“Little Women” The Musical presented at Western Reserve Playhouse The novel “Little Women” by Louisa May Alcott comes alive as a captivating all-new Broadway musical adaptation, opening October 5, 2018 at Western Reserve Playhouse. This family friendly, high-energy production is directed by WRP’s Artistic Director, Dawn Sniadak-Yamokoski, and choreographer, Jen Justice, with musical direction by Dave Stebbins. “Little Women” follows four sisters—the independent, aspiring writer Jo, the romantic Meg, the pretentious Amy, and the kind-hearted Beth, all under the watchful eye of their beloved mother, Marmee, while their father is away serving in the Civil War. Each sister follows a different path but not necessarily what is expected. This coming-of-age tale is filled with drama, romance, humor, and music. “Little Women, The Musical,” book by Allan Knee, music by Jason Howland, and lyrics by Mindi Dickstein, soars with vibrant sweeping song and dance, featuring: Kaity Poschner (Jo), Bernadette Hisey (Marmee), Kayla Lehman (Meg), Tenley Stitzer (Amy), Abigal Lehman (Beth), Shelly Palumbo (Aunt March), Jay Sigler (Professor Bhaer), Michael Knobloch (Laurie), Steven Schuerger (Mr. Brooke), and Walt Kaminiski (Mr. Laurence). The principle characters are backed by live musicians and an ensemble of singers and dancers, including: Molly Kessler, Dorota Zarzycka, Emily Shipley, and Christina Worcester. This timeless tale about the power of family, friendship, and romance will delight the entire family. Over the last two decades, Story Time with Hassan has played to more than 250,000 people. Hassan is a proud recipient of the R. Joyce Whitley award for new playwrights, winning the award for his autobiographical work, Mrs. Roger's Back Porch. Hassan has shared folktales in over eleven school districts in Ohio and Georgia. Whether it's vocal performances on the internationally syndicated radio show, Your Story Hour, or sharing the stage with The Ohio Chamber Orchestra, Hassan has enjoyed local and national exposure as a performing artist. WHAT IS STORY TIME? Story Time with Hassan is theater through participation that meets Early Learning Development and State Standards. It engages students, from toddlers to school age, in life sciences, gross motor skills, counting and memorization to rhythm and movement, just to name a few learning experiences. Through Story Time with Hassan, the audience becomes an actual facet of the story. With one sweep of his hand all the hundreds of little feet suddenly become one of the many migrating herds along the Serengeti or in a river in Alaska, with a bear, as they catch salmon leaping upstream. Good Afternoon, I would like to advertise Case Western Reserve University's upcoming production of Craig Lucas's Reckless which opens this Friday, September 28. Please let me know if any further information to be included in the list: In just two days, we open the 2018-2019 Eldred Theater season with Craig Lucas's Reckless!!! Don't miss your chance to see this thought-provoking journey of a woman whose life is drastically altered when her husband puts a contract out on her life on Christmas Eve: *Reckless*, written by Craig Lucas. Directed by David Vegh A young housewife is forced to flee her suburban home on Christmas Eve when she learns that her husband has put out a contract on her life. This absurdly comic fable explores the impermanence of modern life through an Alice in Wonderland-like journey of self-discovery.
