. Calling all dance companies / freelance artists

CDP Company is hosting its second annual Community Collaborative Performance on June 22, 2024 at Inlet Dance Theater. We hope to give voice to other local pre-professional and professional choreographers in our showcase by allowing space to air new works / works in progress to the community. We are especially seeking artists producing work that is innovative, diverse, relevant, and challenging. All works must be under 10 minutes long. The theme of this year’s show is Dance and The Human Experience. While we invite you to apply with works that apply to this theme, it is not a requirement! Selected choreographers will be paid a stipend, as well as receive photos & videos of their work, and other perks including studio rehearsal time at CDP studios. Choreographers are responsible for having their own dancers and rehearsal time. Tech/dress run will be the morning of June 22, followed by a late afternoon performance and discussion / Q&A following the performance. Schedule will be set after finalizing participants. All applicants will be selected based on the documentation submitted and quality of their work submitted. All performers and choreographers must be over 18 years of age. Applications are due March 29, 2024. Decisions will be made by April 1. Painting the Town: Art Competition for Utility Box Designs Building on the success of several years of traffic utility box projects, the Shaker Arts Council (SHAC) is pleased to announce this year’s project: *Painting the Town*. SHAC is sponsoring a juried *art competition* for the design of *utility boxes* located in Shaker Heights. Local artists are invited to participate. All designs must be submitted electronically on the template provided. Designs and applications must be submitted to SHAC via email ( info(a)shakerartscouncil.org) no later than *Friday 22 March 2024.* Eligibility: Applicants must be at least 21 years old and live or work in Shaker Heights. Applicants who reside in the Shaker Heights School District or are a member of the Shaker Arts Council also are eligible. Applicants may submit more than one (1) design, but each must be submitted in a separate email. There are no entry fees. Artists retain all copyrights to their artwork. Artists whose designs are selected will receive a $500.00 stipend after the work is installed. All entries must be anonymous. *Do not sign your submittal nor indicate your name on the submitted design document.* André Taylor, Art Educator, will serve as this year’s jury chair. Since all of the boxes have slightly different dimensions, artists whose work is selected may have to reformat their designs to fit the matched boxes. Design Criteria: - Black or very dark backgrounds are not permitted. - Words are not permitted in the designs, per the City of Shaker Heights code. - Art created in non-digital media must be digitized for submittal. - Final designs must be submitted as camera-ready, 600 dpi files. By submitting a design proposal, all artists agree to: - allow SHAC to use images of the designs on printed materials, websites and social media for promotional purposes only; - allow SHAC to photograph the work; - allow SHAC to submit the proposal to the city’s Shaker Heights Arts Task Force for their final approval and to obtain the artist’s modification of the design, if necessary, to meet the city’s requirements. Lakewood Ohio’s Beck Center for the Arts will hold auditions for “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical” on February 19th and 20th. Auditions slots will occur between 5PM and 8PM each day and are by APPOINTMENT ONLY. Times fill up quickly so get your appointment early. Appointments can be obtained by calling the Beck Center Box Office during regular business hours at 216-521-2540. {Those who cannot make it in person---see below.} For Open Call auditions please prepare a single brief (90 seconds or less) vocal selection in either Pop or Broadway style. Bring sheet music in your key. An accompanist will be provided. Self accompanying on Piano or Guitar is also fine. Video Auditions WILL be accepted through February 20th. Please note that out of town actors need to be aware that Beck Center does NOT regularly have housing to provide except in rare instances. Please take that into account when submitting. Callbacks for “Beautiful” will occur the weekend of Feb. 24/25 times TBD. “Beautiful” opens Friday, July 12th and closes Sunday, August 11th and performs in the 484 seat Senney Theatre. Rehearsals are expected to begin in very late May or early June. Soon after, she meets her future husband and creative collaborator, Gerry Goffin. In a musical whirlwind, the couple are married, King gives birth to their first child and the duo make a name for themselves in the music business, knocking out hit after hit. However, while their careers are on the rise, Carole’s personal life falls apart when Gerry announces that he wants an affair. As Carole tries to negotiate marriage, adultery and personal happiness, she is supported by friends and playful rivals, Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann. Although they all compete for number one hits on the pop chart, Carole relies on their support to change her life and find her own voice.
