Mighty Goliath Productions (MGP) is seeking a volunteer Music Director for our upcoming community theatre production! MGP is a proud, all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the performing arts in Avon Lake City Schools. For over 60 years, we’ve brought high-quality, multi-generational musical theatre to life—powered entirely by passion! We are looking for a collaborative, enthusiastic Music Director who: 🎵 Loves musical theatre and working with singers of all experience levels 🎵 Can teach and rehearse vocal parts with both children and adults 🎵 Can work alongside our production team 🎵 Believes in the power of community, fun, and philanthropy 📍 Rehearsals are one day a week, beginning in the fall, with performances the first weekend in February 💼 This is a volunteer position—no compensation is provided 🎭 The show title will be formally revealed at the MGP annual picnic on July 26. Hello everyone. Summertime is maybe the best time for us to work on our voices because of longer days in which to get things like this done. It also represents a certain lighter spirit about what we choose to think about and do. I have spent most of my life learning about voice and how to produce it. I hope I can explain to my students HOW to use it to best effect and use it for the things you value most in USING your voice. Playmakers' 24 Hour Musical!

Announcing Playmakers' annual 24 Hour Musical! Be involved in a truly innovative, one-of-a-kind theater experience that teens & young adults call the highlight of the summer. The twist? You won't know the show or your role until you arrive to begin rehearsing! Arrive at the Mandel JCC on Saturday, July 26th at 10pm for the big reveal and stay up all night rehearsing and having a blast with your cast. The curtain rises at 7pm on Sunday, July 27th and the audience doesn't know what show they're seeing until they start! The 24 Hour Musical is directed by Emma Miller, director of Playmakers & New York City-based director, with music direction by Eric Golovan. To audition, send a tape singing 32 bars of any song to emiller(a)mandeljcc.org by Friday, July 18th. This production is open to participants ages 15-30. Please join me on *Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. *and take a trip back in time with me and Foster Brown when we present CANAL SONGS AND STORIES for the 200th anniversary of the opening of the Ohio-Erie Canal. The canal brought prosperity to the state by providing a faster transportation route through the frontier. Farmers could get their produce out for sale and they could purchase goods from the East. CDP Company is a professional contemporary jazz dance and wellness company seeking dancers, ages 18+, versatile in contemporary and jazz techniques for paid company dancer and apprentice dancer positions for the 2025-2026 season. Annual contracts include company class, paid performance & outreach; injury prevention & mental health screens; monthly physical therapy; dance photos & headshots; and other perks! Dancers should have interest in wellness and community movement outreach, and be available for 4.5 hours of weekly rehearsals plus 1-2 outreach/performances per month. Rehearsals are Wednesday 7:30-9pm and Sundays 11:30am-2:30pm in Independence, OH. Interested dancers ideally should preregister at cdpcompany.org/auditions, but walk ins are welcome. Auditions at Clague Playhouse for *Lettice and Lovage* “One of the sharpest, wittiest, most passionate and elegant plays of the year.” - *London Sunday Express* By Peter Shaffer (*Amadeus*, *Equus*), directed by David Vegh Audition dates/time: Monday, July 14th and Tuesday, July 15th from 6:00 to 9:00pm. Show dates: March 27th thru April 19th, 2026 Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30PM and Sundays at 2:00PM. Sides from the script will be provided at the auditions. If possible, please arrive at 6pm to receive full group instructions. If this is an issue for you, it’s not a deal-breaker, come anyway! Please arrive by 7:45pm at the latest. If you know that you will be unable to arrive before 7:45pm, please email the director, David Vegh, at dmv36(a)case.edu. Note: The show is set in England (mostly London) and the director would like to hear your best attempt at a British dialect at the audition. Please bring resume and headshot, if available. If you don't have a headshot, Clague will shoot one at auditions. No appointment is necessary. You can fill out audition form onsite or from website. Please print and bring with you. The story: Lettice Douffet, an expert on Elizabethan cuisine and medieval weaponry, is an indefatigable but daffy enthusiast of history and the theatre. As a tour guide at Fustian House, one of the least stately of London’s stately homes, she theatrically embellishes its historical past, ultimately coming up on the radar of Lotte Schon, an inspector from the Preservation Trust. Neither impressed or entertained by Lettice’s freewheeling history lessons, Schon fires her. Not one to go without a fight, Lettice engages the stoic, conventional Lotte in a battle to the death of all that is sacred to the Empire and the crown. This hit play by the author of Equus and Amadeus featured a triumphant, award-winning performance by Dame Maggie Smith in London and on Broadway. Characters: LETTICE DOUFFET - female, any race/ethnicity, 50s-70s. Willfully eccentric, flamboyant and theatrical. A consummate actress who lives for breathing color into an otherwise grey world, even if it means embellishing the truth on occasion. LOTTIE SCHOEN – female, any race/ethnicity, 50s-60s. Buckled up and 100% by-the-book Personnel Manager. Aggressively no nonsense. Resting dour face. But also suppressing a vibrant passion for life that Lettice awakens in her. MISS FRAMER – female, any race/ethnicity, 20s-30s, anxious in a comedic way. Lottie’s downtrodden Administrative Assistant. May also double as a Tour Member. MR. BARDOLPH – male, any race/ethnicity, middle-aged. Extremely dry, stoic and business-like Barrister. Initially befuddled by Lettice’s eccentric ways, he soon falls under the spell of her storytelling. May also double as a Tour Member. A SURLY MAN - A stuffy, pretentious Elizabethan scholar. Will also play a Tour Member. TOUR MEMBERS - We will cast four Tour Members in total. Some will also play other supporting roles in the play. These are smaller roles with just a handful of lines. These would be ideal for someone new to acting who would like to have the experience of doing a play, but would prefer a smaller role with less responsibility and memorization. Seat of the Pants is excited to present two readings of Christopher Johnston's new play, MRS. LINCOLN IS MAD, on Saturday, July 26th. There will be a matinee reading at 1:30 in Akron at Akron Christian Reformed Church; a 7:30 evening reading will take place in Westlake at Clague Playhouse. Both readings will be followed by a curated talkback with the audience, and Christopher would greatly appreciate your insights and thoughts before he does his next round of edits. MRS. LINCOLN IS MAD explores the life and struggles of First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln and the reverberations of mental illness across generations. The play includes descriptions of mental illnesses such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, a discussion of sexual abuse by a family member, and mentions of animal cruelty. This fourth offering in Seat of the Pants' Salon Series is directed by Scott Esposito, produced by Lisa Wiley, and features Trey Gilpin, Lisa Langford*, Anne McEvoy, Katherine Nash, Tammy Shanley, and Doug Sutherland.
