Crutchie - Male or Female A dedicated newsie with a bum leg, and though it's painful, it does helps sell more newspapers. Though he walks with the assistance of a crutch, Crutchie doesn't let it define him; when in a jam, Jack Kelly's best friend relies on a goofy- sweet sense of humor and optimistic resilience. Crutchie is the heart of the resistance. Davey - Male Les' straight-laced, bright big brother. He starts selling newspapers to help his family earn a living, but becomes swept up in the fervor of the strike. A leader in his own right who is learning to use his voice to uplift others, Davey is the brains of the resistance. Les - Male Davey's cheeky younger brother. He is inspired by the freedom of the newsies and loves their independent lifestyle. A precocious and natural newsie, Les is an intuitive salesboy and a pint-sized charmer. He should present as younger than the other newsies. Newsies - Male and Female Including Albert, Buttons, Elmer, Finch, Henry, Ike, Jo Jo, Mike, Mush, Race, Romeo, Specs, Splasher, and Tommy Boy, are some of the hard-working kids of New York City that go on strike for a livable wage. Katherine Plumber - Female An ambitious young reporter who works hard to make a name for herself as a legitimate journalist in a time when women aren't taken seriously. Quick, funny, and resourceful, she boldly captures the voice of a new generation rising in her coverage of the newsies' strike. Explore the themes, stories and characters of classic musicals like *Peter Pan* and *The* *Wizard Of Oz* through dance, song and creative play. Our critically acclaimed *Kids Love Musicals!* program continues to grow, and we need gifted teachers and performers willing to share their art and heart. *Job Title: *TMTP Teaching Artist *Reports to: *TMTP Executive Director *Contract Period:* September 2018-May 2019 (school year) *Hours: *Part-time, 2-4 days/week; 5-6 hours/day between 8am-3p *Salary & Benefits: *$100/day + monthly mileage stipend; paid training and professional development *Function: * · Deliver services related to *Kids Love Musicals! The talent I’ve seen here so far is no less than a big city, and I want to help you develop it. I don’t really like talking about credits, but I want you to know I’m not just someone who’s taken a few classes somewhere. I’ve been a working writer/performer in Los Angeles for over 10 years. I’ve acted in sketches on Human Giant, Key & Peele, and Conan. I’ve written sketches and digital series for FunnyorDie, Comedy Central, and Maker Studios. I was a writer/performer on a Maude (House) sketch team at The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in LA, and have also wrote/directed/produced multiple original shows there. I created UCB's The Midnight Show and was a writer/producer on Nick’s Big Talk Show with Nick Thune. I’ve worked with a lot of great people, and while I’m in Cleveland I want to help you build something here.
