Hi there, Just a friendly reminder that a new film will be showing as part of the LCCC Stocker Arts Center Film Series tonight and October 5. The film series, held in the Hoke Theatre, features the finest art, independent, classic and foreign films. Have a lovely weekend. Lives Well Lived and My Afternoons With Margueritte (double feature) Friday, September 28, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. A double feature of Lives Well Lived showcasing 40 adults from 75 to 100 years old who are living their lives to the fullest and My Afternoons with Margueritte where afternoons spent reading aloud on their favorite bench transform two lives and start them both on a new journey. Bag of Marbles Friday, October 5, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. The story of the Nazi occupation as seen through the eyes of two young Jewish boys. Joseph and Maurice are 10 and 12, and have no real understanding of the persecution of Jews. These tenacious urchins survive on courage, ingenuity and more than a bit of cunning as they make their way through France hoping to reunite with their family. The film series tickets are $7. Support local theatre, new works, and LGBTQ+ representation on stage through your costume purchase! On *September 29th and 30th* Rubber City Theatre will be downsizing their costume stock. This is a great opportunity to buy items perfect for all your theatre, cosplay, drag, or Halloween costume needs. There will also be dresses for homecoming and dances, as well as everyday wear. The sale will include hundreds of pieces, both vintage and modern, from clothing to jewelry and accessories. It will take place September 29 from 10am to 4pm and September 30 from noon to 4pm. All proceeds from the costume sale will support Rubber City Theatre’s Knight Arts Challenge winning *Shakesqueer Project*, a two-part project to re-imagine Shakespeare’s works to reflect the lives of the LGBTQ+ community. PLEASE ONLY RESPOND TO: Nbudin(a)menorahpark.org Stone Gardens Assisted Living and Yachad is looking for a teacher/workshop presenter to lead an arts-based program (music, songwriting, dance, drama, creative writing, sign language, etc. We're open to any ideas!) with senior adults in their 80s and 90s with mobility and some cognitive limitations, special needs young adults (autism, Down Syndrome, etc.), and high school volunteers, once a month on Wednesday evenings. (Complete schedule to follow.) Stone Gardens is an Assisted Living facility on the campus of Menorah Park in Beachwood. Yachad is a national organization with local chapters dedicated to providing inclusive Jewish experiences to Jewish youth and young adults with special needs. The programs would take place at Stone Gardens, and they do not have to be Jewish in nature or theme. Yachad leaders and Stone Gardens staff will be present. The programs are from 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM. We can pay $100/1 hr. session. Experience working with senior adults and people with special needs preferred. Creativity, flexibility, and enthusiasm a must.
