WUAL: Seeking Playwrights and Creative Writers for Performance Competition (Please share with your actors, performing artists, students, creative writers) Seeking playwrights / creative writers for special, inspirational “Miracles, Magic and Makeovers” project. Rationale: Watch the local and national news. Read the Internet. The media do not seem to address solutions to problems the community and country continue to face. The media seem to perpetuate and exacerbate society’s negative issues by broadcasting and magnifying society’s “uglies.” There is growing evidence that community members and the general public seem to be tired, agitated and frustrated with the conditions. However, they do not seem to know what to do or how to counteract the negative energies and be able to contribute what they can to effect positive change within themselves, their families and neighborhood. “A Brand New WUAL Day! Miracles, Magic and Makeovers” attempts to provide the higher level non-traditional thinking, principles and practices individuals can use to make such change. Wake Up and Live’s Actors’ Studio (WUAL) is launching its “Miracles, Magic and Makeovers” project and inviting playwrights / creative writers to submit 7 - 10-minute inspirational scenarios to be performed in various venues. Submissions should: 1. Address the Concept: Turn Your Life into One of Joy Health, Wealth and Happiness! (What story is character telling?) 2. Scenarios should have only 1 – 3 characters. 3. Be suitable to be presented on “Wake Up And Live With the Arts” YouTube show and / or on stage, and / or in workshops. 4. Be inspirational and uplifting. 5. Depict challenges or conflicts the character/s is facing, overcoming, or has overcome which allow him/her to now live an enlightened life on a higher level. 6. Suggested Universal principles and practices to address Wellness issues: . Physical, Mental, Emotional and / or Spiritual health . Family and other other relationships (love, work, social, toxicity) . Abuse (Domestic, Addictions, Employment, Elder, Etc.) . Financial and Material 7. Offer a non-traditional, thought-provoking approach to answers and problem-solving strategies to address life changes.8. Typed in current, standard play writing format. Selected entries: 1. If selected, scenarios will be performed on “Wake Up And Live With the Arts” and in live performance and workshops. 2. *Beck Center for the Arts* is pleased to announce auditions for replacements for our holiday season encore of *SHREK The Musical.* Appointments are now being taken for *Sunday Oct. 6th* beginning at 6PM and *Monday Oct 7th* beginning at 6PM. *Please call 216-521-2540 x10 to make your appointment.* *We are searching for Actor/Singer/Dancers ages** 17 to 45 for the following tracks:* *Dragon* (Female; Ideally African-American; must possess big belt/gospel sound) *Sugar Plum Fairy/Gingy* (Female; strong belt PLUS ability to do high puppet voice) *Papa Bear* (Male; Ideally 6'2" or over; bass/baritone) *2 of the 3 Little Pigs* (Male or Female; strong movers) *Big Bad Wolf* (Male; Strong Character Actor) *Fairy Godmother* (Female) *Ensemble One* (Male; Multiple Roles) *Ensemble Two* (Female; Multiple Roles) Most roles have doubling opportunities within the show (ie # Blind Mice/Duloc Dancers/etc) *Audition Preparation*: Please prepare one vocal selection, ideally from the Musical Theatre canon. Bring sheet music in your key. An accompanist will be provided. Singing a capella is highly discouraged. Song length should be no longer than 90 seconds. Dance calls will be held during call back sessions only. *Call Backs*: Will likely take place the weekend of Oct. 12/13 *Rehearsals:* Will most likely begin on or around Sat., Nov. 9th *Performances*: *SHREK* opens Fri. Dec. 6th and closes Sunday, Jan. 5th. Performances are Friday Evenings and Sat/Sun Afternoons with additional performances Sat evenings (Dec. 14th and 28th) and Thursday Dec. 19th. There are NO performances Dec. 23/24/25/26 to allow actors to travel for Christmas Break. Only Non-AEA actors will be seen for these roles. However, all actors are eligible for 8 to 9 EMC points for their participation in this production. All actors 18 and over are paid a modest stipend for their participation as well. Hi All, Houde School Of Acting offers Kids, Tweens and Teens classes at both of our locations in Kent and Cleveland. If your child is interested in acting, he/she can come check out a free class at either location! We utilize our 8 different sets and also our on-camera room so students can view their performance afterwards. Seeking all body types for fitness photo/video shoot on October 13

216Fitness is looking for diverse middle-aged males and young to middle-aged females to appear in some photos and promo video footage. You do not have to be the 'fitness model' type - 216Fitness is about fitness for all people of all body types. What IS preferred are folks who know how to be in front of a camera and who can be professional. Workout apparel in solid tones, no large logos or graphics. Preferred colors: denim-blue, cobalt blue, navy blue, coral, black, or grey. Either workout leggings, or shorts, or leggings under shorts are all fine options. If you prefer sweatpants, then not too baggy - for example a tapered leg works well. Final production of the promo video will be rapid clips of various people doing movements to compile 15 second to 1 minute segments - very short clips. Video/photo shoot sessions will take place in Cleveland Heights from 10 am - 12 pm and possibly 2-3 pm, on October 13. This is paid work.
