Fall auditions are here and are you prepared? Dr. Christopher Hutton, Baritone, is taking new voice students and excited to get you physically and mentally prepared for auditions and performances. Dr. Hutton has a Masters Degree and Doctorate of Music Arts degrees in Vocal Pedagogy (Science of Singing) from Arizona State University, and is fluent in teaching both belting/music theatre technique and classical technique. Christopher attended Youngstown State University where he received his Bachelors in Voice Performance. He has also performed opera at regional opera houses for over thirteen years. Lessons will take place on Saturday morning/afternoon. Lessons will prepare each student for school Regional and All-State auditions, theatre auditions and college auditions in voice performance and musical theater. Students consist of all ages and center around high school or younger who show an interest in performing at local theaters and their school choral and musical productions.

Auditions - North Coast Men's Chorus - Sunday, September 16 & 23

The North Coast Men’s Chorus is holding auditions for our holiday concert on Sunday, September 16th and 23rd starting at 6:00! Please come and plan on staying for the entire rehearsal. Our holiday concert will be presented on Saturday, December 1 at 3:00 and 8:00 pm and Sunday, December 2 at 3:00 pm at the beautiful Hanna Theatre at Playhouse Square! You don’t need to prepare anything for the audition. You'll meet with Rich Cole, Artistic Director, and he will have you sing some scales, match some pitches and determine what section of the chorus your voice is best suited for. It is a pretty painless process and you'll be on your way to performing on-stage with the Chorus! NCMC holds regular rehearsals every Sunday evening from 7:00 pm-9:30 pm, with rehearsals starting a little earlier when we get closer to concert. Singers are expected to arrive by 6:45pm to greet their friends and settle in so rehearsal can begin on time. We usually hold an off-site rehearsal on a Saturday afternoon close to the concert. Additional rehearsals are required of the dancers, but they all say that extra time is more fun than work. Rehearsals are held at the rehearsal studios in the Masonic Temple, 3615 Euclid Ave, Cleveland, OH 44115. Ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years Technical Director experience. MFA ideal, but will consider commensurate experience. Seeking strengths in carpentry, rigging, paints --- and must be an excellent problem solver, with strong communication skills. Additional skills in welding, electrics, and projections a plus. 7 productions yearly (Four in our 484 seat proscenium and three in our 96 seat Studio black box.) There is also a Youth Theatre season. TD will work with staff as well as over hire to build all productions. Hudson Players Auditions for War of the Worlds: The 1938 Radio Script By Howard E. Koch Produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc. Directed by Theresa Benyo-Marzullo Audition Dates: Sept. 16 & 17, 2018 - 7:00 p.m. Barlow Community Center 41 S. Oviatt St. Hudson, Ohio 44236 Performance Dates: Oct 19 & 20, 2018 - One Weekend Only (8:00 p.m. curtain) The auditions will involve reading from the script. ALL ROLES AVAILABLE. Hudson Players does not pre-cast. Celebrating the 80th Anniversary of the original broadcast in Oct of 1938, this special one weekend only staged reading, retells Orson Wells' famous Halloween radio fright night to the nation detailing a realistic-sounding Martian attack. Experience the broadcast that shook the country. This is sure to be a crowd-pleaser! All actors (except for Sound Effects Artist and family) must be able to speak with different voices for each character. Rehearsals will be minimal; only once per week for 4 weeks except for Tech week. Characters are as follows: Orson Welles/Professor Pierson: Male (20s to 30s) - Leader & director of the radio play and also plays a professor of astronomy. Announcer/Commander Voght/Stranger: Male (any age) - Typical radio announcer. Also plays a military communications operator, military lieutenant, and a stranger highly effected by the invasion and is interviewed by Pierson at the end of the play. Announcer One & Two/Operator One: Male or Female (any age) - Introduces other characters and acts as a sort of narrator. Also plays a military communications operator. Announcer Three/Mr. Wilmuth/VP Harry McDonald/Gunner/Operator 2: Male (40s to 60s) - Radio announcer, farmer, executive, military gunner and military communications operator. Reporter Carl Phillips/Observer/Operator Four: Male (20's to 40's) - Radio reporter who interviews Professor Pierson and also plays a military observer & communications operator. Policeman/Captain Lansing/Secretary of the Interior/General Smith/Officer/Operators Three & Five: Male (50's to 70's) - Policeman, military captain, politician, military general, artillery office, and military communications operator. Sound Effects Artist (Male or Female, any age): able to create sound effects throughout the play. Non-speaking role. Family of 3-4: Need a small group to play a Mom, Dad and their children (1-2 teens or preteens) as a family around a radio listening to the original 1938 broadcast of the show and being drawn in thinking that aliens are invading the earth. Mapleside Farms is adding new and exciting attractions every year. We are currently seeking a Stage Manager intern who will aid in the organization and production of 2 shows currently running this fall season. The Princess and the Pumpkin is in its 3rd year with a brand new episode. And we'll be raising the bar again this year with our MSPN (Mapleside Programming Network) Barnyard Sports Pig Races. We'll need some help coordinating Actors, costumes, props, and break schedules for Princess and the Pumpkin, Pig Races, American Legends weekend, Superhero Weekend and Wild West Weekend. Wild West weekend will include a small show that escalates into a full blown cowboy fight. All our shows run periodically throughout the day. Roughly 4 shows each, each day. The Princess and the Pumpkin is still in rehearsal, 9/15 & 16, 6-9pm and 9/17 & 18, 6-10p or more if needed. We'll start EARLY Saturday 9/22 for a couple more run-through's before we open. at 10am. Show days are every Saturday and Sunday from 930a to 530pm with one Friday Oct. 12. AMERICAN LEGENDS - Actors needed Paid Positions

We're looking for a few good American Legends to help create the AMAZING guest experience at Mapleside Farms. Strolling characters are an extremely important part of the guest experience we create at Mapleside Farms. It goes way beyond "putting on a costume" and walking around. I ask that my actors prepare for their roles through research and exploration. What would it take for you to become Abraham Lincoln or Amelia Earhart? How would you bring depth to embody Betsy Ross or Davy Crockett? Study them and be prepared to talk about their life AS THAT PERSON. Recall stories of your adventures. Make it real. As Actors, we LOVE to perform. And we often perform for free just because we love doing it. How many shows do you do where you don't get paid? And if you DO get paid, what are you getting paid for if you love it so much that you'd do it for free? I consider this the ultimate actor TRAINING. Consider that you're really getting paid to investigate, research and prepare in order to give that AMAZING PERFORMANCE that you then do for free because you love it so much. Is it challenging to perform a character face to face with a guest, without the safety net of fellow actors to pull some focus or a backstage to run to for solace? YES it is. But THAT'S what makes you better. When you challenge yourself, make yourself vulnerable, throw your self in the deep end to learn how to swim, throw your self in the fire to learn how to survive. Otherwise you're not really acting, you're just pretending. It's not the same thing. *American Legends* - September 22rd and 23rd , 2018 (Johnny Appleseed weekend) -- 9:30a-2:30p and 12:30p-5:30p Paul Bunyan(Big man with a beard), Mark Twain, Huckleberry Finn, John Henry (Muscular African American), Astronaut John Glenn (any age just have very little hair), Casey Jones (train engineer) Abraham Lincoln, Davy Crockett, Pocahontas, Amelia Earhart, Betsy Ross, Marilyn Monroe, Annie Oakley. And if you portray an American Legend that’s not listed, please let us know. We also need Actors for our new Not So Spooky Halloween party theme on Friday and Saturday nights (only) from 5-9pm from Sept 21 through Oct 28th. Let us know your interest in those nights as well.
