Part collaborative game. Part exploration of 21st Century storytelling techniques.* “The Sherlock Project” *is a creative exercise that seeks to find new ways of collaborating and innovating through the process of exploration and discovery. Inspired by the work of the Columbia University School of Arts’ Digital Storytelling Lab, this creative writing session seeks to ignite your imagination through game playing, investigation, and imagination. There will be a whole new story...your story! *About the Instructor:* Eric Schmiedl is a native of Cleveland, Ohio and a graduate of Kent State University and the University of Hawai’i. His plays have been produced by theaters including Denver Center Theatre Company, Cleveland Play House, Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Cleveland Public Theatre, Lantern Theatre, Idaho Shakespeare Festival, New Stages Theatre, Honolulu Theatre for Youth, Oregon Children’s Theatre, Karamu House, Adventure Stage Chicago, Signal Ensemble Theatre, Great Lakes Theater Company and BackStage Theatre in Chicago. Wireless Update

If you use wireless microphones, you'll want to know the following: You probably already have heard that T-Mobile purchased a block of frequencies that has impacted wireless microphone users. T-Mobile has been rolling out updated equipment through the country and Cleveland/Akron is on the list for 4Q 2018. https://howmobileworks.com/spectrum/ This will impact wireless microphone users who have equipment in the 600 MHz range. Depending on many factors you may or may not be impacted, however broadcasting (using a wireless microphone) in that range will be considered a violation and you may be fined. The effective date of this transition was July 2018 and users have 18 months to vacate the 600 MHz range before violations will be enforced. If you have wireless microphones (or other RF gear) in the 600 MHz range, connect with your sound team to determine what your options are. Most RF manufactures have a trade in program. New brand name equipment could be pricy - there are some really good less expensive options available (I've been using a great lower cost off brand). Until the Q4 2018 update is complete, it's possible that using 600 MHz mic will be ok but I would put those mics on ensemble members. T-Mobile can throw the switch at any time. If you rent, verify the frequency range(s) and run a frequency coordination to prevent any other issues. Drop me a note if you need help or want to find someone in your area to review your needs. Kit has a sarcastic personality about her when she is being toyed with. At times, careless. After dealing with her stalker for so long, she wants to get back at them and becomes recklessly obsessed. Kelsey: Kit’s roommate girl, 20-30’s flower child vibes, is always mellow and approachable. She is always there to help out. She can be sarcastic as well when she wants to be. Gerry: Kit’s stalker. 30’s+(open). He has a creepy demeanor about him. Gerry is quiet, yet outspoken when he wants to be. By the end of the film, he wants to live a normal life. Supporting Roles: College Activist: male or female, early 20’s. Peppy, upbeat, and kind of an airhead. They are promoting their environmental college group at the park. Ms. Karen: Female, 40’s+. Suburban mom vibes. They are uptight and stubborn. Protagonist Motivation: Kit has been dealing with her stalker, Gerry for a while now. She has become annoyed with him and his actions because it isn’t scary anymore. To make Gerry stop bugging Kit, Kit decides to reverse the roles and stalk him back. Along with some help of Kelsey, she has a few unsuccessful attempts at getting to him. Near West Theatre seeks an Assistant Stage Manager for its upcoming production of Carnival. This is a paid position. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Assist with managing rehearsal process and maintain proper documentation of blocking and technical elements. • Assist with managing tech rehearsal process and maintain proper documentation for run of show. • Supervise and direct crew for run of show. • Assist with managing crew and cast call times, sound checks, performances and sightlines. • Attend tech notes following each night of tech. • Assist with managing emergency situations if they arise during rehearsals and performances (will be trained on company procedures) • Help maintain rehearsal and performance spaces. Required Skills: • Astute attention to detail • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally, collaborating with others • Must be able to solve problems as and when they may arise • Strong organizational and adaptability skills • Positive attitude and the ability to remain effective under pressure while managing staff and motivating teams for best results. Rehearsals started September 23rd. The rehearsal and performance schedule are as follows: • Rehearsals are Sunday-Wednesday. Fall auditions are here and are you prepared? Dr. Christopher Hutton, Baritone, is taking new voice students and excited to get you physically and mentally prepared for auditions and performances. Dr. Hutton has a Masters Degree and Doctorate of Music Arts degrees in Vocal Pedagogy (Science of Singing) from Arizona State University, and is fluent in teaching both belting/music theatre technique and classical technique. Christopher attended Youngstown State University where he received his Bachelors in Voice Performance. He has also performed opera at regional opera houses for over thirteen years.
