As Treves endeavors to civilize him by introducing him to London’s elite, Merrick dreams of being like other men. But when manners and propriety leave Merrick dissatisfied, Treves begins to question his own altruistic pursuits. Achingly poignant and poetic, discover our shared humanity with The Elephant Man. A gentle soul living within a severely disfigured body. Actors with history of back trouble should not audition for this role. The director is looking to cast this role with a person of color. Frederick Treves A driven, contradictory, brilliant, and accomplished surgeon/lecturer in anatomy at the acclaimed London Hospital. *Mrs. Kendall A determined, successful, sophisticated, compassionate, and witty leading lady of the British theatre. Avenue Arts Marketplace & Theatre announces auditions for THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES SYNOPSIS: An Obie Award-winning whirlwind tour of a forbidden zone, THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES introduces a wildly divergent gathering of female voices, including a six-year-old girl, a septuagenarian New Yorker, a vagina workshop participant, a woman who witnesses the birth of her granddaughter, a Bosnian survivor of rape, and a feminist happy to have found a man who "liked to look at it." Directed by: Katie Wells Auditions will take place on January 9th and 10th from 7-9pm Auditioners are asked to prepare a monologue similar to the style of the show and may be asked to cold read from the script. Rehearsals begin January 14th and will generally be held Sun-Thurs. Show dates are Fridays and Saturdays, March 9th-17th. All performances are at 8PM. THEATRE AUDITIONS FOR 26 PEBBLES TAKE PLACE JAN. 30 & 31 AT KENT STATE UNIVERSITY AT STARK Kent State University at Stark Theatre has announced open auditions for its third theatrical production of the season, 26 Pebbles, a docudrama that incorporates verbatim interview excerpts from Newtown, Conn., residents recounting the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. Directed by Kent State Stark Associate Professor of Theatre and Theatre Director Brian Newberg, 26 Pebbles transports audiences to Newtown months after the massacre. Playwright Eric Ulloa’s work delves into the aftermath of unthinkable tragedy and the resulting push forward toward healing. Auditions for 26 Pebbles are open to everyone, including students and members of the community. Kent State Stark encourages diversity in casting. Auditions will be held at 6 p.m. Jan. 30 and 31 in the Fine Arts Theatre, 6000 Frank Ave. NW in Jackson Township. Roles are available for four women and two men; each actor will play multiple roles. Those auditioning may perform a prepared monologue, if they wish, and the director may also choose sides (selected scene excerpts). "Heroes" and Berlin - Vanity Crash - Jan 12 & Jan 13 - Bop Stop

Vanity Crash Fans, You are receiving this because you requested information or attended one of our Vanity Crash concerts or David Bowie presentations. As we prepare for our upcoming shows at BOP STOP onFri 1/12&Sat 1/13, we're learning formerly obscured details behind the making of one of the all-time classic albums, David Bowie's Low, released in January of 1977. * Fri 1/12: David Bowie: The Berlin Era (1976-80) * Sat 1/13: An Evening With(out) David Bowie (entire life) *http://www.BowieShows.com For example, many people assume that Brian Eno produced Bowie's Berlin trilogy (Low, "Heroes" and Lodger). As it turns out, Tony Visconti produced all three, while Eno contributed ambient electronic tracks and co-wrote some of the songs with Bowie. He also brought along his Oblique Strategies cards to help with the creative process, offering suggestions like: "Use unqualified people." And, in fact, only the album "Heroes" was produced entirely in Berlin: Low was tracked at Chateau d'Herouville outside Paris with only one song (Weeping Wall) created at Hansa Tonstudio (Hansa By The Wall) in Berlin. Bowie wrote all songs on Low, with Eno credited as co-writer on Warszawa (he created the ambient soundbed when Bowie left town to meet with lawyers defending a lawsuit from his former manager), while George Murray (bass) and Dennis Davis (drums) were credited as co-writers on Breaking Glass. The post-rock electronic sound of Low was created by Bowie, Eno and Visconti wielding their current favorite obsessions: Bowie had one of only a couple hundred Chamberlin tape-loop keyboards: a mellotron prototype. Eno brought along his favorite synthesizer, the EMS Synthi AKS, which was built into a suitcase and was triggered by a joystick. And Visconti was experimenting with the Eventide Harmonizer, that he claimed, "f**ks with the fabric of time." On Friday, January 12, 2018 at Cleveland's BOP STOP at 7:30PM, I'll be presenting "David Bowie: The Berlin Era" at 7:30PM, uncovering more behind-the-scenes revelations about Bowie's Berlin era, plus an exciting live music set from Cleveland glam heroes Vanity Crash. On Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the same location, I'll present "An Evening With(out) David Bowie" telling the story of Bowie's entire life from birth to his final album Blackstar and his New York stage musical Lazarus. Part 1 begins at 7:30PM and runs through Young Americans, and Part 2 starts at 9:30PM with the Berlin Era and runs to the very end of his life and beyond. Both sets are followed by live music showcases by Vanity Crash. Join us for rare video, needle drops, trivia contests, Q&A, and some visual arts exhibitions on David Bowie. The live music segments by Vanity Crash feature Bowie favorites, period classics and originals from our 2017 release Phantasmagoria, which includes a track with piano contributed by Mike Garson, Bowie's longtime pianist. Rubber City Theatre is seeking imaginative directors who are excited about working in an intimate black box setting and telling classic stories in fresh and exciting ways. We are especially interested in directors who have directed in small professional venues. We are accepting resumes and statements of interest for A Streetcar Named Desire (Opening in mid-October, rehearsals begin mid-September). Cleveland Youth Theater Project is now enrolling students for our Grades 3-5 and Grades 6-9 Improv Classes! Actors are taught how to use voice, stance, blocking, and body language to create a scene and character. Each week, actors will play a series of improv games that are both fun and educational- each week focusing on a different skill! This class is open to actors of all skill levels. Each course is 6 weeks long with a performance open to friends and family at the end. They are $90 for all 6 weeks- but since the goal of Cleveland Youth Theater Project is to create affordable and educational opportunities in the performing arts, we are willing to set up a weekly payment plan if it is easier!
