*Cleveland Public Theatre Announces Auditions for STEP 2024, celebrating 30 years of empowering artmaking!* *CPT’s Student Theatre Enrichment Program (STEP) is a rigorous arts-based program* that provides hands-on job training and engages youth from Cleveland families in a powerful learning experience that develops job skills, academic achievement, and interpersonal skills. As part of this eight-week summer program, youth ages 14-19 work together to create, produce, perform, and tour their own play. This program is the longest-running arts-based workplace development program in Cleveland and is an international model for engaging youth. Since its beginning in 1994, STEP has received multiple awards and recognitions including those from the City of Cleveland, The President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Through STEP, teens see themselves as a positive and inspirational force and watch as their work has an impact on the larger Cleveland community. STEP is a Paid Artistic Opportunity. This year’s program will run from *June 10th-August 4th, Monday-Friday from 11:00am-5:00pm. This is a temporary full-time position. Position begins *June 3rd, 2024 and ends no later than August 9th, 2024.* The STEP Teaching Artist salary is $600/wk, and the STEP Tech Assistant role earns between $500-600 per week. Set salaries are based on a candidate’s experience and range of skills. ------------------------------ *JOB DESCRIPTION* CPT is hiring Teaching Artists for the Student Theatre Enrichment Project. This role reports to the Artistic and Education Associate, who serves as the Program Director for STEP. The STEP Teaching Artists are integral in guiding young artists in the creation of an original performance which tours throughout the greater Cleveland area. Teaching Artists additionally support the Technical Director and Associate Technical Director in the supervision of a group of teenagers (STEP Tech Team) implementing the set and sound needs for an outdoor touring show, including a basic sound system and typically, a 16’ x 20’ stage. The STEP Tech Assistant supports 6 hours of daily instruction in technical theatre skills and assists in supervising teens while building scenic elements. The position may require some extended hours but will average 35-40 hours a week. CPT summer programming will include up-to-date safety precautions for artists, staff, and patrons. ------------------------------ *PROGRAM DESCRIPTION* CPT’s Student Theatre Enrichment Program (STEP) is an arts-based job training program that engages Cleveland teens in a powerful, 8-week intensive (4 weeks for Tech Team students) that focuses on excellence in performance, play creation, physical theatre, writing, production, and set design/construction. Students aged 14-19, presenting a wide range of performance experience, are eligible for participation and earn money while learning and practicing valuable job skills such as timeliness, communication, commitment, and teamwork. Under the guidance of CPT artists, teens develop an original play and then tour it to public greenspaces, theatres, and community organizations throughout the city of Cleveland. Since its beginning in 1994, STEP has received multiple awards and recognitions, including those from the City of Cleveland, The President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Celebrating 30 years of empowering artmaking, STEP is the longest-running arts-based, job-training program in Cleveland and has been utilized as an international model for engaging youth. STEP ensembles, comprised primarily of Black and Brown artists, see themselves as a positive and inspirational force and are able to witness their work’s invaluable impact on the larger Cleveland community. The Hare and Tortoise in the greatest race on earth with a nail biting, seconds ticking, medal winning end…Tortoise (can be played by any age/gender)Tortious is wiser than the hare, and feels it’s their responsibility to care for and mentor the young, impatient hare. Tortoise represents someone who also is not afraid to stop and appreciate life’s greatest moments, and not afraid to live life on their own terms and speed.This will be a community and school touring production, so actors should have daytime and weekend availability and reliable transportation. OPEN AUDITIONS: "Don’t Dress for Dinner" a comedy by Marc Camoletti Adapted by Robin Hawdon Bernard is planning a romantic weekend with his chic Parisian mistress in his charming converted French farmhouse, whilst his wife, Jacqueline, is away. He has arranged for a cordon bleu cook to prepare gourmet delights, and has invited his best friend, Robert, along too to provide the alibi. It’s foolproof; what could possibly go wrong? Well… suppose Robert turns up not realizing quite why he has been invited. Suppose Robert and Jacqueline are secret lovers, and consequently determined that Jacqueline will NOT leave for the weekend. Suppose the cook has to pretend to be the mistress and the mistress can’t cook. Suppose everyone’s alibi gets confused with everyone else’s. An evening of hilarious confusion ensues as Bernard and Robert improvise at breakneck speed. The One Of A KIND Theater company seeks male, comedic actors that can sing to complete our cast of “Not a Day Over Fabulous”. The musical is an original comedy about Aging. The show was first performed last spring and raised over 7K for the Alzheimer’s Association. We are delighted to be revising the show this spring, brought back by popular demand! We are an award winning company that creates awareness while raising funds for local charities through musical theater. It also touches on the subjects of compassion vs. greed and hatred AND the relationship aspects of dignified culture vs. hookup culture. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 9 to 5, The Musical • Auditions Lorain Community Music Theater announces auditions for 9 to 5 The Musical, the hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era! Auditions will be held on Sat., March 2, 2024 from 12:45 pm – 2:45 pm and Sun., March 3, 2024 from 2 pm – 4 pm.
