Should she continue to refuse the help of the feisty, amorous water bearer? Does the world really depend on this single tree, or is this a self-generating myth? All is made clear (or is it?) when Odin, the One-Eyed God (or is he?) shows up to resolve all questions and save us all (or can he?). _The Casual Tree Ward _is directed by Susan Soltis. AUDITIONS - CINDER-ELLA - Beck Center Youth Theater Beck Center for the Arts Youth Theater, one of the oldest continuously running Youth Theaters in the country, will be holding auditions on September 16 & 17, 2018 for the first production of our 70th Anniversary Season: CINDER-ELLA Written and Directed by Russel Stich The Story: Poor Ella longs to be like the other girls of the village, spending carefree days laughing and playing with friends, but instead she's forced to spend her time tending to the needs of her seven vain stepsisters. Excitement sweeps across the countryside when The King announces that his son will be seeking a bride. With the help of her friends, a group of feisty mice, and a mysterious fairy godFATHER, Ella sets out to meet the Prince and change her future. Join us for this original re-imagining of the classic children's tale from the author and director of last season's hit Snow White's Adventures! Having upset his schedule, Smith becomes hopelessly entangled in his attempts to explain himself to his wives and two suspicious police officers, with help from his lazy layabout neighbour upstairs in Wimbledon.

Call for Artists: Utility Box Design Competition

The Shaker Arts Council (SHAC) is sponsoring an *art competition* for the design of a *utility box* located on the Vintage Development Group’s Townhomes of Shaker Heights property on Van Aken Boulevard at Sutton and Onaway Roads. Designs will be *displayed and judged* at *Painting the Town,* a gala event being held at the Shaker Country Club *on Friday evening, October 5, 2018*. Designs and applications must be submitted to SHAC via email ( info(a)shakerartscouncil.org) no later than *Wednesday 3 October at 5pm*. Applicants must be 21 years or older and live or work in Shaker Heights or the Shaker Heights School District. Applicants may submit more than one (1) design, but each must be submitted in a separate email. There are no entry fees. Artists will retain all copyrights to their artwork. The artist with the winning entry will receive a $500.00 stipend and have the work installed. The displayed works will be anonymous. *Do not sign your submittal nor indicate your name on the submitted design document.* The judges will be the attendees of the *Painting the Town *gala. Applicants do not need to attend the gala. The winner of the competition will be contacted by SHAC the following week. By submitting a design proposal, artists agree to allow SHAC: - to display the work at the gala; - to use images on printed materials and websites for promotional purposes only; - to photograph the work.
